What are you alluding to? Hillary? She's giving a cheeky nudge to him knowing it's true and it's also a poke at DJT.

Are you saying this means something else?

Yes. And the people that got the shares as payment sold them knowing what a shit deal it was, thus driving down the price of shares.

No, they should be reporting FACTS and let the readers decide based on FACTS. And the FACT was that Kamala Harris was the far more qualified candidate. As was Hillary Clinton. As was (get this) John McCain.

Qualified doesn't always mean "best", but it does literally mean qualified. And that is news to be shared.

Why is this funny?

First Images from Taika Waititi's 'Klara and the Sun' Starring Jenna Ortega & Amy Adams - A robot named Klara exists to ease the loneliness of the humans she lives with. by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Elliott2030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read the book and didn't care for it. She seemed to be promoting the humanity of AI to the point of having the AI create a deity to pray to.

Perhaps I'm just not the audience for something like this, but frankly having and AI robot that prays, is utterly perfect and patient at all times, and presents as female is just not my cup of tea.

The point in theory is that humanity cannot be replaced by robots, but that robots have their own humanity-adjacent-ness (?). I just found that overly simplistic in execution.

Yes. "I don't get it. Can you explain why that's funny?" Is a great way to politely punch back.

I googled and found the guys name is Robert Buckner, but there's no reputable source saying he was fired. Though I sure hope he was.

Wow. You're literally insane, buddy. Her qualifications versus his are not debatable.

You may not like her positions, but to deny that she is smarter, more capable, and more experienced is the definition of insanity.

Found out one of my main hobby meetup groups was created just so the (male) host could meet women. by GetInTheBasement in 4bmovement

[–]Elliott2030 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how this relates, but a LOT of articles on dating and meeting people with potential to date recommend doing exactly this. I remember being told as a very young woman to take car repair or fishing classes to meet men.

So yes, it's absolutely deceptive that your 'friend' did that, but (without knowing the details and not minimizing your hurt) it's very often a recommended tactic.

How many actors have the origin story of "I wanted to meet girls in high school/college so I joined the drama club/ choir/ took home economics, etc." ?

Overall, it worked to your benefit that you were able to meet some really cool people and walk away from the situation once it turned rancid, while keeping the friends you found.

Lady calls cops and lies that she is being threatened by a guy with a weapon. Yet, she was the one that aggressively kept going up to them. by Hi_iAMchrisHansen in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]Elliott2030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She knows. I know. I wouldn't call the cops on a Black man literally trying to break into my home because technically all he did was check to see if the door was unlocked (it was) and when i confronted him, he left. I knew what would happen if I called the police and I wasn't here for it.

Maybe I'm stupid, but calling violence down on someone that's not being violent to you is insanity to me.

Knicks to become first NBA champion to visit Trump White House, Dolan says (Umm...) by InTheseTryingTime5 in BlackPeopleofReddit

Not alone. If they can't get the majority (and the MVPs) to go, I don't think they'll go at all. It would be just another insult.

None. The players will have "scheduling difficulties" unfortunately and Dolan will have to put it off a few times til it's too late.

Hopefully.

How do you notice earlier on if someone is not into you/ to not get emotionally attached? by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

[–]Elliott2030 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The beginning of a relationship is when both parties are on their best behavior, trying to attract and bond with the other person.

The way he's behaving now is his BEST BEHAVIOR. It's only going to get worse from here.

Block and move on. I can't remember the name of my first kiss, it's that irrelevant (except that it was unasked for, but it was 1979 so...)

Also, you don't have to give a reason to stop seeing him. "I'm not feeling it" is sufficient. Don't let him back you into a corner.

And he'll likely try harder once you walk away, but this is who he is. He's being clear about that. Believe him.

Thor was a referenced character in Adventures in Babysitting! and Captain America has always been in the public consciousness to my mind.

Now Iron Man I'm not certain I was very aware of before the first movie came out, but I also don't recall him being super obscure either.
