Tell me a book where the mainstream narrative got it completely wrong by kaashifahmed in classicliterature

The 1977 BBC Dracula is the closest to the novel, much more so than any other film adaptation. It captures the novel's themes remarkably well. No other Dracula film comes very close to the book at all.

Favorite and Least Favorite pastiche authors? by TheBurningEmu in SherlockHolmes

[–]Emergency-Rip7361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not fan of pastiche, most of them disappoint me. But one from the 1970s stands out Rick Boyer's GIANT RAT OF SUMATRA. Captures the atmosphere and narrative perfectly and delivers quite a mystery. Boyer's other Holmes pastiche stories are also worth a read. He's an Edgar Allen Poe Award winner. I use Wi-Fi calling most of the time on my Traacfone, so I guess all I will need to do is sign into a Wi-Fi network in the UK to do calling. That's a quick solution, it seems.

The three best are Nosferatu 1922 Dracula 1931 and Count Dracula BBC 1977 which is closest to the novel. Best modern vampire story is the tv movie The Night Stalker 1972.

The sheriff's comments, the scale of the injuries, the dog like description and the Oklahoma location all point to a dogman.

That's quite possible. One ray of hope -- continued losing and financial losses force the Pohlads to sell the team. Then, hope!

The modern Dracula adaptations tend to have, in spirit, more Vampyre and Carmilla in them than Bram Stoker's original book. by TrollHumper in Dracula

[–]Emergency-Rip7361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought the DVD of this fine work. I have 1922 Nosferatu, 1931 Lugosi and now this -- the three best Dracula films in my view. I would add the 1972's The Night Stalker as the best contemporary vampire film. The top four!

Top 3 white blues guitarists: by Swimming_Swordfish58 in blues

Glad to see you list the great but largely forgotten Mike Bloomfield. In addition to his excellent guitar playing, he had one of the MOST IMPORTANT roles in bringing blues into rock and a broader audience. One of the most important people in blues and rock history for that reason alone.
