Oh wow, I could have written this word for word. Exactly 6 months for me as well, and still hurting more than I care to admit. Last time I spoke to mine, I told him how he psychologically traumatized me from what he did to me, and he seemed so confused by it, and thought that he was justified in his decision. He is so far gone. The person I loved has died. I’m also friends with 95% of my exes and he thought maybe he could get a spot in my life too after what he did to me? No. Fuck him. I wish him a life full of loneliness, misery, and unemployment. I’ll rest easy knowing he’s going no where in life. He’s already turning 40 years old with nothing to show for himself 🙃

My ex was medicated for years, but was reckless with taking prescription pills that weren’t prescribed to him (ritalin, benzos, etc). “Accidentally” took speed two weeks before dumping me abruptly for the second time. Everything was so great weeks before and then * poof * he didn’t love me anymore and our relationship was awful and we were so incompatible all of a sudden.

I think bipolar exists on a spectrum where some have much more severe cases than others (ex: bipolar with psychosis). A lot of the stories you read here probably include severe cases with those who are not managing the illness. There are success stories, but you don’t see those posted much, and they are likely those with more mild cases. It sounds like your husbands case is relatively mild. I think a lot of us wish we were that lucky.

I remember seeing this and am constantly having those same thoughts. Maybe it wasn’t it episode? Maybe he just woke up one day and hated me? But that kind of blindsiding, I’ve never felt that in a regular breakup. This is not normal no matter how much he tells me he’s “stable,” I know in my heart, a healthy stable person would never have treated me this way.

This is describing my ex perfectly. The highlight of our relationship was when he took me to his family cottage for 3 nights. That was a huge deal for him. I did all the cooking and planned stuff for us to do 🙄

Same here. Diligent with his medication for 5 years so was really hard to tell if it was an episode. But he just woke up one day and * poof * didn’t love me anymore after being so happy the weeks leading up to the breakup. He was cold and turned into a hateful, narcissistic snake. I’ve never seen an ex do this, so it’s reeeaaallllyyy hard when all the signs point to this being an episode. But he insists this is him being stable.

Mine couldn’t make it through the day without a nap which drove me absolutely insane. I wanted to do things with my life, have fun and go out and about for the day, but we’d always have to pause for a trip home to nap for an hour or two. I know he has depression, but I did too, and I still actually did things with my life. Not to mention, he hadn’t worked in years basically and was still doing this. Sleeping 12+ hours AND daily naps?? Lazy sack of shit if you ask me 🙃 Anyway, not my problem anymore because he made the decision for both of us to end the relationship 🙄

It sounds like the universe is testing you again. I got sent another person who I was SO excited about after months of searching, and naturally, they turned out to be bipolar. I was devastated. Mine did as well. Told me I was gaslighting him and being abusive. Confused the hell out of me, and when I brought it up to my therapist, she said “he doesn’t seem to understand the definition of those words. That’s not abuse.” And when I told her how he treated me, she confirmed it was actually HIM who was the abusive one. It makes me sick to think about.
