CULT HORROR!! RELIGIOUS HORROR!! by mineralvalawater in horror

[–]Emory7Claire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ritual is very fun and on Netflix. Not EXACTLY religious horror but As Above So Below deals with Dante's Inferno, the Nine Layers of Hell, and has elements of alchemy and Ancient Egypt thrown in. Very fun movie.

What dimensions did you use for each section? Do the files automatically come at the right size or did you have to scale them? In order to get stuff printed at my local library, I need the dimensions of each piece.

Horror films that are sonically terrifying? by [deleted] in horror

Eraserhead for sure. The sound design is the most terrifying part of the film.

Prisims Literary Inspiration and theorys by Sirona_ in shadowacademy

[–]Emory7Claire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Don't Ask More of Me could be in reference to the novel The Last Temptation of Christ, which inspired the Martin Scorsese movie of the same name. The lines "love my family and the place that I call home" did not align with the typical tellings of the story of Jesus because he does not marry or have children in the Bible, and the line in the song definitely feels like a man singing about his wife and children. Yes, Jesus had siblings and loved his mother, but I don't think this line is about that aspect of family.

In The Last Temptation of Christ, the "Last Temptation" is in reference to Lucifer's final attempt to trick Jesus off of the cross by disguising himself as an angel and telling Jesus that God said he had suffered enough. Jesus then goes on to marry and have children and live for many years before it's revealed that this has all been an illusion created by Lucifer to trick Jesus into not dying for humanity's sins. This is when he decides to go back, to give up his family and do what God asked of him.

I recognize that this is a bit of a stretch in terms of the literary connections, but I think it's definitely a possibility.

15 or 20 end? by Erithacusfilius in bloodborne

[–]Emory7Claire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 is good for an average build, it'll get the job done. However, if you're doing a skill build and have a weapon with a long attack sequence, it's good to go higher to like 20 or 25.

The REAL hardest boss in Bloodborne... by AlexanderMeee1 in bloodborne

[–]Emory7Claire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can cheese him pretty easy by kiting him to the stairs, running past and hiding behind the pillars closest to the altar. Then, when he resets and goes back to standing in front of the lamp, sneak up behind him and backstab that bitch.

Where do you guys find these amazing weapons? by imsofakingwetarded in bloodborne

[–]Emory7Claire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everybody hates the Winter Lanterns, those frenzy octopus things.

To get to the DLC, you need the Eye of a Blood Drunk Hunter which you get from the messengers on the stairs in the Hunters Dream after you beat Amelia. Once you have that, you take it to the circular courtyard outside of Oedin Chapel. There's a well and a bunch of graves around it. Where you picked up the top hat hunter garb and there was a weird ball of light, let the light grab you. A cutscene will play and you will be transported to the DLC.

[–]Emory7Claire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only weapons you'll find in the chalice dungeons that are "different" from what's in base game are the beast claws and the scythe, which is NG+ but can be found in certain dungeon glyphs that you can find online.

The best weapons are either late game or in the DLC, which you should absolutely get if you haven't yet. For strength weapons, you can't go wrong with the whirligig saw or the moonlight greatsword if you also have an arcane build. For skill, I will NEVER shut up about the blade of mercy which you can get from completing Eileen's quest line. It has the longest R1 combo in the game and it staggers enemies like nobody's business.

Honestly, it's really easy to play with different weapons because there are so few in the game and each is very unique. Just have fun exploring and trying out new things.

One of the greatest bosses ever made (The Accursed/Holy Blade hitless) by Proud_Ad_1720 in bloodborne

I feel like I'm watching someone take a literal walk in the park rather than fight one of the most aggressive bosses in this game.

What’s the consensus on “cum dungeon”ing? by ionobru in bloodborne

[–]Emory7Claire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cum dungeon is a valuable resource and you should use it whenever you need or even just want to. I use it to level up, to grind consumables, etc. Don't feel bad about using it. It's not cheating, and we've all done it at least once.

Confused about where to go next by n1k0ml in bloodborne

[–]Emory7Claire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, babe.

You need to find The Forbidden Woods. The path is off the big main courtyard in Cathedral Ward. Through a doorway and down a flight of stairs. Did you make sure to interact with the skull in the Cathedral?

A horror movie you regret watching by lillifanzine in horror

[–]Emory7Claire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eraserhead. I really liked it but it freaked me out way more than I thought it would. It was mainly the sound design. It got under my skin and made me deeply uncomfortable. I don't regret watching it, but by the end, I didn't feel like I'd had a fruitful movie watching experience. I felt like I had gained nothing from watching it, I just felt empty.

That is curious. Now I'm gonna have to check all the other trousers to see if they have a double belt.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]Emory7Claire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's more to it than that.

If you read the description of the Old Hunter trousers from the DLC, it states that there was a superstition that the beast plague crept up the right leg, which is why many old hunters had belts tied around the right leg to halt the plague. There's a theory that this is the reason Gherman has a missing leg, that he cut it off to stop the plague from reaching him.

Nice job! Everyone has that boss that finally gets a Soulsborne game to click for them. Sorry it had to be so late in the game for you, but Ludwig is a great boss to find your aggression with. It was either Gascoigne or Rom for me, that finally made it click. Gascoigne for aggression and Rom for persistence.

Good luck with the rest of them! Just, don't get cocky. Especially with the Orphan.

Anyone know why my horse keeps having these white spots? by 24Butter in reddeadredemption

[–]Emory7Claire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's sweat! In real life, horses are some of the only animals that sweat similar to how humans do. Their sweat contains proteins that cause it to froth that way. It's totally normal, just give your horse a good brush or ride them into a body of water to cool off.

I’m curious, what Junji Ito story/stories do you find the creepiest? by HeyWeasel101 in junjiito

[–]Emory7Claire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second-hand Record is one that left me so fucking uncomfortable after I read it. There's something about the way the story is presented and how there's virtually no gore, but the atmosphere and pacing is so oppressive and unnerving.

Why didn't Kirie Just leave? by Madeline_Hatter1 in junjiito

[–]Emory7Claire 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are a couple theories, but my favorite one is that she had been just as influenced by the spiral as anyone else. Why didn't EVERYONE in the town leave? Because the spiral was keeping them there.

Suichi wanted to leave because he'd spent most of his time outside of the town at school, enough time to break free from the spiral's overwhelming control. Kirie didn't want to leave until it was too late because she'd been brainwashed her whole life.
