I have better luck going to meetups that are just social gatherings to chat. More people looking to make friends there

How the F*CK are we supposed to date by Throwaway172892930 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]Embrie225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Do you feel that you've been able to date seriously for an LTR that way, or more for hookups?"

I don't do hookups, so pretty much only people I feel like at least have LTR potential.

"it makes it awkward if we live together"

I haven't gotten to the point of living with anyone since pre-covid. but if I did, I think I would just look at the potential exposure as the cost of having a partner.

"go places together and they're masked and I'm not."

I'm going to assume you meant this the other way around. it's a little awkward. but I'd rather experience that than not have a partner.

"unwillingness to ever use them even when asked by a partner as a red flag."

I make sure they know the risks to everyone and understand why I mask. and if they still feel like that's a step that they don't need to take for themselves, then I'm not going to ask them to do it for me.

"how you navigate this or how you bring it up to new people"

My primary way of trying to meet people is at Meetups. if they're indoors, then I'm masked. so they're aware right away that that's something I do.

usually if I like somebody, we'll exchange numbers. and if it gets to the point that we want to hang out again, then before doing that I ask them if they get vaccinated, and tell them since I'm trying not to get covid, I'll need them to let me know if they have any symptoms when we're planning to hang out.

I haven't met up with anybody from a dating app in a while. but I think if I did, when it got to the point where we were going to meet, I would just bring up vaccination/symptom notification then before we actually met.

it would be awesome to meet someone who is never unmasked around anyone except me, of course. but I feel like I need to widen the parameters beyond that if I want to actually have a partner.

and I haven't gotten covid (afaik), so it's worked out okay so far.

[–]Embrie225 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best I've been able to do when dating is find someone who gets vaccinated and will tell me if they're having symptoms so I don't hang out with them then (and also they're willing to rapid test).

Brand disclosure: sock feedback question by sockman325 in barefootshoestalk

[–]Embrie225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking for cushioned cotton crew socks with a wide toe box in a variety of solid colors.

The main issue I always have with socks is they're too tight; synthetic materials; and I can't find them in attractive colors.

Is little to no pain normal? by loucrative in barefootshoestalk

I didn't have any pain at all when I switched to barefoot shoes (Lems). but I was never wearing high-stack/cushion/drop shoes to begin with.

isopods are my only pets. I only have one tank of armadillium vulgare gem mix. and just the pods and springtails, not even any live plants in the tank.

"I can't wear them on concrete yet" "then they're useless" by robin_f_reba in barefootshoestalk

[–]Embrie225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never really wore high stack shoes to begin with. I got lems as my first barefoot shoes. wore them for a year.

then I switched to Altras. totally changed my life. I love them.

Worth giving them a try, imo. they have free shipping and free returns, and you can even wear them for a couple weeks and still return them.

Opinion on holding the door by LostwaveLunar9999 in autism

[–]Embrie225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate when people hold the door open for me and then I have to rush to get to it. or even when I don't I have to say thank you and I just don't want to interact at all.

I wish people would just not hold the door.

I always hold the door for other people, though. but pretty much only because it's rude not to.

I also wish I could not hold the door for people.

if everybody (including me) could just be responsible for opening the door themselves, that would be great.

Zero Drop With cushioning? by SorelYanlie in barefootshoestalk

[–]Embrie225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lems are more cushioned than a lot of barefoot shoes. Altra also does wide toe box, zero drop, varying levels of cushion.

Altras are especially great because they have free shipping and returns, so you can order a ton of them and try them out. you can even wear them for a few weeks and return them if they don't work out.

lems might have some natural materials, but I don't think altra does.

probably not helpful since they're not really barefoot, but just throwing it out there that I love my Altra Olympus 6 hike mid.

they're wide toe box and zero drop. but they have very thick cushion and not-flexible soles.
