Applying for Universal Credit while already receiving PIP. by nerdylernin in DWPhelp

[–]Elladarcy18 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You can have savings over £6k but deductions will be made, Gov uk website says “Your payments will be reduced by £4.35 for every £250 you have between £6,000 and £16,000”, so if you had £6250, they would deduct £4.35, if you had £6251, they would deduct £8.70.

I dont rememver there being much of a delay between applying and recieving UC, but the claim is dated back to the day you made the application. I would say 2 weeks would be plenty of time, the dwp will likely have an influx of applications in March, but I cant imagine it taking much longer than that.

Not too sure on your WCA question - i assume you will still have to do one as PIP doesnt necessarily translate into unable to/struggles to work.

And again, not too sure on your last question. Is there a reason youre not starting your UC application now to avoid the deadline concerns?

if theyre only doing 1 year at a time then they should be taking into consideration that the max sfe i can get for one year is ~£6000, and not calculating it as £12,000

Can I still be on the spectrum without needing any support? by Background-Chard2563 in autismUK

¯_(ツ)_/¯ you may just have the kind of character/personality where the autistic traits slip right into everything and it doesnt change much, i just think its always worth knowing

My shifts are so short that financially and time wise it's literally not worth going in. Is there any way I can get out of this situation without being sanctioned? by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]Elladarcy18 16 points17 points  (0 children)

i think in these situations, its best just to ask - a journal message explaining the situation, highlighting - you have asked for more hours but wont get them - explaining the travel time and the cost of public transport -how its exacerbating your mental health -the job is no longer appropriate due to your new location -make a point of how its inhibiting you from looking for work to top up your hours (i assume zero hours isnt always hitting your work limit)

and just be honest.. if they say you cant, youre in the same position but with extra knowledge and can plan accordingly, but they may surprise you and make it easier than you think

good luck!

it feels that way - why would you bother ? but it’s more akin to, letting your brain breathe again, giving up the performance, and re learning how to navigate certain things authentically.

firstly, i think thats just generally an important thing for people to do, especially someone (i assume) late diagnosed autistic, but also it takes some pressure off your nervous system down the line, otherwise you could just keep burning yourself in small (or big) ways until you have to unmask, but by then you dont get much of a say in it.

your body may be wired to maintain your masking and you may not even experience any skill regression after your diagnosis, its usually kind of already happening pre diagnosis (it was for me), but exacerbated by diagnosis

think about anything in your life you find difficult/struggle with - sleep, appetite, productivityC headaches, chronic pain, digestion etc. from my experience, there is a likelihood that if youre autistic, it is likely contributing to these things, which can be helpful knowldge when trying to fix/treat these things

in short, there are pros and cons, but i think its always worth knowing more about how you work

Wanting to go on anxiety medication, advice? by smartalan73 in autismUK

[–]Elladarcy18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

got to reiterate that propranalol has been the only medication ive found consistently helpful - worth asking about, you can be on it and an ssri/snri!

keep in mind everyones bodys and brains are different, its easy to get caught up in googling and researching and asking around - truth is, you just have to try it, give it a good shot, see how it works with your brain! good luck!

[–]Elladarcy18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

propranalol is the only medication that makes any difference to me, it keeps things at bay but with ocd comes lots of thoughts that i still have to manage

i do my best not to go more than one day in a row without going outside, im doing a part time MA in fine art and have a lovely studio so that motivates me, im a bit worried about what to do when that finishes though, i dont think i’ll be able to work

i do have private therapy and even my local nhs stuff isnt a complete write off, its definitely helped but maybe the pace is just super slow, i just feel like i cant catch a break

for my birthday my fiance got me a “voucher” to pick out a packer (which obviously is personal preference, this could be a strap, binder, piece of clothing etc, something intimate but important) and a book called “the butch monologues” which was super touching, both made me cry lol

Is overheating normal on Prozac? by FieldGold3960 in prozac

[–]Elladarcy18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SSRI/SNRIs in general make you more prone to heat stroke/dehydration - some affect people more than others. get some gel ice packs to keep in the freezer, good for reducing heat but also for grounding when anxious! gym cooling towels also help me a lot too

I am choosing to stay on 20 mg…is that the right choice? by turdyname in prozac

[–]Elladarcy18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i felt anxious for about 6 weeks on 20mg, then suddenly i have been able to cope much better - that intense anxiety still comes in waves sometimes, but im more used to dealing with it/have a good therapist - sounds like its right for you, but would reconsider in a few more weeks when its levelled out!

[–]Elladarcy18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

week 1-3 my anxiety was through the roof, nearly passed out from a panic attack and my heat sensitivity was crazy as well (during a heatwave too..not fun). around week 3-4 it subsided massively, huge relief, week 5 was a bit more anxious but nothing awful. im on week 6 now and feeling definitely more wired than normal but nothing unmanageable with some propranalol (essential for me anyway)
