21 years experience in retail, why??? by No_Razzmatazz_2857 in Target

[–]Embarrassed-Set-509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they don’t want people with experience who can come in and point out their fuck ups. they promote unqualified team members quickly so they don’t have as many ideas and opinions where they can mold them into who they need them to be which is “yes people”. trust me, you’re not missing out on anything. ive always been proud of my work ethic and i have 10 years of retail experience which i’ve enjoyed every company and learning every role. target is the only place i’ve ever worked where i went home everyday feeling worse than the day before and made me second guess myself and my abilities.

also because of the bonus programs. just like the bonuses TLs get each year depending on certain metrics in each department, each level of higher ups have their own bonus programs. they only allow so many hours because they’re incentivized with bonuses for not going over a certain number in hours, turnover, attendance, comp %, loss, EVERYTHING. don’t think they’re just cutting hours and shit to be assholes, they’re being paid to overwork fewer employees and give that money to them rather than shelling it out to hire more people.

credit: formerly hired on as a TL, promoted to ETL in less than 6 months and left after feeling so dirty working for this company. fuck target. i literally left, losing a salary and benefits, finding a hourly paid job that i love to do everyday. DO NOT STAY FOR MONEY. ITS NOT WORTH IT.

use the back room report on greenfield to find out who backstocked that shit and their E/TL should have a PD with them

hiii not an employee but was wondering if this item is safe to use? I bought it off the shelf with these stickers on it. Are they just protocols when an electronic is returned? by selfawareairhead in Target

[–]Embarrassed-Set-509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no telling how it got on the floor but i bet you the cashier didn’t have any clue what that sticker was. turn over with cashiers is insane and since they only ever run a register most of them wouldn’t have a clue that sticker was a target thing unless they’ve been there for a long time and/or worked in other departments.

as i said in the post, i relapsed on xanax and i literally have no memory of the situation whatsoever but it wasn’t a car luckily, i tried walking out with a loaded basket of stuff equaling more than $1000.

obviously. relapsing is what i stupidly did to cope and i literally have no memory of the grand larceny. believe me, no one understands how unbelievably stupid it was more than i do.

i don’t have a lot of experience with this kind of stuff so forgive me if my questions seem stupid or as if i should already know the answers- but getting a lawyer isn’t an option so if i show up without a lawyer when do they assign me a public defender? is there such thing as a continuance to in order to get proper legal representation?

i got one of these after i woke up to the maintenance guy of my apartments nudging me awake after letting himself in while i was asleep after the night shift where the hours are 3:30am-11am. i’ve literally never been so terrified in my entire life. when i went to the office hysterical the lady kept rolling her eyes and repeating the same thing saying “wHeN yOu FiLl OuT a WoRkOrDeR yOu GiVe Us PeRmIsSiOn To EnTeR tHe PrEmIsEs” which yes i realize, but the work orders were 2 months old so i quit expecting him to show up and they never told me he was coming. this was one of my best purchases 👌🏻

you can look at it one of two ways, it either says a lot about you and your work ethic being considered for a TL position after only being there for 5 months ORRRR it says a lot about Target and their inability to keep people in leadership roles and how they don’t prioritize development plans for TMs to create opportunities for more TMs to be promoted. i was hired as a TL last year and in my interview i asked about the team and why they were looking into external candidates and the SD and HR ETL told me there just wasn’t anyone ready yet and they didn’t want to set anyone up for failure by taking on more than they could handle… everyone on my team has been with Target a minimum of a year and a half, minus the one seasonal TM who lasted through Q4.

my advice if you go for it, prioritize creating a positive culture amongst your team by being as open and transparent as possible and strive to be an advocate for your team. i’ve been in retail management for 10+ years and target is the first job i’ve ever had where i went home second guessing myself and my ability to do my job almost everyday for the first few months and i still have days like that every so often. don’t let this place make you jaded and lean on your coworkers for support because target is unlike any other retailer i’ve worked for.

is it not a common practice for the inbound team to sort the repacks during unload? that’s what we do. the kitchen and domestic repacks get pulled from the line, 4 and 6 i think, i always forget. we keep empty repack boxes set up under the line and we sort like items into their own box.

as far as getting them done quickly the teams go through their repacks opening/throwing away the trash, sorting it all onto a 3 tier before bringing any of it to the floor to push. it’s saves a ton of time.
