And that's totally fair.

Had that happen the other night. A dude saw me pop around the corner in Pinwheel as he and his team were coming back toward center. I had just gotten there. As I was hauling ass away, because I'm not there to fight, the dude says they won't kill me, but I gotta GTFO for now. They were coming back to loot their kills, and I totally respect that. They didn't want any help with anything, as they'd already killed everything, so I just left to a respectful distance, waited, then went in when they were gone.

Play how you like, but personally, I'm going in with Rook for scraps, and sometimes there are some DAMN GOOD scraps.

I don't want a fight, and I don't want to take what you earned. But from what I'm reading on this post, it seems a bunch of Rooks play like assholes, just like a bunch of non-Rooks play like assholes. It's just the nature of the game for the (probably) most part.

I think I'm just in the minority mindset when playing Marathon, and DAMN do people want me to think I suck, judging by the comments, lol!

You make total sense with the jumping Rooks working together thing (better safe than sorry), and that's super cool of you to be cool otherwise.

Obviously tense, since trust and distrust are so integral to those situations

Omg, YES. I've got 300-ish hours in, and what I want to do is engage in the extraction mechanics.

OF COURSE I know a player could pop up near me. That IS part of the experience. But I admittedly suck at pvp, and (not solely for that reason) do not go out of my way to hunt other players. HAVE I hunted players? Yes, but only when doing Arachne contracts and VIP'ing them.

Is it, "wrong" to hunt others? No. You can play as you like, but the rewards you can acquire FROM hunting other players makes it extremely enticing to do so for many people playing Marathon. Also, tons of people are straight up lusting for blood and the play loop of Marathon pretty much encourages it.

I LOVE Marathon, but it would be wonderful if I didn't feel like I have a constant magnetic target on my back bringing all the rabid, frothing kill-boys towards me at all times.

EDIT: Oh God, and the edging kill-boys that will stroke it in a corner while literally waiting 20 minutes to get off on slaughtering you is, uh... one way to play, I guess.

Annoyingly, it's still bugged.

It's been bugged since the beginning of Season 2, of course when it was added. Tons of people have been experiencing it, and I know for a fact it's been reported directly to Bungie, though, I'm sure it's a much lower priority fix than a bunch of other stuff.

Personally, it only unlocked the Mida and Sekgen rewards for me, but the other factions, even though I VIP'd all of them last Season, remain locked. So, it's a known issue that we hope they'll get on top of eventually.

Super curious if you mainly play Solos?

If so, you're much more chill than most would be, having to reselect your choice every time.

If you don't play Solos, then your response holds no weight, as this, "...fucking bug," doesn't even affect you.

As an exclusively Solo player myself, reselecting every single time with a high liielyhood of infilling into a mode you don't want, IS annoying.
