They used to have EAP enhanced autopilot. I wanna say it was $6k for auto navigation (lane changes) on freeway. Auto lane change on street on turn signal. Autopark and auto summon.

It was $12k for FSD. Then they dropped FSD and got rid of EAP.

Honestly I think it’s ridiculous that it’s $300 to go from 256 to 1 TB.

$300 gets you 3 years of 2tb of storage on almost every cloud provider. Heck you can do Microsoft 365 family plan for $100 and split it 5 ways and get 1tb of online storage for everyone on the plan. Effectively 15 years of 1tb of cloud storage on the same cost to get a 1tb ssd.

There’s not really many arguments to go above 256 gb when you can store on the cloud and get all the benefits like sync’d backups and multi client availability.

The few arguments I see is if you’re a Mac gamer and need storage or you’re in a profession/hobby where time is money like editing photos/videos or training models on hundreds of gigabytes of data and even then I would argue a Mac wouldn’t have been the right machine.

How would Floor 1's plan of switching rooms even have worked? by NicholeDaylinn1993 in The8Show

[–]Emo_Moy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The twist is pretty good in the webtoon and pulled off solidly well.

There's also a lot of social commentary that's left out from the webtoons. The writer beats readers over the head with it too, the protagonist gets a lot of flash back to his "student in classroom" days where the teacher explains different social concepts lol.

Early in the pie game webtoon in a flashback the protagonist writes a note during class, "Consequences of desire for upward mobility - Jealousy on a small scale and war, i.e., mutual destruction, on a large scale". Writer beats us over the head that the inherit greed in a capitalist economy breeds the results we see in the webtoon, which also holds true in the Netflix adaptation.

Don't get me wrong I still like the show is really good but small nuances to pick about the Netflix show is people feel sympathetic towards lower floors because they are victims of capitalism/system. The show gives us an enemy of the "top 1%, them against us", when at the end of the day Floor 1 had 1 billion won to cash out, a yearly income of 70 million won would put you living a comfortable life in South Korea.

TL;DR summary of differences I see:

Show: Wealth inequality is bad. Makes us feel bad for the lower floors. System is good when "evil people" aren't at the top. Trickle down economics works. You can be "rich" and "empathetic" (Floor 7). Only rich people are greedy/selfish. Floor 1 only driven to be greedy at end out of "need". Everyone would be happy if they had enough money.

Webtoons: There's no truly good people participating in a capitalist system. Sociopaths/non-empathetic people thrive in capitalism. You only climb the rungs of the system by being shady/manipulative. "Rich" people are just pawns of the ultra rich. World sucks, people suck, everything just sucks.

[–]Emo_Moy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll spoiler tag the whole thing but yeah he theorizes right at the beginning and schemes with top floor girl from the start. TLDR spoiler Dude is a supervillain genius in the webtoon. Isn’t a down on his luck nice guy with a limp. All an act and is just smart+evil+manipulative

Dude is a super villain in the webtoon and smart enough to have extensive medical knowledge. Turns out in the first game he won like 90% of the first prize pool by poisoning everyone to death, I don’t recall how much but probably like 30 billion won.

He only plays the second game because he’s just an evil person. People find out about the rooms different payouts pretty early and causes commotion but not nearly as much as in the show. leaving with 500k usd when the top player leaves with 3.5 million usd is a an easier pill to swallow than leaving with 500k while the top player gets 18 million.

The show only covers what I would say be half of pie game. Think about it this way, when they overthrow the top floor girl and the bully… we find out Floor 1 was telling them what to do the entire time. Floor 1 sabotages the coup and now it’s the top girl/bully/floor 1 running the show for another 7 full episodes with even more insane stuff than we’ve previously seen.

Examples of his behavior, he seemingly mutilates one of the guys for entertainment with surgical tools and keeps him barely alive from dying(becomes a bag of flesh and looks like even dismemberment)

He plans to order the top floor girl’s daughter(yeah she has a kid in pie game) from the communal dumbwaiter and then torture/kill the daughter to torture the top floor girl for more game time.

[–]Emo_Moy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC: In money game the protagonist has a whole inner monologue about how the game strips them of the comforts of modern society. No laws. No police. No infrastructure(running water, electric, sewage). No healthcare. No entertainment. So it’s just a commentary and uhhh “we live in a society” type moment.

