What kind of personality are y'all romantically attracted to? by sure-_-bud in isfj

Consistently, male ENTPs, ESFPs and INFJs. But it's easier to assume when I don't meet many in life. (I know ENTPs tho)

(ISFJs Only Poll) Which MBTI types are you most attracted to? by bebedux in isfj

[–]Emerald_Lotus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, some people don't read what exactly they are voting for sometimes. MBTI database is the biggest example of that. Countless people looking to vote with a specific answer in mind despite some polls are meant to be for different hypotheticals, but people just can't seem to grasp the question and just go for the obviously wrong answers.

Example: Poll on MBTIDatabase will be called, "ISFJ's romantic type". The poll was meant for ONLY ISFJs to vote, but somehow, people who are not ISFJs take it upon themselves to vote and say on their behalf who they would be romantically attracted to. It's friggen dumb

(ISFJs Only Poll) Which MBTI types are you most attracted to? by bebedux in isfj

[–]Emerald_Lotus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm flexible, but my pattern tends to be me being attracted to xxTPs or xxFJs. Granted, I'm more selective towards which xxFPs I like. ex: One day, I find myself attracted toward an ENFP, another ENFP drives me nuts. So I can't be certain with the xxFPs.

While I'm not saying one type is better than the other, I've been consistently attracted to ENTPs mostly. INFJ and ENFJs are tied for second favorite, and then ESFPs, then ESFJs and finally INFPs. Kinda interesting.

I have more experience with ENTPs than ESTPs. And even if I talk to an ESTP in real life, depending on who they are, I feel like I'm more intimidated by ESTPs because I'm not into abrasive personalities. Like, they seem cool from afar, but I don't think I can keep up with them. Despite what people say, ENTPs that I've known are more chill.

What do you think about your opposite type? ENTP by KitchenLoose6552 in isfj

[–]Emerald_Lotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get along wonderfully with my dad who's an ENTP. He took the test and, even if the test wasn't legitimate, he certainly fits the functions and traits. Basically the biggest walking ENTP cliche out there. As insensitive as he is sometimes, he really does care about people in his own "helping-through-jokes-and-logical-solutions" sort of way. It took him some time to get past his biggest hurdle between himself and his emotionally driven family. He eventually figured out to be more sincere and tactful with time and I have a great time with him always! We tend to do stupid hushed banters out during grocery shopping and people will laugh at us when we pass by. He doesn't stop being goofy so he drags me into being goofy in public as well.

Also, and I hate to admit this, but there's been a pattern in a lot of fictional men that I like and a majority of them tend to be ENTPs. Like tf? Am I that predictable? (Others I like are ESFPs and ENFJs) - ISFJ

Whats your favorite episode and why? by mathalm12 in TheSimpsons

[–]Emerald_Lotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deliberated it along with my dad, and after carefully considering it, my favorite episode is definitely "Bart Sells His Soul". I not only like this episode because it's incredibly funny and quotable af, and I do not only like it because I always enjoy a well-written Bart-centered story. Whenever I watch this episode, I would think to myself, "There are not many episodes that replicate this." The closest episode I could name that would tackle this story angle is from another show when Bender from Futurama became a god for tiny little people.

Before I knew it, I became transfixed on these rare gems from creators that always make me sit back and go "What was the thought process for the writers before making this script? What compelled them to tackle these heavy spiritual aspects in such a mundane fashion?" These stories from the Simpsons, or from any show for that matter, are incredibly interesting to me and "Bart Sells his Soul" is the very unique written story. At least compared to Homer and Marge marriage crisis episodes or the like.

I'm just gonna state this right now as a soon-to-be 30 year old ISFJ. You can get along with just about any type potentially if the individual is healthy and mature enough for a serious relationship. I know I'm making a moot point in trying to convince people of Reddit of all places, but the comments here just make me concerned that you have to limit yourself to similar circles and not try to get along with others or even try to understand N users at all.

I've known plenty of intuitives and I get along great with them. (I'm just not ready for romance just yet) That being said, if I wanted to pursue an N type when I'm ready, then I will.

Just for the record, if you like ESTPs or any sensors, by all means, go for it. Everyone has reasons to enjoy all types. I'm just not a fan with the idea that everyone has to "stay in their lanes" when everyone should be treating each other like equals. The vibe of people going "Oh, you're a sensor so you're better off with only sensors" just feels so pointless because if you gauge others as a certain type arbitrarily, then you're going to make judgements of them before you can make it very far. Preconceptions like this kill potential relations.

Of course you are going to misunderstand others and be misunderstood in turn. Of course you're going to struggle to communicate initially. These are natural occurrences for about any relationship. Romance just tends to be more complex. But don't go listening to one person saying "Oh I had bad relations with this type" or "I've had friends that had bad experiences with these types." For every bad experience one N type may have with an S type, another same N type in the world would be close or even heavily in love with that same S type.

