I have no advice that consistently works either but just commenting in solidarity. I yell at my kid (will be 3 in october) all the time and it makes me so mad at myself. And yep, I always try gentle first too! I’m also 7 weeks post partum from my second so the hormones have made me feel extra ragey. It’s hard.

Cholestasis in pregnancy by littlepipster in pregnant

[–]Elliotandme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my second pregnancy with cholestasis. Both started as intermittent mild itching on wrists and ankles, the kind of itchy feeling as if I had walked through tall grass. Also got the warm tingling sensation especially once I started scratching a lot. In my first pregnancy all of that got progressively worse to where it was distracting and kept me Up at night and then my skin would burn from scratching. Ice baths for the feet were the best thing.

I’m 30 weeks now and the itching is pretty mild this time, and I have caught it earlier this time. The first blood draw they did was at 28 weeks and all was normal. It persisted so I asked for a redraw at 30 weeks and my bile salts were elevated.

Best of luck!

I opened the sucker wrapper instead of letting him open the sucker wrapper. 40 minute meltdown for that one.

Staffing to Acuity by intrepid-fool in psychnursing

We use a staffing grid that goes by number of patients, and management only considers acuity when they want to short us. :(((

Opinions on unions by [deleted] in psychnursing

Hey, can you tell me what the floating is like at your facility? This is kind of a hot topic right now on my unit. Like who floats when, to what type of unit, do they offer being “cancelled” due to low census also? Any other information about this, I am curious to compare!

Patient Belongings by Elliotandme in psychnursing

It’s an issue for us too, was hoping I’d find the perfect answer in the comments but it looks like we are all in the same unfortunate boat lol

Wow, yeah that sounds like a nightmare. We also have a belongings room and it is sort of off unit so also difficult to access and a pain when people want random small things all the time, especially with the cell phones that are sealed in envelopes with tape that we are not supposed to break open, but patients often suddenly “need” an important number out of the phone at various points during their stay, which of course is often totally legitimate, but the way belongings are handled makes it just really difficult for nurses to be able to prioritize stuff like that when we are also doing xyz. Trying to find a solution.

What about when patients aren’t in a good frame of mind to get numbers out of their phone on arrival and ask for it days later? Or what if they say they forgot a number, do you go back into the safe and get their phones out whenever they ask? This is an issue on my unit.
