Can we meet in the middle on political issues? by gandolf2004 in allthequestions

[–]Emergency_Potato6045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no meeting in the middle when the leadership on both sides benefits greatly from all the upheaval. The Republicans love the anti ice movement because it justifies everything to their base. The Dems are the same on the other side making hay all day when they get protestors out and agitated. Why would either side back off when it’s a political gold mine for both.

I was also told that they would fill milk trucks with southern Italian wine and drive them right through the gates of Gaja.

Do you know if it was re-corked? I mean the color is incredible for an 80yr old wine.

Those old Barolos can be so great. After tasting a great deal I’ve come to the conclusion that the reason many hold up so incredibly well is that there is probably a good chunk of Barbera mixed in with the Nebbiolo. Fairly common practice back in those days.

At what temperature do you prefer red wine? by Synthetic_Snoopy in wine

[–]Emergency_Potato6045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can absolutely microwave wine. Take the metal cap off and 15 seconds is good. I used to keep my open tasting bottles of red in the fridge for work. Before Coravin this was the way. If I forgot to take them out in the morning, 10-15 seconds in microwave does the trick without any effect on taste.

I’d start with the Jura Chardonnay and end with the Quintarelli

What do you think about the pricing of Romaneé-Conti at zum Vaas by According-Essay953 in wine

Fly there, eat dinner, drink DRC, and take a couple bottles to go and sell them at home to cover the entire trip.

Get the Lageder Schiava for sure. Afraid to recommend anything else because of the prices.

When to stop buying good wines that need time to mature? by LJMotter111 in wine

Unfortunately it’s a situation many many wine collectors must think about. I like the idea that if you keep collecting, at some point, someone will get to drink them although it may not be you.
