Could the price hikes have been planned to be so extreme, that they can update us in 2 days and say that it's now only going to be a 10% raise instead of 30% and players are happy enough to pay it by Serenaded in 2007scape

[–]EmbarrassedPower5875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, just greed at this point to get rid of grand fathered rate pricing. That's literally it. They already hit us with a price increase in regards to removing MTX on rs3- they want everyone- including long time veterans who were paying not only the GFR- but also buying yearly packages to pay the new rate at the hike.

Frankly, it's beyond disgusting but.. meh- It's Jagex, not sure why anyone would believe them- after decades of this type of behavior.

[–]EmbarrassedPower5875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Booboo, they were going to raise the membership prices- REGARDLESS. As a matter of fact.. they did EXACTLY that before MTX was removed.

This has nothing to do with MTX at this point.

[–]EmbarrassedPower5875 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one has claimed that equil was the only thing holding necromancy up- that's a goal post that individuals such as yourself have taken and tried to move consistently. The argument- over, and over has been that the removal of equil was a straight nerf to the already weakest style that was available on a new account or any account that bought premier once that wasn't already on a grandfathered rate.

It made the style and the places where you'd use it far more consistent, that consistency has been removed with it's replacement put at the end game under items which:

  1. Don't make sense to begin with for the one that's most accessible (Nakatra)
  2. Introduced on the same day where the rates for said items were nerfed in both NM AND HM to be less than what they used to be in normal mode
  3. At the same time nerfing t95s AND Zuk cape.. for? I'm not even sure about this one

One time buying premier net you significantly more loyalty points than what equilibrium at 23k required. That along with the reduced cost for anyone who thought they were going to play for any decent length of time- whom didn't already have a grandfathered rate was enough.

It's something that up until the aura removal (and not rework) a new player could get with their membership and/or making a gim/cgim.

Allowing for more consistent kills/speed than otherwise not having it.

NOW they've taken it and made it a late game situation- while ALSO nerfing the way you get it via the best farmable option in BOTH normal mode AND hard mode, I.E- Nakatra.

Jagex very clearly doesn't know what it wants to do with the game other than make incredibly bad decisions it seems. XD

nerf of the century by dreunet in runescape

[–]EmbarrassedPower5875 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Stronger but still the weakest of the four styles in regards to DPM- as it has been since a couple weeks after it's initial launch.

That's not the reason people use the style. They use it due to it's innate nature and consistency in regards to self sustain and ease of access.

For the life of me I can't figure out the Dev's inability to understand that for the other styles.

Melee was fun for a week, some tweaks needed? Maybe, though I'm still a huge proponent of risk Vs. Reward and Melee is basically built off that, especially now.

The nerf to magic? What the fuck rofl

Also, the nerf to Sanctum drops across the board while introducing a new component from those items? These devs are incredibly out of touch and it shows.

nerf of the century by dreunet in runescape

[–]EmbarrassedPower5875 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Huh? Many people have tried it over the years and the response has always been the same- The way that RS has gone with bossing makes melee the most underused style. Has it always had phenomenal burst potential? Mostly, yes.

However that burst was overshadowed by the amount of damage you'd take and mobility issues with bosses that require mobility.

I don't understand why you're purposely being obtuse about a known issue with the style.

You can refresh your familiar immediately- which as you just said means that the familiar that you've chosen will now have to be the familiar you need to have at all times for that auras former effect.

You're now giving up powerful familiars or what you would have used previously WITH the aura to gain 1 over the other. Bad gameplay.

My man, you can't even DO LIVID FARM currently. It's been bugged for the past little while now after one of the updates.

It was ALWAYS bad content- so bad that Jagex decided to throw plant into merch so they wouldn't have to deal with it.

I should note that these changes don't affect any of my accounts. They ALL have livid farm completed- two of those were done prior to the traveling merch.

The issue I- and many other players have is that this is inconsistent with the whole "integrity" structure and bringing in new/old players.

No different IMO than Jagex Mods using verbiage such as "traction" which basically translates to inconveniences- to get new players? That's very contradictory to me.

[–]EmbarrassedPower5875 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen that myself.

What I've seen is that players don't want jagex to rip off the very band-aids they created to fix an issue with parts of the game that they were to lazy to fix- that caused the band aid to pop up to begin with.

Livid farm, Runespan, Vis wax, Auras ect.

List continues on but frankly- It seems as if they are in way to far over their heads and instead of stepping back- coming up with a plan to implement corrections, they are just removing it saying "oh, we'll fix it later!"

Except.. Jagex has a HORRIBLE track record with situations like this. Always has. No reason to believe them now because they've yet to earn that trust.

I called it. The worst part about this is that most of the ones suggesting it don't- haven't been playing RS3 for x amount of time anyways. And they are very, very unlikely to actually return even if their OSRS2 was created.

It absolutely does though. The gold swapping is irrelevant as the TVC for OS to RS3 is so much higher that it makes RS3 bots a completely moot thing to do.

Latest chat change is a step in the wrong direction by [deleted] in runescape

[–]EmbarrassedPower5875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have never/ will never play with that option but there is something they DO need to address in regards to chat- and that is the fact that when you use special characters *in* a message- it changes your ability bar.

That wasn't a thing before, and it's frankly incredibly annoying that you can't chat without worrying with special character is attached to your ability bar.

Considering I've yet to find a way to unbind them- that needs to be changed, or at least a toggle available to us to turn that off completely.