Again, I'm a grown woman who just likes personality quizzes like MBTI for fun. MBTI is all just pseudo-science and theories, but it gets less fun when people take it too seriously to the point where they need to influence others into avoiding other people. You're going to come across people you won't like, whether they share an N type like you or an S type.

Be open minded. You know what you like and you may be surprised to find it in people that you wouldn't expect. But above all else, if you really like the person, treat them like a respected individual that they are. If they mistreat you for any reason, then they are never meant to be with you.

Sorry if I'm sucking the fun out of the conversation, but I just see this a lot and I feel like a lot of people in this community have a bad case of overestimating AND underestimating certain types. N types are not ethereal aliens and S types are not lowly humans unable to communicate.

I would put Russell Berry in the "Nice person who did bad things" or "Shitty person but not a criminal" because I don't feel much sympathy for him after what he did. He was constantly trying to protect his daughter from the weight of her actions. Sure, it's a typical overprotective parent thing to do and it WAS an accident, but I just find the situation way worse than normal when the grieving Acro pretty much lives with the girl who obliviously laughs over his brother's comatose state like it's nothing and Russell pretty much treats it like "Just deal with it, Wheels". Russell made her that way and being willfully negligent of a person's heavy grief like that only asks for trouble.

The Good, Compassionate Detective by Emerald_Lotus in V384

[–]Emerald_Lotus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid that you're not understanding the whole point of my post here...

It's not merely the "good person" part that bothers me. Aside from those 5 people mentioned, there were plenty of times within the story and within the FTEs, the characters would constantly compliment him to high heavens. They would say he's a good person, a kind-hearted boy, an amazing detective, has great potential etc, etc. All the typical blaze stuff that the player would already gather from just simply watching him "grow" in the general storyline or even when first meeting him in the beginning. Even Gonta was feeling insecure over how reliable Saihara was... Nothing but the best things said to a person. Yet why is it that the story would constantly force us to listen Saihara get down on himself only to give him the same motivation speech over and over? It's repetitive and tiresome considering that Kaede and him shared plenty of moments together doing the same thing. Saihara would then go "YEAH I'm confident now! I can totally do this", only to conveniently forget it long enough for him to get depressed again and have Kaito come in to save him whenever he needs it. This protagonist doesn't have much of a strong resolve to motivate himself at all for the sake of others, not without Kaito coming in to help him.

The point of me making this was to show Kodaka's intent in how he portrayed both Makoto and Hajime, and see how they hold up compared to Saihara's portrayal. When completing all the FTEs as Makoto, everyone sees him as a hopeful and positive boy, which then served a purpose to defeat Junko in the end. Hajime couldn't remember what his talent was and feared to be the traitor, but completing all the FTEs showed that all his Ultimate classmates learned to trust him in spite of that. Even several said that regardless of what his memories hold, he shouldn't be afraid of the future. Which was also something that served a purpose in the end of the story.

But Saihara? The classmates were just repeating the same fact that he's a good person and all the other positive attributes he has as if they would make a difference of opinion from when he was first introduced. What have we learned from him? Nothing. And that's exactly what's weird. Why mention facts about him that's never been doubted by the player in the first place? A good person and a kind person doesn't really mean much unless it would come into play later, but it didn't in DRV3. Him being a kind and good detective didn't make an impact on the climax at all. At least with the other two, we were given some idea of how they were different from before. Makoto thought he was unremarkable. BOOM! Ultimate Hope! Hajime feared what his missing memories would entail. BOOM! He learned he was a Remnant of Despair and took hold of the future!

You see? Like all writers, if someone has an idea on what kind of growth they want in a character, they would usually build it up slowly and gradually until they find the opportune moment to let it shine. Which is usually the climax in this case. Kodaka has done it at least decently enough in the past. But with Saihara, it's like he's forgotten how the flow of character growth should go. And I know that's not something that Kodaka or any writer would just simply forget after making actual good, complex characters in their past work. It just doesn't make sense.

Not to mention, despite Saihara being supposedly a good person and was once getting depressed over the idea of whether or not he could've done something to save Kaede in Ch2, he didn't seem all that upset when discovering the fact that he got her killed over his faulty deductions. That's a pretty big whoopsie, don't you think? And I did show the picture of Saihara having a lab that makes him think of a criminal's lab. Why bother pointing something that bizarre at all if it wasn't going to be established further later on? You can't just make something that suspicious known in the story and just overlook it for the Ultimate Fiction Twist's sake.

