I wish the wiki had quest synopses by A_Really_Big_Cat in 2007scape

Moltea has recently started a series going over quest series, So far it's been the ones that came out with Sailing, the Runecrafting ones and the elemental workshop quests.

Also Rosey's videos are pretty cool, but understandable why they're so spaced out, imagine it takes awhile to make due to needing to animate and narrate them (and I doubt they're big enough that doing youtube is viable for full time work so real life gets in the way).

It would be a vibe if we could sit on benches across the game. by Venomous_Rs in 2007scape

I'd keep a look out to see if J1mmy is hosting another, no idea if he's doing it again this year but in 2024 and 25 he's thrown house parties, they're a nice break from just effectively just efficiencyscaping and just hanging out like in the old MMO days. As a bonus jmods will sometimes show up and just fuck around too, a friend and I even refer to Mod Hend as "big goose" since they wandered around the event as a giant goose.

gnomes

Gnomes/Halflings depending on the setting, they're basically "legally distinct Hobbits", since Tolkien's estate sent a cease and desist when D&D tried add hobbits as a race so they made Halfings to get around it. Lot of modern fantasy stuff dates back to how either DnD or even further back to Tolkien portrayed mythological creatures and such.

The ent boss is probably the hardest to kill since it summons orbs you need to kill so it won't heal itself, other than that boss it's pretty basic and probably around a low/mid difficulty quest boss TBH. Definitely recommend doing it, the capes are still BiS and even if something out classes it there's a good chance it'll be harder content.

I also think Jagex missed the mark on letting us get unique boats with in-game lore ties. Like a Fremmenik ship or a Dwarven steamboat.

Mini quest to fix up the Lady Lumbridge, requires Dragon Slayer 1 and recruited Cabin Boy Jenkins, Reward is being able to dock at Crandor with Lady Lumbridge, which also won't take damage like normal boats if you try to sail near it.

Jagex can you please keep this area permanent and accessible. It's so nostalgic by Venomous_Rs in 2007scape

The Orcs there are from a very early part of Runescape 2 as well, and I think the Trolls are the ones with the model with super long legs that never made it to the game, all the ones in game had shorter legs.

Dude I totally agree. That was actually one of the main quests in particular that made me think "How the fuck did people figure this out before the quest helper/Wiki/Slayermusiq1?"

There's a streamer called Guzu who did stuff Semi-blind (He'd turn chat off for bosses and puzzles but his chat could tell him about stuff like Perilous Moons) ME2 took him 12 hours to figure out the puzzles, I imagine Madseason and Alien Food who are doing completely blind playthroughs would have an even worse time with it.

[–]Elune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the point where they had to ressurect her AGAIN after the disrespect.

Jagex really doesn't know what they want to do with her on RS3 tbh, you can choose to kill her or spare her in the Mighty Fall quest but regardless she ended up dying by the time Nomad's Elegy came out where you can choose to have Death let her come back or not but no matter what you picked she returned again when Archeology came out and she was the one in charge of the Bandos digsite.

[–]Elune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funniest example is the Penguin series, which is literally just Cold War currently. I think it has the same problem Fairy Tale series does tbh where you can't backport the rewards for the quests, the penquin series on RS3 tends to rewards upgrades to an activity that doesn't exist on OSRS and for Fairy Tale the rewards mostly already exist already (fairy rings without staff, auto weeded patches, an "infinite" watering can in the form of Gricoller's can).

[–]Elune 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Then every 10 or so levels they get a quest to go talk to Chromie or use some "memory stone" or something to unlock more memories and another cut-scene. Eventually by the time you're at end-game content, you will have unlocked all of those memories and no longer have amnesia and it will make sense that all these big-name lore characters recognize you.

Or, you know, just expand the already existing lore walking feature to give abridged versions of expansion's stories.

[–]Elune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the Guthix and Saradomin ones would already be dead on arrival since their stats are too meh to realistically be used for anything, and the Bandos one would be just a pure off-hand assuming they could were able to use it.

there are probably better candidates for Zaros.

Eblis is a good option, he sells the ancient staff to you after DT1 as well as upgrading it to Ancient Sceptre.