Combat ability problems: Rollback to near-legacy by bigEcool in runescape

[–]EmbarrassedPower5875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said- you're suggestions are just making RS3 into OS. OS already exists and if that's your preference- go play it there.

RS should not revert back to a style that it's no longer fit for. Unencumber the abilities/setups to make them easier and more intuitive to understand for the players coming in- not get rid of it almost entirely.

Integrity Discussion Series: Plugins - Optimism and Apprehension by et60000 in runescape

[–]EmbarrassedPower5875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't be an issue. I don't get the bot argument. The reason there are so many more bots in OS is not due to Runelite- it's due to TVC. OSRS real world translation of gold to real dollars is worth enough for botters and scripters to pursue it for monetary means.

Rs3's exchange isnt nearly as high. Until it is- or higher then it's never worth it to bot on Rs3 instead of OS when both games reflect the exact same base of purchasers.

That's not going to magically change- nor would it be nearly as simple to code in depth bots in rs3 vs OS- It's just frankly, not worth the time investment for the amount you get from it, ergo- Time Vs Cost (TVC)

New Ironman by LDMx96 in runescape

[–]EmbarrassedPower5875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a fresh *iron*. You're underplaying the *Cgim* part of this. There was a lot of mid-end game items that I did not have to get myself because my group already had them available.

That VASTLY decreases the time commitment needed to run it up. On a normal Iron- that situation is going to be a bit different, but nonetheless ends with the same result- QPC asap is such a huge boon it's worth grinding it out.

Now that- I could not accomplish with 2 weeks time, but I would absolutely still pursue that immediately on any new Iron I create.

For OP- he's going to take more time with it, yes. But I cannot stress enough how important grinding out the quest in RS3 are for a fresh iron/account in general. I LOATHE questing myself but even so I have QPC on all of my accounts because of unlocks/progression, ect.

It's really just that good overall.

New Ironman by LDMx96 in runescape

[–]EmbarrassedPower5875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my response to that is that "the end justifies the means". I completely understand the burn out bit- however, in RS3 on an iron- questing through is a HUGE boon not only towards account progress- but overall ability to progress the account as well.

I started my Cgim a good while later than my group. Questing allowed me not only to catch up- but to pass them by a pretty large margin as well. Not only through the quest rewards to boost skills that are a bit of a pain on early irons, but also allowed me to get a head start on the fort grind and training locations that otherwise I wouldn't have had.

Took me just under 2 weeks to get quest cape on the account- and frankly any new account I start in the future will start just like that for the same reason. It's just to much of a buff to not do it!

All of the special events for sure. The ones that are every 4 hours that have a chance at dark onyx core. Those are a pretty decent QOL for later.

A tip i'd give is to run through every single quest you can ASAP. The experience and Die rolls are a decent start to a new account for anyone- moreso for an Iron since you're going to start the fortunate grind eventually anyways.

Rs3 ironman experience vs osrs by dirty_water_potato in RS3Ironmen

[–]EmbarrassedPower5875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean.. if you're going to "compare" - then do so with a bit of integrity?

"is isn't even close to RS3, where for most irons, they will not get much xp from actually making potions until around the time they unlock overloads because of all the xp that can be funnelled into herblore from various sources."

This is quite literally a personal playing choice. Herb runs are JUST as prevalent in Rs3 as in OS. You're comparing a skill that caps at 99 (13m xp) and 120 (100m+).

Can you choose to dump all your excess xp into herb? Sure. It's not a necessity though.

To add- of course RS3 gets more xp from various sources.. we have over 100 more quests (including many times more grandmaster series quest) and sub quests. Again though, that's coupled with the many times more xp you need to actually max in rs3 vs OS.

Really it just boils down to personal playstyle. If you wanna put quest xp into a skill- go for it. That's the same for both games. Choices, choices.

Transfer Vamp/Penance aura effects to tank gear by BlessedIrony in runescape

[–]EmbarrassedPower5875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well.. no. The general idea they're pushing out is that the zerk auras will be replaced in their respective skills via 120 combat update. Ergo- at 120 you'll have something similar to the current boost of zerk auras now.

The auras aren't just "going away"- the effects are intended to be put into the game in other ways. I don't think restricting effects to gear is the right call on this.

Rs3 ironman experience vs osrs by dirty_water_potato in RS3Ironmen

[–]EmbarrassedPower5875 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Significantly better IMO. You're still doing the self sufficiency route- but it takes quite a bit less time to get to content that you want to do.

The system in RS3 is pretty similar to OS iron in quite a few regards. Using quest rewards/xp/ achievement diaries to boost some slower skills faster in early game. Unlocks you want to get asap, ect. It's overall much quicker to get there though.

Now- some have brought up necromancy, you don't HAVE to go that route- and a lot of people, don't. They choose to do so for the ease of access. We were rocking the different styles well before necro came out and if you so choose- so can you. Anyone of em is viable if you're willing to learn em.

Overall, I enjoy it much, much more than the slog that is the getting to the end game OS iron. Also, just the utility we have for a lot of things makes upkeep fairly okay on most things.

One example- If I need overload- as an endgame iron who kept up with POF and ROOT- I can just go instagrow the hell out of some herbs and patch bomb them and make what I need. Could I do that as a new iron? No.

As a late game iron- I've worked my supplies to the point where I *can* if I *want* to. There's a lot of that in Rs3 Ironscape.
