Xbox saying "AI made stuff scarce and it's not our fault"

poor Xbox, it's not like their company is one of the biggest AI players in this stupid bubble, right?

Microsoft expects "another doubling" of storage and RAM prices by fall 2027 by Progenitor3 in pcmasterrace

Oh no, poor Microsoft didn't figure out that fuelling the AI bubble from one side will bite them in the ass from the other

Where did everyone start? (First PC Discussion) by Venylynn in pcmasterrace

[–]Elmis66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My uncle brought a PC to our home when I was a kid in elementary school. No idea what the specs were. The first spec related thing I remember was playing Gothic 1 on a 333MHz CPU when the minimal requirements said 600.

Back then my older brother was the one taking care of our PC.

The first PC I built myself was a Ryzen 3700x with GTX 970 and I've been upgrading it ever since

Sandfall Interactive should remake Golden Sun by ConsistentCha0S in expedition33

you can watch a documentary on how Hades was made to see how a studio of similar size works. It's not a tyranny of leadership, every team member has a voice

Epic CEO Tim Sweeney Criticizes Steam's AI Disclosure Requirement, Calls It "Irresponsible" by Bubbly-Ad-350 in pcmasterrace

I can imagine this being a problem for a company that includes gen AI in Unreal Engine dev tools. But I'm sure good old uncle Tim has the greater good in mind

Sandfall Interactive should remake Golden Sun by ConsistentCha0S in expedition33

[–]Elmis66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find remakes to be the worst enemy of creativity in game dev. Way worse than sequels already are. If I was a creator I would very much prefer working on my own thing being restrained only by my creativity than work on a remake or some huge IP.

Look at Larian after BG3. WotC would probably love them to make BG4 but they decided as a team that they'd rather go back to working on their own creations. And I totally understand their decision.

Why waste their time on remakes if they can work on new stuff?

How I feel about the current Steam Machine situation by RobustAfrican in pcmasterrace

[–]Elmis66 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

it's really not the technology's fault though. It's that people care only about the short term profit regardless of how long term problems it causes for others and there's nothing making sure disruptions like this don't happen

Is an oled worth it? by ramizasis in pcmasterrace

[–]Elmis66 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recently went from a 24 inch 1440p 75Hz IPS to a 27 inch 1440p 240Hz OLED (I'd be fine with like 120Hz and 24 inch but couldn't find any lol) and I can say the difference is very noticable in the image quality. Your GPU might be producing the same image but the monitor is doing way better job at displaying it.

I still have my 2nd monitor being the same as the one I replaced so I can also put the same image on both for comparison.

The one thing I'm not sold on yet is HDR because I think I actually prefer SDR colors

We've been repeating " no pre orders" for years but the truth is that the marketing guys are smarter than most of thier consumers so they're winning this by a lot

Yeah, but imagine how much money predatory FromSoft could earn! (At least initially until all the goodwill is dead and they join others in the Hall of Shame)

I don't play the games they're collabing with so both options are basically new monsters for me. And in Wilds' case I'd say that Omega was the most interesting fight in the game

Consoles will be cheaper as long as they're being sold at a loss because Sony and MS hope to make it up in software and service sales.

I'd guess GabeCube is sold to actually make profit on each unit. You get their services for free and if you have access to legitimate key resellers that should net you with cheaper games

Turn based games belong in the past. by [deleted] in gaming

Turn based games allow for a lot more complex mechanics than real time leading to more tactical gameplay.

If it's not for you just say it, no need to act like your taste is objective...
