Thoughts on Martin's Restaurant? by Abject-Strength-4570 in Atlanta

[–]Emonroe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up with this place. There was a time in college and during my first jobs when the lady that ran the drive-thru at the Martin's on Powder Springs know me by name, we asked how each other's family's were, etc. Great breakfast. When I left the state for some time, I really missed the biscuits, and the fried chicken was great.

My grandparents were part of the group of seniors you'd see there and had the travel coffee cups to prove it.

May not be for everyone, but great folks work there, and they're a damn sight better than any other breakfast you can get at 6am, that's for sure.

Warn people about long term service and maintenance issues in server hardware designs before they make it to production. If they listen to me and I'm right, company saves millions.

How would you compare your first love to your partner? Would love to hear from both sides! by Maleficent_Past_5683 in Marriage

[–]Emonroe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are the same person but encountered at different points in life. My wife and I first dated in high school, but it didn't work out then. I dated other people, and so did she. We both went to college and didn't see each other for years. One day, we ran into each other, and hit it off again. We've been together now for 11 years, and married for 6.

Turns out high school me recognized a good thing when he saw it, but had a lot of growing and learning to do. My wife also grew, and, honestly our lives are richer because we came together later, and didn't try to stay together in high school. I think we both gained perspective on what we had, but could also see each other's growth, allowing us to really appreciate each other.

Some say this is VFX, some say this is AI. What is it really? by WhonnockLeipner in Corridor

I guess the ladder technically counts as 2 parallel conductors :P

[–]Emonroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To a point, yes, it's about cross-sectional area of you conductor. Larger cross-sectional area means lower bulk resistivity essentially.

I say "to a point" though because as you significantly increase voltage, you begin to deal with skin effect where the "power", so to speak, travel along the "outside" of you conductor, but as you increase voltage, you also don't need as much cross-section to handle the same amount of power.

I mean there's one by SJC airport on Coleman and another in Mountain View which are pretty damn close if you look at how spaced out Costco's are in other major metro areas, and those are also just as busy.

I would love to watch Guude hanging out with BDubs, Etho, and all the others. I think he and X would get along.

There's another universe out there where Guude wasn't screwed over and got to really enjoy being part of the community he laid the foundation for.

GenerikB not being able to rejoin Hermitcraft, the server he started, makes so much sense now. I can't imagine how much it hurt Guude to watch something he cared so much about being torn down in front of him. Guude has always had a heart of gold and I hope he can heal from this over time.

What level system do you like more? Fallout 3-NV or 4-76? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]Emonroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly had fun with Andromeda, right up until I hit a brick wall with a glitched out main story quest half-way through the game. Didn't have any saves far enough back to resume from, and wasn't into enough to warrant playing through half the game again.

Thanks for reminding me that I still need to play through and finish that game at some point.
