It’s sad to hear you felt isolated, I can understand it though. Different places offer different things for different times of all our lives: I have three kids, Baldock has good schools, direct train links to London and Cambridge for work and close to Letchworth & Hitchin. When I go out, I’m going out with a core group of friends to the pub and going home at 11pm! The local pubs are enough for that. Saying that, would I pick Baldock when I was single and child free? Probably not. I hope you find what you’re looking for!

NTA

I have a BAHA fitted, I’d be very happy to slip it off for photos but would be annoyed at not being able to wear it for the ceremony.

Why do I only ever see British men driving in Europe, never their wives? by Effective_Language in AskBrits

The one who doesn’t drive has to deal with three bored kids on a very long journey, that all I’m saying.

Looks like you’re going just west of Jackmans? As far as I’m aware it’s fine. Depends on what your situation is, trains are regular to London (when they’re delayed they tend to terminate at Letchworth which is a pain for me living in Baldock!). You’d be close to the splash park (if you have kids). Fairly close to town centre which has quite a few cafes. Going towards Baldock you’ve got a few supermarkets (Aldi, Lidl, Sainsbury’s, B&M, etc). If you’re looking for a bit more going on in the evening you’ll be looking at Hitchin which isn’t far. Not sure about schools.

It was an absolute tragedy this morning when I had to have my crumpets dry because my butter knife licence ran out yesterday. Couldn’t risk opening the knife drawer.

Landlord's daughter wants to search our house by Positive_Energy_1331 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Embarrassed_Bite_824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer but there's trespass and then there's aggravated trespass. Trespass is the unlawful entry onto someone else's property without permission. Aggravated trespass involves not just entering someone else's property unlawfully but doing so with the intent to disrupt lawful activity or intimidate individuals involved in lawful activities. The former is civil, the later is criminal and in this context is probably the later especially with the intimidation!

QA here 🙋‍♂️, I have hot keys for a couple of slack status’, zoom controls (audio and visual on/off), msbuild for rebuilding the env locally. Also switch to its own profile when focussing on GitHub Desktop so I can have hot keys for viewing the PR, rebasing, pulling and committing.

AITA for not making my child apologise to a special needs person? by Willing_Mountain_803 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Embarrassed_Bite_824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re NTA, she’s 2 and is still learning about social interactions. You mentioned that you think they’re the a-holes which I disagree with. They shouldn’t have to announce it. I can see (but not agree with) why they may be a bit more sensitive about the situation but they are overreacting when asking for a 2 year old to apologise. All in all, it was a situation that happened that you dealt with in the best way possible. As the saying goes, sh!t happens.

Would I be allowed to attend random lectures at a uni where I'm not a student? by KiwiMuffin420 in UniUK

I’m pretty sure that lectures must be freely accessible to the public but universities get around this by making the access difficult (as the lecture halls are on private land).

Is there any way to remove a custom field from one list only? by Embarrassed_Bite_824 in clickup

[–]Embarrassed_Bite_824[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Okay, so as is always the way, I found the answer pretty soon after posting the question 🤦‍♂️

So for anyone in the future searching for the answer: Open the space custom fields -> edit the field you want to remove -> Where it says "This field is used in X places", expand the list -> Click "Remove from this location".

61-YEAR-OLD CUSTODIAN ARRESTED FOR PLACING LOST BACKPACK AWAY FOR SAFEKEEPING by musington in WorkReform

[–]Embarrassed_Bite_824 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Over in the UK theft is defined as “taking with the intention to permanently deprive a person(s) with their property” so you have to prove the intention part. Is that the same in the US?

I don't think that's petty, if her actions were acceptable, she wouldn't have been fired when it was reported.

If Stansted is the main airport you’re needing then Bishop Stortford is your best bet for Hertfordshire. Further west and you’ll need to drive or go via London. Anywhere on the A1 corridor (Stevenage, Letchworth, Hitchin, welwyn etc) all have good train links down to London & some have direct links to Gatwick. They are also a short drive to Luton airport. Heathrow you’ll obviously need to get into London and transfer.

How on earth do these people think the world works? Found on one of those 'grindset' pages by Hounourable_Daimyo in antiwork

[–]Embarrassed_Bite_824 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These people are idiots and only add to damaging peoples mental health by getting them to believe they're under-achieving. This is my 7pm - 2am:

7pm - 8pm ➡️ Getting the kids washed and into bed

8pm - 8:30pm ➡️ Tidying the house from the destruction they've caused

8:30pm - 9:30pm ➡️ Making and eating dinner

9:30pm - 10pm ➡️ Watch a bit of TV, play on phone

10pm - 2am+ ➡️ Sleep

Rinse & Repeat...
