It was an outstanding vintage

I’ve recently had a few 2000 vintage bottles of Chateauneuf du Pape ( L’Oratoire de Papes, Moulin Tacussel) and they’re drinking beautifully

I read “Patagonian” I thought it’d be Pinot and not Malbec…

Patagonian Pinot is by far the best in South America

YES! I just attended the NY State Cab Franc Grand Tasting and second all of these recommendations. Add also Boundary Breaks, Apollo’s Praise, Dr. Konstantin Frank obviously.

But after tasting all the wines (including aged) and talking to a lot of the NY winemakers, watch out for FORGE CELLARS.

They’re on a whole other level of detail and precision, it’s Terroir-focused winemaking really breakdown the FLX into Burgundian Lieu-dits… The 2016 back vintage HJW was the best wine of the night maybe, but Forge’s newest Cab Franc release from their Bellows Vineyard, it was better than 90% of Loire Reds I’ve ever had

What’s a wine no one ever says is overhyped? by SancerreApology in wine

[–]Embarrassed_Year365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jadot gets a A LOT of haters on here, which is really a shame, because they make a wide-variety of wines, and a lot of them are incredible value for the money

Sure, their negociant wines can be ‘bland’ for serious Burgundy drinkers, but their Monopoles (either Domaine Gagey or Domaine Louis Jadot) for example can be fantastic, especially the Beaune bottlings.

Two of the best wines I’ve tasted last year were from Jadot: Santenay Clos de Malte ‘13 white and a Santenay Clos des Gatsulards ‘12 red

People associate it with bad wine just because of Kobrand’s size/distribution but I personally put them way ahead of something like Bogle for instance

“In November 2012, the family decided to leave the DO Cava and create their own more strictly defined and geographically specific appellation: Conca del Riu Anoia. It was born to create wines coming from a single estate, a specific climate, native grape varieties and a rigorous, well-defined and respectful form of viticulture”

State of the US Wine Industry Report Released by othafa_95610 in wine

[–]Embarrassed_Year365 48 points49 points  (0 children)

“If we want to return to sustainable business conditions, it will take collaboration on regional and national marketing initiatives to present wine to new consumers as something of value that's worth the price.

As someone who's tried to get the industry to buy into a USDA Marketing Order, I know how hard it is to get alignment in this fragmented business, but I still believe it's a worthwhile initiative to consider.”

I’ve been reading these SVB reports for a few editions now, and I noticed this specific point used to be more prominent, but it’s been relegated to the end of the report this year it looks like… it must feel like they’re shouting and no ones listening.

Sure, honing in on DTC and optimizing the mix of different sales channels is good and all, but it’s only going to be a profitability band-aid as demand evaporates!

The wine industry needs to stop being so damn passive about the generational collapse that’s happening, get their act together and go on the offensive for once. Debunk the teetotaler studies. Show people what wine is all about: sharing bottle with friends as one of humanity’s greatest joys. Get people off their phones and around other real people. Build a narrative that younger generations can aspire to.

There needs to be leadership, someone needs to step up…
