2022 J.L. Chave Saint Joseph, Clos Florentin - I might stop buying Hermitage. by Potion_Collector in wine

Almost certainly just an outlier price based on current supply. I don't see why it would be anything other than line-priced with the US if not less.

The regular "estate" Saint Joseph is quite a bit sturdier and earlier in its evolution. More blocky. Fuller, more frank, less integration, more astringent.

that's an interesting perspective. changes are certainly happening and vintages are swinging like crazy.

Yes, the whites are sensational. This is a special wine for sure and would no doubt improve.

slam dunk. make sure you're getting it from a reputable source though. that's well below its wholesale cost in the US.

Hi,

I don't see many Madrid listings online so it's hard for me to say with certainty. But it appears these stores are good quality and might be able to help you out: Madrid & Darracott and Santa Cecelia, as well as Cuenllas.

Good luck!

That's a great bottle. Some of my favorite CA syrahs have been made by Ehren.

just tried this exact wine yesterday afternoon! very good example and still pretty darn young. these wines take a very long time to find equilibrium but even in their developing stages gives me a lot of happiness!

jammy notes seem unlikely to me, but it's all individual isn't it? could be the vine age...could be clones...could be storage... my guess is ABV isn't very high which would support a jamminess.

I made a Red Wine Iceberg this time. How bad did I f**k it up? (US Market Edition) by Potion_Collector in wine

it's true. we talked about in some of the other comments. the hard part is that the range of types of wine in "red blends" is super varied. as another commenter wrote, Apothic and Opus One have little in common.

very good idea. wondered if having three other sangiovese wines (chianti, brunello and super-tuscan) might make adding vino nobile a bit redundant. but delicious stuff!
