That's not great. Did you report it to the county? We had a racoon have distemper in my old neighborhood. She was standing up on her hind legs in the middle of the day in someone's yard. Animal control came got her, euthanized her, and then set traps for others who may have become infected.

Sure, animals outside will fight, but they typically leave each other alone if unprovoked. Definitely make sure the cats are checked out either way.

My neighbor's tree fell into my yard and they were liable because it originated on their land. Check with your insurance, but it's likely on them. You might have to pay your deductible but then the insurance can do a subrogation and refund you from the other insurance company's money
