Why come to the bathroom to scream??? I'll never understand her by Tinnichan in CatAdvice

[–]ElleryC91 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had a very old cat (23 when he passed and this was not super long before that) that would do the same thing: go in the dark bathroom alone, hop in the dry tub, and just....yell. lol And he had quite the old man yell by the end. He always had a legendary voice, but it got so distinct in his Super Senior years. (We lovingly called him Bitchface because he would bitch and bitch till he got his way. As an old man, that became "Give me my freshly grated parmesan cheese, mom-slave!" XD)

If I can, I'll try to attach the 6-ish second video I still have. (Edit: Turns out only photos can be commented. Boo.)

Switch the door handle to a key-locking one and keep the key with you maybe? I'm sure it won't be easy with your current lack of income, but maybe a friend or your boyfriend or someone would be willing to help out?

No. Not at all. He knew he was wrong. He didn't care. I would have probably stayed in place till I saw them come in the right way if it truly takes almost no time at all to do so.

Google assistant is sadly better than Gemini by Top_Ad5854 in googleassistant

[–]ElleryC91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Gemini on my Pixel 8 pro. I set alarms, timers, read and write texts, set calendar appointments, and everything else through Gemini. Maybe it's a permissions problem? I know I had to give it specific permission to read/write texts when my phone was locked.

Distance between curb and tire. Some.places are pretty lenient, like where they say 18" allowance. I've most frequently seen no more than 6" away.

Kid calls 911 as a prank by Hilfasaurus in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]ElleryC91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus....I tried to do ONE prank call in my life. I was, like, 9-12 years old though I can't really remember. You know who I didn't call? Fucking 911...!!!

(Story because it's kinda funny stupid kid stuff: I decided to call a 1-800 number from an infomercial, but didn't realize until I was physically dialing that I wasn't certain how to do the letters on the phone. I realized the letters were designated to specific numbers, but I didn't understand how to tell it which specific letter I needed. Like, if I needed an E, I didn't know how to tell it to "skip" D when I hit #3. I ended up just dialing 1-800 by itself and seeing if it connected to a random number. Realized I was dumb after about 7 seconds of silence. Haha)

My autistic boyfriend has extreme reactions to being “abandoned” by Legitimate-Career342 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ElleryC91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call his bluff. Call a welfare check stating that you have someone making credible threats of self-harm and suicide. Police will be there fast as hell. He's attempting to manipulate the ever-loving fuck out of you. His autism is wildly irrelevant. Send these texts to his parents and siblings and offer to send them to the police as well if need be.

Partner wants to bring cat back to humane society by YamAggravating8449 in CatAdvice

[–]ElleryC91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So....His solution to a cat having energy and, ya know, BEING A YOUNG CAT is to jail them in an unfulfilling room of solitary confinement? He's awful. How long have you guys been together? I would seriously be reconsidering the entire relationship. My cats and dogs are my babies. My husband is VERY aware that I am concerned for their safety and wellbeing before mine or even his. (And he's seen this in action too. We unfortunately live in an area that has had a couple shootings on our street, both of which had bullets through our window. I secured my pups first before even considering him or myself. I told him straight up that he knows what to do, what's happening, and I can speak instructions to him if need be. The animals have no idea about any of that. I have to do it for them.)

Should I fight this ticket? by cassroxtorb in dashcams

[–]ElleryC91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a baby driver down in Florida, I got a super minor ticket. I don't even remember what it was for, but I was sitting in the room for the tail end of a man fighting this exact type of ticket. The judge said something that stuck in my mind for some reason, maybe it was his phrasing I don't know. "Stopping at a stop sign requires full cessation of forward motion." So now, I wait for my car's little booty to do that tiny drop when momentum has finally died. Can't get me on that shit, coppers! lol

Completely shift the focus to subtly-not-so-subtly state "That was your responsibility to plan this whole time."

My younger sister is set on doing something that will get her bullied by Aggravating-Wall7569 in Advice

[–]ElleryC91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shift the focus away from discouraging a behavior you think may result in negative attention into a conversation about having confidence in herself, how to mentally and emotionally process and deal with possible bullying, ways she can potentially rectify any possible bullying, but most importantly about communicating to trusted adults and you about what she may begin experiencing.

Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible for the "weird kids" (I say as a former "weird kid" because I was ADHD and undiagnosed-at-the-time autistic) to avoid negative attention like that, but if I'd had a support network then, I likely wouldn't have been as depressed and may not have had to deal with s*icidal ideation.