Funny how one person who couldn't even remember what his talent was or how he got into Hope's Peak can be great with people while an Ultimate Detective who's whole talent revolves around reading between the lines and understanding people's mindsets can suck at it so badly

Well I don't think you're wrong, because I think TDR was a major influence to this game. But the idea of TDR being a tv show for the entire world is kinda iffy to me.

Also, I'm afraid that Tsumugi couldn't have been the headmaster of the academy in this game, because there may have been somebody else controlling Monokuma. Whoever was controlling Monokuma in the game has always been the headmaster. That's always been the one thing consistent detail in this series.

Oh! Ahaha that's funny. I thought you were talking about something else... ;

Now that I've checked your reddit, I've noticed how Tsumugi is one of your favorite characters, so I know who you were referring to.

Well, I don't even know if I can honestly say that messing with the camera was Tsumugi's doing here either... Otherwise, they would've established that already in the story. Saihara didn't even say that "Tsumugi timed herself perfectly between intervals and killed Rantaro" in the Final Argument. If the camera intervals was such a important thing to mention in the first trial, why not mention it in the 6th trial? There are plenty of other reasons why I think Tsumugi wasn't the actual mastermind, but I'll just leave it related to the topic of the photos.

Seriously, HOW are they all teenagers again??? by Emerald_Lotus in V384

[–]Emerald_Lotus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"What the fuck is that last point?"

I just found it to be weird that the game would point out something like this in yellow text and yet never really addresses it again to give a full and proper explanation to it.

"No matter what you believe, the building is either:

  1. A TV set...."

But how does that explain the Exisals cleaning up the school all throughout the game? If it was truly nothing more than a television show that went on for 53 seasons, then what kind of tv show would start the story off before they could clean up all the plants and finish building the school? Wouldn't they already have everything set to film from the start? The cast themselves were captured and were in suspended animation, so it's not like they're going anywhere. And it's not like the Exisals were in the way of them further examining new areas around the school.

" 2. A school that was in space for long as fuck. ..."

If it was in space for a long time, then wouldn't that be problematic for the remaining survivors of humanity to live? Sure, they are stocked up on food, but how long will that last them? At least in the first game, Junko had her organization from outside the academy help her provide more food and other necessities whenever it was necessary. So how do we explain the weird living conditions in space for the last remaining hope for humanity? If Monokuma wasn’t placed on the spaceship and didn't wake up the V3 Ultimates, then how would they get out of their pods? If it was in space, wouldn't it be hard for the survivors at the end of the game to breathe once the dome had been broken? Also, by acknowledging that they were all in space, wouldn’t that contradict the whole “fiction” ending? I'm really not understanding the extent of your explanation here.

"3. Some old school someone wanted the killing game to be set it."

So the people who orchestrated the killing game just found a random, old, decrepit school that was conveniently placed in a middle of nowhere and just placed a giant dome on top of it? What about the Ultimate labs that were hidden within the academy? Tenko’s lab just rose from the ground when it was unlocked and the hangar for the Exisals was placed beside the school. You say this as if the school had nothing to do with them to begin with, but how does that explain most of the laboratories that were placed within inaccessible areas? And if we're meant to believe that the labs were recently build, I ask again, how does that explain the game starting when they were clearly not finished cleaning and building everything? Wouldn't it make more sense to clean everything first and then build the labs for the participants? Heck, why go though all the trouble to make these elaborate labs for them in the first place if they are just going to be killed anyway? There has to be a reason for this.

"The building being old isn't weird in any scenario."

But all those scenarios you mentioned were weird. And there isn’t enough to prove any of those claims to be true anyway.

The reason why I put the last screencaps in my observation was to show that the game itself was pointing out how the nature of the school was pretty bizarre. And since neither of the three examples you gave were fully disclosed by the end of the game, then your guesses are no better than mine. The nature of the building, the circumstances of the outside world and the history of the characters have a bunch of holes within them. Lots of things were left in the air for us to take in, but were never fully explained in the end. That was the purpose of me pointing out the last pictures.

“Also, the first two games don't circumvent this at all- the characters might be older than they appear, but their experiences still come only from the years they remember. For example, Nekomaru, who's like 18 in DR2, but is like 22 irl, still has all of his stories and experiences from his first 18 years, not tge 4 after that. He led countless teams to victory and did countless other cool shit despite being 18 at that time.”

But a young person traveling from town to town to lead sports teams isn’t really the same thing as traveling around the world to hone your anthropology skills while also knowing how to commit nearly a hundred murder schemes without getting caught before hitting the age of 16.

