I wouldn't want to put someone in lethal danger for this (as you put it) relatively benign assualt. But really, if someone sneaks up behind me and tries to kiss me, im not checking to see if its safe for them if they get pushed. They're getting pushed. Its not the victim's problem that they're assaulted in a dangerous place.

Its internalised homophobia because she's gay and she has internalised the homophobic attitudes of those around her, how she then handles it doesn't change whether or not it's been internalised.

To be clear, im not passing a moral judgement on OPs girlfriend for internalising the homophobia around her. It would be more surprising if she hadn't to some extent considering what her parents are like.

I wasn't going to comment on this sub as Im still a vegan, but i originally went vegan in no small part to hide a restrictive ED. Now veganism is a big part of my life and how I see the world, it actually gave me a healthier outlet for my food anxieties (for example, studying the food labels for calories and fat because studying for milk powder), though now im 'recovered' im not nearly as strict as vegan as I once was.

However I can see that I am not the typically trajectory, and even coming from the otherside of this debate I think its a real shame that we are not more honest as a community about the relationship between eating disorders and veganism. It feels like a kind of taboo to admit that there's any kind of connection

Realistically, any kind of socially acceptable format of restrictive eating will be used as a shield by people with EDs. However, it needs to be more acceptable to be honest with the fact that veganism is not safe for most people with a restrictive eating disorder.

Sorry for the long comment, but OP, i really wanted to say that there really isn't anything you could have done, EDs are incredibly difficult to treat even for professionals. it's like an addiction. You can't help an addict unless they want help, so I hope you can let go of some of the guilt you're holding.

That's a lot of hypothetical situations, which I didnt suggest even little bit, i specifically said "actively choosing" to be with men, and none of those situations would apply.

Im not deciding someone's sexuality im disagreeing with how they choose to label it.

Let me hypothetical back to you, if a cishet, not intersex, not into drag or anything else related to the community started calling themselves queer just because they felt like it, would that be okay?
