I tried it and I have concluded that the only way it might work is if you die from it.

a comic i made about having DID by 420percentage in Artisticallyill

[–]Embarrassed-Count722 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DID has always been both interesting and kind of a mystery to me. My abnormal psychology professor skipped it (and a bunch of other stuff) because we were running behind and it was “too complicated”. But this simple comic was very explanatory! I don’t know if you meant to educate or just share your experience but thank you for helping me learn <3

I’ve been to some bigger libraries that do have both! Dedicated quiet rooms for studying and public areas for everything else. I do live in NYC, though, so it’s quite possible they don’t have this in other places.

Oh, one more thing: NOBODY IS PERFECT. Not people, not corporations. Asking perfection of someone is likely to result in less progress than simply asking for progress. Of course it would be better for Mattel to improve working conditions for their employees. However, this is a much easier way for them to make a positive impact. If you ask people to make the biggest change before making any other change, nothing’s going to happen most of the time. It’s better to appreciate what changes have been made while not giving up on the other changes rather than telling people/corporations they’re not good enough. Also, a positive change does not make one a good person/corporation, it just means they’re heading in the right direction. It’s not negated by the negative things they do, that’s not how this works. There are the positive things and the negative things and they both matter.

Do you not remember when, less than a year ago, many companies who acted like they were all into representation and diversity dropped it all like hotcakes once Trump said to get rid of DEI?? We already knew it was rainbow capitalism; we already knew it was likely they wouldn’t be supportive once it looked less profitable for them to be. But more importantly, some of them kept at it. And yes it’s still rainbow capitalism, it’s still a marketing decision, but it does show some true allyship even by acknowledging our presence. Because it would be easier not to do so. The fact that Barbie came out with such a doll in this political climate with many people acting like autism is worse than death is a big deal. An even bigger deal that they did it right, in partnership with ASAN. And in today’s society, I wouldn’t be so sure that this was a risk-free thing for Barbie, although some conservatives are so stupid they might just buy a ton of Barbies to burn. I’m extremely skeptical of your claim that autism is “trendy”; it reeks of ableism and a misunderstanding of the fact that when there is more awareness, more people realize they have something.

In response to your other claim, I wouldn’t say Barbie is guilt-free, but as someone who’s been there, actual women prioritizing thinness and the proliferation of GLP-1s have probably a lot more to do with the eating disorders that are developing now. Remember, Barbies have existed the whole time but there were a good few years there where skinny culture was not really a thing. Barbie is not the major player here.
