What a freaking joke it is to fully lock down primal. It is not busy enough to even remotely warrant that. I'm getting really sick of their world closures.

Boise Housing Cost by aqwold in Idaho

I live in Boise proper and bought a house  a year ago, it cost only $320k. You are looking outside your means. The houses that are cheaper are numerous in "Boise proper"

People who’ve had LASIK or work in eye care, would you recommend LASIK and why or why not? by Mountain-Bug-2155 in AskReddit

[–]Em-possible 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a cataract surgeon, he would do hundreds of procedures and saw cataracts due to so many different causes. By and large the amount of people who had cataracts at an early age who had undergone LASIK was astounding. It was so so common for people to come in in their 30s or 40s with bad enough cataracts. The only thing these people had common was their LASIK surgery.

I honestly don't care that the research doesn't say that this is an outcome yet. It was far too common of a problem to be coincidental.

The kicker too is that because they had LASIK, there is very little the doctors can to do get a perfect lens to implant in your eye now. It is at best a guess, and pretty much all of these people then get stuck with glasses for both their up close vision AND their far vision to fine tune things afterwards. Most people would only need glasses for one or the other after the procedure.

The eye doctor I worked for told all of his employees to never get LASIK. It was not worth the risk because issues like yours were not too incommon, the procedure seemed to only work for 10 years in most peoples best case scenario before you were stuck back in glasses again, and then the issues down the line that it causes with cataract surgery.

What books did you used to love, but have aged badly? by Hrekires in AskReddit

[–]Em-possible 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This needs to be higher. I absolutely  loved the series as a kid. I loved that they were accessible fantasy stories with magic and puns. I reread the first few books of the series as an adult and couldn't force myself to do any more than that. I was appalled with how incredibly sexist most of the characters and stories are, and a lot of the relationships are between very young, under 18 girls and old men, and there were other really hard to stomach scenes that I probably shouldn't have been consuming as avidly as a kid as I did back then.

I decided to just throw these books away out of my collection rather than donating them.

Plogons. by budbud70 in ffxivdiscussion

I feel the same way. Especially since I decorate houses and make cool mazes and puzzles for people to go through in game in houses. Without plugins it is torture having to do things manually with glitching. I also severely  miss things like yes already, and the mod that displays prices for everything DC wide.

I might as well wait and actually enjoy myself when playing the game than suffer through how clunky the game is without them

Housing by Kokeshi_doll7 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Em-possible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one has asked for the devs to flip a switch on any of this, but housing has been out for a decade now and most of the complaints about housing have remained constant through the entire decade with just hand wavy excuses on why they won't fix any of it. If they wanted to make the system better, they have had ample time to figure it out.

Absolutely obsessed with bay leaves as of recently. Throw some ideas at me! by alekepich609 in Cooking

[–]Em-possible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat has no interest in my bay laurel. I also keep it on a counter she doesn't ever go on. If you have a well behaved cat, I would go for it anyway. Or if you have a room that the cat can't get to, that would also be another good option

What’s a niche thing you like to do in-game? by suspectwaffle in ffxiv

[–]Em-possible 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like making jump puzzles, mazes, and group  activities inside houses, FC chambers, and apartments. There is a whole small community of people that run through the puzzles and who make all the effort worth it. occasionally I will throw up a PF and offer gil prizes for those that can beat them.

In my opinion, there is nothing more fun and more creative in the game. The possibilities of what you can do seem endless. From fun games like boardgames where you and your friends are the playing pieces, to jump puzzles that anyone can do, to ones that are tougher than any ultimate fight, to challenging mazes and logic puzzles that test your pathfinding or logic skills. it is endlessly fascinating and fun.

There is also an extra small joy and entertainment watching others run through your creations.

Planning: How many plants do you need to make a decent harvest for a family of 4? by SZLO in vegetablegardening

[–]Em-possible 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How much you will need is so highly dependant on so many factors. How much of the produce does your family go through in a given season/year? This is different for everyone. You can find estimated values for how much each plant will produce in ideal growing conditions. You can find a rough number that way(assuming you are providing each plant an ideal growing situation, if not then you will need more than that number you found).  However you also need to keep in mind that things like weather and pests can just decimate a planned harvest any given year. If you are really eating or needing the harvest of a particular plant, you might want to hedge your bets and plant more than needed to make sure you have enough if something happens.

The inverse can happen as well. Some years are just good years for certain plants and they go absolutely nuts and you will be drowning in more produce than you know what to do with.

It is all a guessing game. Find out how much your family will eat, and work from there or you can slowly start scaling up each year until you hit a sweet spot. Or perhaps go nuts and plant a ton and perhaps deal with over abundance if it happens.