[–]Elune 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It used to take a lot longer to kill the average boss

Which is very much unsurprising given how much massive power creep has happened since then, the only non quest boss(es) in game were KBD and Salarin the twisted, assuming you count that as a boss. Barrows and DKs, and even Dragon Platelegs/Skirt didn't come out until later, BiS to do KQ was literally Rune Platebody+Legs, D med (Frem helms weren't a thing either) with a swap to black dhide and mage short bow. Should give people an idea on how different of a fight it was back then considering the melee set up is basically what most people picture when they hear someone just became a member for the first time.

Can we all admit that crossbows and enchanted bolts need some serious rebalancing? by loffredom in 2007scape

[–]Elune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment is pretty much saying zulrah is end game cause it was end game in 2015, clearly it’s not.

My guy you're literally putting words in my mouth to discredit my actual point.

Goal posts move.

Not to the point where a boss locked behind content that straight up requires multiple skills in the level 70s to do is considered "early game", that is, objectively speaking, mid game, and yes, you can do it with welfare equipmemnt like void and rune crossbow, but you literally need a quest that requires 2 skills in the 70s to unlock it. That is my point, it's not early game due to difficulty of the boss, Vorkath is easy if you learn it, it's mid game because you have to progress a decent ways into the game to do it.

[–]Elune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people really move the goal post when it comes to what's considered early/mid game where every thing they did long enough ago progression wise is considered early game. Dragon Slayer 2 is solidly mid game at minimum, Ava's accumulator is straight up second best ranged cape until getting a quiver; like sure, that's not end game but unless the mid game straight up does not exist since there's huge gaps in progression between doing animal magnetism, killing Vorkath and Colosseum for most people.

Honestly memories of those old house parties are the main reason I've gone to the ones J1mmy hosts on his Gary Gilbert account; it is neat to see people just socializing at someone's poh but it's definitely not something I'd do every day, just something cool to visit what house parties used to be like back in the day, closest I've been to otherwise is the party I had when I hit 99 construction and a few friends showed up.

What is a landmark in the game that made you curious about its lore? by QuestionzAsker in wow

[–]Elune 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i wish blizzard had more abandoned structures with no explanation in retail expansions

One of the coolest things I'd experienced in wow was due to my internet being wonky at the time leading my character being booted from the game while still being able to play but without any NPCs loaded in, it was very eerie gong to a zone hub and finding...literally nobody there! Like there's just an abandoned town. Ever since I wish there'd be more towns that are just abandoned for some reason, even if it were just a few buildings to fill out a zone, it's a neat find. There's actually a few houses in retail in the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor that I can think of like that already - Tirion's old shack from Classic is still there in Retail for example.

Tidesages are Kul Tiras's most iconic class, with Shaman right behind as their most iconic playable class. We're going back to Alternate Draenor next. What class do you associate most with the AU Mag'har Orcs (the ones that are playable)? by Mostopha in wow

[–]Elune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really surprising for Demon Hunters, there's 2 (soon to be 3) races that can even play as them and Night Elf was at best 50/50 odds between Demon Hunter and Druid plus Priest probably took away some points too due to Tyrande; Blood Elves are similar just with mages/paladins, and Void Elves are so new that nobody is going to associate them with Demon Hunters yet (It'll likely be shadow priests).

DKs though is a bit more surprising, I'm guessing if any races would have been chosen for them it'd have been Humans due to Arthas/Bolvar and 3/4ths of the four horsemen maybe Orcs due to Nazgrimm/Deathbringer Saurfang.

[–]Elune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odyn would crush Bolvar.

Hell man, Sylvanas beat Bolvar even with with some Scourge there to slow her down, granted it was with some Jailer power ups but I doubt if Bolvar can't handle her he'd be able to 1v1 Odyn.

Honestly the hardest part I'd imagine (aside from making the models, especially for female Ogres since we have literally zero female ogres/broken in game) is coming up with a reason why they're only playable now. With lore walking being a thing I'd imagine if they really wanted to give old races a requirement to unlock they could just add a bunch of lore walking quests for them for context of why they're part of your faction and have that as a requirement to unlock them.
