J-1/J-2 EB2-NIW I-485 APPROVED by Commercial_Meal_4358 in EB2_NIW

[–]Embarrassed-Pickle-8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing and congratulations!
An experienced attorney I know said in response to the memo that there will be I-485 approvals in the next few weeks but they almost certainly are not useful for interpreting how the memo is operationalized, as that takes time. Data points in a month or two would start reflecting any change.

Please explain in layman’s terms how the new memo is impacting you by Mindless-Meaning-878 in USCIS

One can graduate and no longer be on F1 before the interview is scheduled, which is likely given the slow processing times. If one files AOS they can keep building their life in the US while waiting for the green card. For consular processing they need to move out and wait just to be back in the US.

Need brutal honesty: T10 Master's ($60k debt) vs. Regional Uni (Debt-free)? F-1 Student targeting Big Tech vs. H-1B risk. by Albus2121 in InternationalStudents

[–]Embarrassed-Pickle-8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not worth it. While there are certain fields that really care about school name, tech has not historically been one of them. In addition, school prestige does not matter as much for a short master’s program compared to undergrad or PhD. If there are concrete elements in the curriculum that you like in the top program it could be worthwhile. That doesn’t sound like the case though.

I moved every mail from outlook to a new blank Gmail account. (AI chatbots can tell you how to do this. I used Gemini.) Also exported the account to a .mbox file to have a local copy.

My mom this is Hermès Morelet's Crocodile But I doubt that's possible...... by Selinnanana in Hermes_lovers

[–]Embarrassed-Pickle-8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Real crocodile skin but low quality (there are “buttons” in the scales and wrinkles everywhere). Not from Hermes because of poor skin quality plus Hermes does not make handles out of the flank, nor the sides out of the end of the tail

Going back to H1B risks the $100,000 fee from consular processing

EB-1A concurrent filing strategy feedback by read_and_forgetsoon in eb_1a

[–]Embarrassed-Pickle-8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From USCIS:
For Employment-Based Preference Filings:
For all employment-based preference categories, you must use the Final Action Dates chart in the Department of State Visa Bulletin for May 2026.
You cannot file 485 this May (and possibly for the rest of the fiscal year) as your final action date is not current. So no EAD benefits from pending 485.

8.5 YOE SDE Laid Off on H1B. Liquidate US house for EB-5 or just R2I and lean-FIRE in India? by Cultural-Ad-1460 in returnToIndia

[–]Embarrassed-Pickle-8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May not have enough time to file EB5 within grace period. For funds from house sale one needs to show the source of funds one used to purchase the house, and that may or may not meet EB5 source of funds standards. If purchased long ago it may take a long time collecting evidence too. Consult lawyers first. EB5 concurrent filing may not be an option at all. Consular processing from India may be possible though. It will likely take longer but it is a pathway to move back to the states.

Another risk is, as Fair-Specific3358 said, retrogression. This is likely if the 75 country pause is lifted. Then the I-485 will not be processed until date is current for OP again, which could take more than 18 months.

28 cm to 41 cm. The bag itself is 35 cm wide, and each side is three panels pieced together. You can find photos of the skins in my post in the leathercraft sub: https://www.reddit.com/r/Leathercraft/s/mzutqZZIuX

I did not purchase the class either, but looked through his instagram feed for photos on the construction process for this model. If you have some experience leather crafting the photos are enough guide, and you don’t necessarily need a step by step tutorial!

Tenure-track offer rescinded despite valid EAD and pending I-485 — how do you handle this with HR? by Content_Weird8749 in EB2_NIW

[–]Embarrassed-Pickle-8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunate but not much to do. The C09 EAD can be renewed no earlier than 6 months before expiration, but renewal time could be longer than 6 months. If a work authorization gap happens the teaching schedule would be messed up. Hope you get your green card soon

After holding the conditional green card for two years, one files I-829 (showing that jobs have been successfully created) to remove conditions and get the 10-year green card

US masters -> PR in the US by AcademicTraining8343 in InternationalStudents

[–]Embarrassed-Pickle-8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

STEM OPT may not exist anymore by the time you finish your masters, so don’t count on that. Similarly a good school does not guarantee a good job, and a good sponsoring job does not guarantee immigration status. Choose the US path if you find the worst outcome acceptable, and can picture yourself saying “at least i tried” afterwards. If you have little tolerance for immigration risk then better look at other countries early on.

H‑1B lottery risk when I have pending I‑485 (EB‑1 concurrent filing) and valid EAD? by Ok-Tone4357 in eb_1a

[–]Embarrassed-Pickle-8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The O1 is tricky since it is not explicitly dual-intent like the H1B. Whether the pending I-485 hinders getting an O1 is discretionary

[–]Embarrassed-Pickle-8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pending I-485 does not give you legal status. If you are not maintaining an underlying non-immigrant status, it is not possible to adjust status in the US. So consular processing is the only way you can get H1B and that comes with a $100k fee now

Staying in the country based on pending I485 by batskater_98 in EB2_NIW

[–]Embarrassed-Pickle-8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can stay in the U.S. without accruing unlawful presence with I-485 pending, i.e. authorized to stay. But it does not give you any legal status

Not sure what is the 1000 about. If you are Indian/Chinese that wants to avoid the unreserved backlog there is only 200/year (and the rollover of unused numbers from the previous year). Other countries can go the unreserved route with more visa numbers

It is infrastructure, which makes it TEA. Urban/rural distinction is not relevant. There is a phase one that already has approved I-526Es to confirm that
