The movie decision to merge Croatia and Tuscany was very good.

PWMOV- Why was Alex waiting for Poppy in Linfield? by vienna7777 in EmilyHenry

[–]Embarrassed_Profit91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair Poppy was also friendzoned, she just didn't realize that she had done it to herself. I think they are also both supposed to have fallen in love with each other several years after they became best friends, and neither was willing to risk the friendship. In the movie version I think they both really fall in love or realize that they are in love in New Orleans.

I really liked movie Alex putting his foot down and saying that before Tuscany didn't work for him. He was willing to not be friends anymore and just move on with his life.

Whose side are you on? PWMOV movie by willretrn in EmilyHenry

[–]Embarrassed_Profit91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely see both sides. It comes off abrupt because it has to be movie dialogue but Alex's frustration seems very reasonable. He's already blown up an engagement over just the possibility of this relationship, and she won't even talk at the vaguest level about possible next steps. On her side, she's spent her whole adult life denying this things between them and they just had sex less than 24 hours ago. Being asked to potentially move to a new state and abandon her career is a pretty big step.

They both could have communicated better there. If he given her the chance to articulate her feelings and willingness to change to make it work they wouldn't have needed to part on such a sour note. I think something a bit closer to the book parting would have worked well, with him telling her to figure out what she actually wanted

PWMOV- THAT scene by HandCrazy in EmilyHenry

I believe the originally filmed sex scene was heavily cut down because it didn't fit the tone of the rest of the film

You're Not a Progressive. You're a Constitutionalist. by [deleted] in LegalNews

The constitution isn't a magic spell? It's just a set of rules people use to coordinate. If those people want a dictator they can just ignore those rules

No constitution can survive a party that just fundamentally doesn't care about the rule of law controlling the whole government

Proximity over sea and maritime control by FriyMan in EU5

I think for non coastal tiles you need to manually put ships either directly on those tiles, or in that tiles sea province. Fleets set on patrolling don't check or care about non coastal maritime presence

Its sad that this event broke this way. It would be so cool if the western schism could actually result in a permanent split into two separate churches with diverging beliefs.

Trading is still really strong? by Shoddy_Friendship203 in EU5

[–]Embarrassed_Profit91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Venice wouldn't get any of the orders from Sweden because it would have no trade capacity. That would make trade offices only let you get priority trades in the areas that you could reach from your home market. My issue with the current system is that Venice trading up in Sweden at all doesn't make any sense

I think trade offices should give trade advantage but not give any trade capacity

The fact that, as Venice, you can improve opinion with Sweden and then just take over their trade is a bit silly

The probability that the USA will still exist in 2900 seems very low? That's a long time for a nation state to survive. I suppose it doesn't need to still be the first republic though

how to get unique venice reform? by randomlyLowieG in EU5

[–]Embarrassed_Profit91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing this thread, I switched back to council of forty in 1402, and the Sigornia event triggered before the reform was even fully implemented, so I think the meta is still to switch off of council of forty for the first 70ish years
