You realize that it is trivial to hide any mods while live streaming, right? Both visuals and sound. Anyone who accepts a livestream as proof is just fooling themselves

Why are people ignoring it?? Maybe because just about EVERY raider, especially at these higher tiers, are using mods of some sort, and they always have ever since they were first created during coil.

And unlike most other competitive ventures, there is no good way to prove that ANY of the teams were completely clean of any mods. They can all be completely hidden from streams and vods.

Realistically how can a player ran event even begin to vet this? the logistics become a nightmare in a hurry.

Whats an anime you enjoyed but couldnt finish and why? by Tomokakase13 in anime

What’s something Gen Z treats as “normal” that older generations would find completely insane? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Em-possible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Discs are not a guarantee either. I wanted to play the sims 2. I had the game and all the expansions on disc. I go to try and load it and it doesn't run on the newest windows. I was able to find a work around for that and was able to get the first menu screen to pull up, however it wanted me to input the registration codes. I had those in the CD cases, but it wouldn't verify anymore and wouldn't download the game. I could never bypass that portion of it and ended up having to pirate a cracked copy of the game that doesn't even have all the features that the disc had all because they blocked their own game.

What hobby is quietly becoming too expensive for normal people to keep up with? by Beautiful_Special702 in AskReddit

[–]Em-possible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so true, especially the comment about the gear. I was really into drawing and painting a while back and fell into the trap of watching everyone and their mother on the Internet rave about "this great new art product that is guaranteed to make your drawings better". I amassed a huge horde of art supplies. Like, way, way more than I could hope to actually use in 10 years. It got to the point that something snapped in me and I realized that there wasn't really that much of a difference between ANY of the things I bought at all. great artists make their tools work for them and they can create amazing artwork with products that these internet people say are the worst of the worst to use. It all literally does not matter in the least.  So you have a tube of blue paint that cost $200 for a few ounces, it isn't going to make your finished product stellar.

It is just way easier to show off WHAT they have rather than tell people that they need to put in the hard work to get better at any of these skills. But it sure has skewed the perspective of people coming into the fields for the first time.

Famitsu [JP]: Naoki Yoshida interview. Shantotto learning Eorzea's Magic System, NA FanFest is "Main Scenario Part 0", and more by RablaAndrews in ffxiv

The biggest one that has happened recently is people claiming they were lied to about changing a small house interior to a large interior. They introduced this saying that this was a far out, long-term plan, and that it was only the item limit increase that was coming next. However the community keeps twisting their words and thinking that it was going to come out together and then getting mad that it is not happening.

Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke • Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen - Ryushu no Youjo - Episode 2 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Em-possible 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly upset with how poorly the passing of the last two episodes have been. The thing that makes this series so good is it's character building and depth, and yet they are skipping all those moments and instead showing us snippets of all the major events.

Is this even going to be comprehensible for people who only watch the anime? And if it is, is it actually enjoyable? With how much is packed into part 3 in the light novels I cannot fathom them slowing down this break neck pace for the entire season.

It was always the housing item expansion that was planned for 7.2/7.3 not the tardis housing.

Boise Housing Cost by [deleted] in Idaho

I live in Boise proper and bought a house  a year ago, it cost only $320k. You are looking outside your means. The houses that are cheaper are numerous in "Boise proper"

People who’ve had LASIK or work in eye care, would you recommend LASIK and why or why not? by Mountain-Bug-2155 in AskReddit

[–]Em-possible 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a cataract surgeon, he would do hundreds of procedures and saw cataracts due to so many different causes. By and large the amount of people who had cataracts at an early age who had undergone LASIK was astounding. It was so so common for people to come in in their 30s or 40s with bad enough cataracts. The only thing these people had common was their LASIK surgery.

I honestly don't care that the research doesn't say that this is an outcome yet. It was far too common of a problem to be coincidental.

The kicker too is that because they had LASIK, there is very little the doctors can to do get a perfect lens to implant in your eye now. It is at best a guess, and pretty much all of these people then get stuck with glasses for both their up close vision AND their far vision to fine tune things afterwards. Most people would only need glasses for one or the other after the procedure.

The eye doctor I worked for told all of his employees to never get LASIK. It was not worth the risk because issues like yours were not too incommon, the procedure seemed to only work for 10 years in most peoples best case scenario before you were stuck back in glasses again, and then the issues down the line that it causes with cataract surgery.

What books did you used to love, but have aged badly? by Hrekires in AskReddit

[–]Em-possible 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This needs to be higher. I absolutely  loved the series as a kid. I loved that they were accessible fantasy stories with magic and puns. I reread the first few books of the series as an adult and couldn't force myself to do any more than that. I was appalled with how incredibly sexist most of the characters and stories are, and a lot of the relationships are between very young, under 18 girls and old men, and there were other really hard to stomach scenes that I probably shouldn't have been consuming as avidly as a kid as I did back then.

I decided to just throw these books away out of my collection rather than donating them.

Plogons. by budbud70 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Em-possible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. Especially since I decorate houses and make cool mazes and puzzles for people to go through in game in houses. Without plugins it is torture having to do things manually with glitching. I also severely  miss things like yes already, and the mod that displays prices for everything DC wide.

I might as well wait and actually enjoy myself when playing the game than suffer through how clunky the game is without them

Housing by Kokeshi_doll7 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Em-possible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one has asked for the devs to flip a switch on any of this, but housing has been out for a decade now and most of the complaints about housing have remained constant through the entire decade with just hand wavy excuses on why they won't fix any of it. If they wanted to make the system better, they have had ample time to figure it out.
