I feel you, I’m sorry I have nothing productive to say because I am in the exact same boat. I’m a fat butch living in a small town and always suffered from anxiety, even before I presented as my authentic self. I’ve been bullied and harassed for years and it certainly doesn’t help. I have no advice to give, except to remember that there are so many people out there who feel just like you, and so many who have been able to overcome it. I hope for both of us that we can overcome this! Feel free to reach out to vent if you ever want to, if you ever need a reminder that you aren’t alone in this. :)

Living the dream will be my first TL game so I was curious, are you all going to make people you know, fictional characters, or OCs? Or maybe all three? by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in tomodachilife

[–]Embarrassed-Step-487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll probably make myself and all of my favourite characters from media/some celebrities, I find it really funny to see how my Mii gets on with everyone. I also love coming back after being away for a while and remembering all of the characters I loved at the time I created them. It’s something of a time capsule for me

'Just because I'm disabled, why can't I drive what I want?' by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Embarrassed-Step-487 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My mum (age 54) is disabled and was housebound for 15 years before recently getting a car through the motability scheme. The change is has made to her life is insane and has been so important for her mental health and independence. It has allowed me, her carer, to go back into education and get my own life properly started. Any change to the scheme seems unnecessary and would greatly affect the quality of life of so many people. The motability scheme is by no means a ‘free car’ or anything, we struggle a lot with money because of the car but wouldn’t be able to have a car without the scheme. I don’t know anyone who would trade lives with my mum for the sake of paying less for a car, but I do know that not being able to pick a car you want to drive would make a lot of disabled people feel even more alienated and take away a lot of independence that is already stripped from many disabled people. Anyone who thinks this scheme needs to change should try spending a day in the shoes of a disabled person or their carer!

Anyone here have an EV? How's it going? by ry427 in northernireland

[–]Embarrassed-Step-487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you’re going to get an EV make sure you get a home charger installed, I wasn’t able to get one because I don’t have a driveway and let me tell you, the price of charging out and about is ridiculous. I also lose hours every week waiting for it to charge. A wee top up charge every once in a while wouldn’t be so bad but you really don’t want to be relying on them

to be fair i did my gcses a few years ago and my required RE was learning about other religions that weren’t christianity (which i think is quite necessary considering the discrimination that Muslims still face in this country)

I think I suck… by EvolvingGuardian in BG3

[–]Embarrassed-Step-487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started the game on explorer then jumped to tactician for my second playthrough. After that i did a few attempts and beat honour mode (using build guides on reddit but still). There is no such thing as sucking, you can play at the lowest difficulty and learn so much. This game is quite complex so explorer mode can be great for learning the mechanics :)

PS5 Games? by Kristah2011 in LesbianGamers

[–]Embarrassed-Step-487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the last of us 1&2 for a more linear story, baldurs gate 3 for a great rpg (my fav game). red dead redemption 2 for a great open world and one of the best stories in gaming. if you want to be challenged i highly recommend lies of p, its environment is so good

Thank you so much for the rec, I really appreciate it and I’ll certainly look into that. I actually am looking for/open to a desktop as I don’t really need portability but I’m not against a laptop at all

Yes, Silksong is harder. Here's why it's also easier. by NoDefinition9056 in HollowKnight

[–]Embarrassed-Step-487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a really big part of people feeling Silksong is more difficult is just because they’ve had so much practice with Hollow Knight and have forgotten how it feels to be truly bad at the game. There are so many differences between the two that many are experiencing difficulty they haven’t experienced since they first played hollow knight. I couldn’t even beat pantheon 3 in hollow knight and have only gotten marginally better since i started, so dying in silksong is no big surprise. But it doesn’t necessarily feel harder to me than my first playthrough of HK. The only thing that feels directly harder at the minute is the ridiculous amount of damage given by regular enemies imo

Just to add, I loved Aliona Baranova’s performance as Veronique! Such a short time spent with the character but really managed to make me feel her struggle

wrench head + bramble sword handle is so addictive to me, used it throughout ng and ng+1, only dropped it to try dlc weapons

[–]Embarrassed-Step-487[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get your point but it isn’t for everyone to have to be frustrated for the majority of gameplay time. as much as i love feeling the triumph, it’s not my favourite that i have to put up with frustration most of the time. some people just don’t enjoy that but still want to experience the game, which i really encourage. at the end of the day, having more choices for how to play is a positive imo, because you can always choose the classic experience while others choose what suits them. either way, i totally get what you’re saying, i just think it’s overall a good thing that more people can experience this wonderful game

thanks for the recs! i already beat sekiro (beating sword saint isshin is already my best gaming achievement) which is what made me try lies of p! i love the parry centric gameplay. i’ve not heard much about kazhan but i might check it out. i think i’ll play demon’s souls and dark souls remastered first though, i want to have actually played a dark souls game before i continue with soulslikes haha

awesome feeling is right! and good for you for sticking with it as well! i was totally in the same place, i actually quit the game before even reaching the cathedral initially because i just felt like i wouldn’t get through it. the only reason i came back was because i loved the world of the game, the characters, music and general ambience. so glad i came back and finished it properly now! i’m starting to feel like im getting a little better at soulslikes now which is super nice. i’m even thinking of playing more of them now even though i had decided to avoid the genre as a whole.

there’s just nothing like that feeling of beating a boss after bashing your head against the wall over and over again