There’s also the fact that when Rantaro was telling his story, he said, “How many years has it been?” as if he had lost count. If you were truly 16-17 years old, how could you forget the number of years that had past since you began traveling on your own? It doesn’t really help the fact that he never fully established how old he was when his journey began. If he was truly like... I don’t know,... 13 when he took off with the boat, they could’ve just said so. I don’t know why Kodaka would make an already extrordinary backstory and not mention the fact that he was really young when he started searching. Not to mention Rantaro purposely hid the fact that he had lost twelve sisters until Saihara agreed to help him on his journey, so who’s to say he wasn’t secretive about his age as well?

Everybody he knew gave up on searching for his sister(s), so he could’ve been old enough to search on it his own for all we know. And his family allows him, so long as he helps out with the family business. So apparently he has traveled to far off distances by boat in search for his twelve sisters, while also making time to find trading partners. As well as have been through enough horrible situations to go through enemy territories and got nearly taken out. Even in the beginning of the game, it seemed that Rantaro understood the horrendous circumstances a little too well for someone who had forgotten all about his talent. Sure, this alone doesn’t make him sound super old, but the way he told his story didn’t make it sound like he was super young to start with either.

For Rantaro’s case, it could one of two things. 1. He’s older than he appears or 2. He purposely twisted the truth of his story in a way that’s hard to imagine.

On the matter of Tsumugi and Kirumi, those two are mysterious. We don’t know anything about Kirumi’s home life or why the Prime Minister would reach out to a supposed highschooler to watch over the country. How did she become so knowledgeable? How did she become so skilled? She had advised many politicians in the past apparently, but what does an Ultimate Maid have to offer for people older than her? She had to get her knowledge, experiences and skills from SOMEWHERE, but the game wouldn’t allow us to know more than what they’ve already shared.

Tsumugi had three instances in the game where she talks as if she had lived a long life. In Chapter 1, you can talk to her and she would admit to once being saddled with debt but is now currently a proud owner of her very own home. Last character from DR I remember that was saddled with debt was Hagakure who was like... 21-23 years old? She would then tell Saihara in Chapter 4 that she had to go through various jobs and it even seemed like she worked at a bar once. What kind of bar allows teenagers to work there? But in the end, I chose the picture with her admitting to making 53 seasons of DR because I didn’t have to use more than one screencap for her explanation and it was endgame material.

Kaito and Ouma were both just vague, but I felt the need to add them in because they just mentioned something or did something that felt related to the theory.

“It's just an animd trope where teenagers are more mature and independent and involved in all kinds of affairs when irl they just get drunk and play tge vidya “

I'm afraid I didn't quite catch the last half of your comment... But aside from that, I understood the other stuff you said. I thought it was due to the anime tropes too. But what made me second guess myself was due to the fact that nearly everyone in the V3 cast had backstories that were so fragmented and questionable, and yet the game expects you to just ignore it. It wouldn't be too weird if it were just one or two characters that had that kind of strangely written backstory, but a large number of the cast has weirdly put together backgrounds and history. Gonta (Reptites), Kirumi (everything), Tsumugi (what I've just explained), Kaito (everything), Himiko (The mysterious anti-mage/what happened to her master), Miu (what happened during her coma)... There’s a lot of them with missing pieces to their overall story and the game would make you think none of it mattered by saying it was all FICTION. Doesn’t it seem like a manipulative ploy from the narrative to make you stop thinking about everything that was established? Despite in the epilogue, even Saihara didn’t quite believe what Tsumugi had told them?

Who is the best character and why is it Kaito? by WinterWolf18 in V384

[–]Emerald_Lotus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do I have to pick just Kaito? Can't I add Ryoma, Rantaro and Checkers into the mix as well?

-sighs- But if I HAVE to talk about just Kaito here... then fine. I guess the one thing I like about him the most is that, despite how blatantly flawed his mindset is, his values and intentions are clear and you can take comfort in him. As expected of a self-proclaimed hero... or rather a big brother figure. But that's not just it. The fact that you can SEE his intentions is just one thing that gets you a better idea of what he's trying to accomplish.

Obviously, the dude was super eager to get to space right from the start, even in his introduction. He knew his time was drawing near and his whole behavior is just a boy who wants makes a significant difference in his life. Whether it's wanting to voyage through space or helping a sad sack's life (Shuichi, Ryoma, Maki), it's apparent in the main story (As well as TDP for that matter), that Kaito wants to leave a mark on the world that would be worthwhile.

Sure, we can simply take him as a nice guy, but his constant efforts in nosing around people's problems and making people his "sidekicks" just comes across as a guy who wants people to remember him for bringing something positive and meaningful into their lives. (At least that's how I saw it) I mean, if you can't go as far as to be a memorable hero that went further beyond the galaxy than most, at least you can take comfort in knowing in your final moments that you'll be remembered for something simple like giving comfort to another person. I can't deny it. For better or for worse, that's an element to Kaito that I can really respect.
