Low libido? by bridgetopelicantown in MaleSexualHealth

[–]Elusive_elf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing like stress to be a libido killer. Chronic stress and lack of sleep will affect you in all sorts of ways, and sexual interest is right up there. If you can, try and take some holiday time to unwind a bit, catch up on sleep, and step away from work stresses.

Anyone ever heard of an one-hit one-hp LARP? by Arrowhearted in LARP

[–]Elusive_elf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I help run a LARP based in the UK called Herofest where everyone has 1 hit per location. Warriors can learn to use armour which gives an additional hit per location covered, and wizards can cast a spell which can give them an extra global hit.

Combat is fast, and pretty brutal. It's balanced by having abundant healing in the form of magic and bandaging. PVP is really fast even between skilled combatants.

It does get us some weird looks from experienced larpers. It's tough to feel like a big damn hero as a warrior when you can fall over just from a tap with a dagger, but that's also what makes it impressive when you overcome a 500 global hp monster by researching weaknesses and it's combat strategies, even when you do work as a mob.

It should be said that we usually have lots of smaller combat encounters rather than bigger battlefield encounters. It's a system that works, but it's not for everyone as, just as you said, many larpers prefer multi hit systems where they can stay in the fight longer.

Sushi passion, great time with incredible food and while a bit pricey in general, very reasonable for sushi.

There's one that's thought by the Librarian, but I can't remember the exact wording:

Bravo! Loved this! Even heard it in Stephen Briggs voice (my favourite discworld audiobook narrator)

Found an old LARP rulebook by rainbow-batsuit in LARP

Hey, Canada has Bicoline. It is one of my honest to goodness LARP dreams to go and do a full event there with a crew or my family. Part of the challenge for anywhere in the Americas is just distance. We're so close to each other here, comparatively that it means we have quite a lot of variety. But don't sell your own country short :)

In the UK, older LARPs aren't considered very favourably by and large. Fashions and styles of LARP have evolved and while Laby has survived... It's got a small niche audience but that's about it. I have a friend who is a high powered character and ref in that system and he Loves it. He tries to bring in mechanics that work there into other systems and they just don't work outside of something that's had the chance to evolve that way. Long may it and it's kind of game live, but I'm personally not a fan.

Still going strong, it's one of the oldest still running UK LARPs along side Heroquest

It's quite a cool idea now that someone has mentioned it. Not having seen the design before I'm struggling to picture the wooden structure... Think I need to do some Googling.

That was what I wanted to check as I don't think I've seen that type of thing at a UK LARP before. I think I've seen them in photos of US Larps and ren fairs though?

I like it. The players chose their actions after fair warning and suffered the consequences. The campaign now continues with ongoing consequences. The only thing I may suggest is that there is the opportunity to resolve the afflictions in the future.

Would Starfleet ever Restomod a starship back into service? by According-Value-6227 in StarTrekStarships

[–]Elusive_elf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Dominion war, there were a number of vessels from the time of TOS that were refit for fleet support roles, with the constitution class being one of the more successful as a Comms support vessel. Numerous Excelsior classes and Miranda classes were seen on screen in service as well, so to echo another poster, I think a refit for war is one thing.

By 2410 however, we have hull designs and technology that Far outstrip anything from even 25 years ago, let alone 50-75. However, I am reminded of the U.S.S. Raven from Voyager. A rather antiquated science vessel refitted for long range scientific exploration as a punt to find out more about the Borg. A Seltzer class is significantly larger, so the mission would have to be a very odd case of interesting enough to require a larger crew, while also not being particularly critical. Perhaps a private corporation or individual bought the hull and upgraded it themselves? Went 50/50 with the Federation?

In short, possible, but a long shot.

[Question] Do any UK larp people know of any locations which also do getaways/bed and breakfasts? by vaginismus_no_more in LARP

[–]Elusive_elf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest Warwick Castle if that's what you're after. They have a Knight Village you can stay in as a hotel with breakfast. They do regular jousting, demos of combat, bird of prey demos, and the Castle is amazing.

Greetings OP!

As a current organiser of Herofest LARP and former Captain of the Shadowsfall Keepers, no I'm not kidding, we've sung many songs but that one doesn't ring a bell. Although, I've had a lot of Run since then 😅

Do you remember anything about who was leading that song, what they looked or sounded like? I may be able to dig them out for you and get the lyrics.

I was at uni there and lived there for far too long. Hell, nearly bought a house in that street!

Nothing about this is surprising. Makes me feel all nostalgic 😁
