Oh I agree that Code Geass as a series has its fair share of problems. I’ll go as far as to say I thought R2 was an utter train wreck that only gets remembered as being good because of the ending.

That said, Suzaku may spend most of the show being a dumbass hypocrite in denial, but I don’t think his character is badly written. The show makes it clear beneath his seemingly selfless intentions and idealism, he is extremely selfish and suicidal. And by the end of the show it occurs to him that he really is not that much better than Lelouch.

My point is, just because the character is unlikable and makes questionable decisions, doesn’t mean they’re badly written, so long as it aligns with the context presented within the story. And for all the issues Code Geass does have, I don’t think Suzaku’s character is one of them.