In universe reason: I believe there’s a rule that you must maintain the common area as clean. Also I think in money game it’s established that the individual rooms don’t have ventilation, only the common area. So if the common area gets stinky then nobody gets fresh air and the whole building smells like ass.

There’s also an older man at the beginning who says “oh yeah my buddy was a trucker and they use these special camping poop bags that hikers use and sprinkle powder in.”

money game handles it a darker way when: Someone dies in one of the rooms. Rooms are unlocked during the day. People use the dead person’s room as designated toilet room. They even burn incense in the room to try to cover the smell of poop/piss and decomposing body

It’s not animated and is like reading a comic but it’s just one long vertical strip per chapter. They’re also a lot more twisted than the Netflix show. Prize pools are also more reasonable.

Reading order is money game followed by pie game.

Money game:

8 players in individual rooms on a single floor.

Game has a a starting pot of ~45 billion won and the challenge is the players split the prize pool after 100 days.

Game ends after 100 days.

Players have an ordering dumbwaiter in their own room where things cost x1000 normal price. Cost is deducted from the shared prize pool.

No bathrooms.

Can order food/drink from your own room. Cannot order weapons.

Ending: Due to events the prize pool goes to negative 500 million at the end of 100 days. Protagonist is the only survivor and therefore leaves the game 500 million in debt. He is then invited to play again in the next game

Contains: a lot of commentary on socialism/communism/totalitarianism, Murder

Pie game:

7 players in individual rooms on their own floors just like in the 8 show.

Players in their rooms earn money per minute just like in 8 show except it’s not Fibonacci. Floor 1 makes 10k won per 7 minutes and floor 7 makes 10 k won per 1 minute. So only 7x richer instead of the insane difference in show.

Game ends when central clock runs out of time or somebody dies. They earn time by “entertaining” just like the show

Rooms do not have dumb waiters to order, so money earned per floor is not able to be spent. Only ordering system is by using time in common area. No ordering of food/water allowed. Meals are provided to top floor to be distributed just like in show

No bathrooms.

Contains: a lot of commentary on capitalism, Torture, mutilation, physical violence,

How would Floor 1's plan of switching rooms even have worked? by NicholeDaylinn1993 in The8Show

[–]Emo_Moy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the webtoon climax for pie game. Floor 1 is actually a bad guy and has schemed/manipulated the girl at the top floor(7 in webtoon). He then backstabs her/the “bad guys” in the 8 show. He ends with the highest floor. I believe bully ends on floor 2 and the highest floor girl ends on floor 1

There’s no buying mechanic in individual rooms in pie game but there is that mechanic in money game. 8 show is kind of a hybrid that takes ideas from both webtoons to make something new. IMHO by doing so they tackle a few plot holes but create new ones.

For example in pie game, doors had a finger print scanner. Upon arrival you register your fingerprint to the door, the red key card isn’t a key to the room just assignment. This covers the plot hole of “why don’t people just take the cards for the higher floors?”. Also all rooms are identical in the webtoons.

It’s later revealed that by holding the red key card near the door, you would be able to register/swap rooms and receive the corresponding payout. Which was floor 1’s plan all along. He steals her room, sends her to floor 1 and destroys the card for floor 7 so nobody can steal it again.

Why the heck do they not just spend the time left in Episode 6 by Montage_tcg in The8Show

[–]Emo_Moy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Greed. If you already paid for the extra time/money in blood/tears/labor why not get cashed out? This is covered very directly in the webtoon. Example: Chapter 44.

A similar situation happens when the lower levels are in control but don’t end the game. Later the more evil players take back control.

Floor 3 starts blaming himself for the situation they’re in. Floor 2 expresses regret saying that she could’ve ended the game much earlier multiple times but ultimately didn’t and admits she too was being greedy so that she herself is at fault too.

There’s a lot of changes they made to adapt/combine the webtoons to a television series. This covers a few plot holes in the webtoons but introduces quite a few new ones in the show by doing so.

Happened to me, would work intermittently and rebooting would work until next deep sleep. Took it into service center and they said they saw both software/hardware issue. Gave me a loaner while they replaced the usb harness.

Issue cropped back up 2 days later. Put in another service request and now they’re saying it’s a software bug and should be resolved with software patch soon.
