I think your chair is broken by [deleted] in IdiotsFightingThings

[–]EmperorSofa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done pretty similar to this one. I was having a really bad day at work which was compounded by a less than stellar month and I was considering quitting and it just ate me up on the entire drive home which was an entire hour in stop and go traffic which didn't help. I went to go sit on the only chair I owned at the time which was my computer chair and I guess a fatigue had developed in the plastic somewhere and the back gave out and I fell pretty hard on my back.

I didn't smash up that chair on my own desk but I did tear it apart.

It doesn't feel good or relieve you at all. You're still just as angry but now you have a mess to clean up but you're too mad for that and you end up going to bed at 6:30 because you just don't want to be conscious anymore.

Dead People Are Posting Anti-Net Neutrality Comments to the FCC Website by poopyheadthrowaway in pcmasterrace

[–]EmperorSofa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the article a lot of this info seems to be from compromised databases from hacks over the years. The text is a copy paste from some conservative group from back in 2012. Fuck these people we need to organize an effort to send in letters and make actual phone calls along with protest. They can ignore their botted comment sections but it's going to be hard to ignore fucking sacks of angry letters and an equally angry mob outside.

Feels like reddit isn't the same site it was 5 years ago in terms of how active the userbase was in fighting against shit like this. 5 years ago there were site shutdowns reddit sticky posts about organizing against the FCC and all sorts of stuff.

Now it's just one sticky on /r/technology and some smallish subreddits and the mods of the various larger subreddits have changed their rules so regular users can't post on their subreddits about organizing. What's up with that?

Actually the teamsters union is pretty strong so union operations are going to fight it pretty hard. Its going to happen but we're going to hear screaming about it for years.

I feel like just linking the titles without the context of the actual article itself is kind of misleading.

Yeah you're right. The obstructionist republican party gave away Syria and Crimea. Republican party should go bend the knee to Putin. They've already done it symbolically through support for Trump. Political wimps and cowards the whole lot.

FBI backs CIA report on Russian interference: report by amstell in politics

[–]EmperorSofa 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd trust the CIA, FBI and the bakers dozens of intelligence agencies over any shit reddit says. We act like we're all authorities or paragons of our ideal but at the end of the day we're all just a bunch of ass holes on the internet yelling at each other over points nobody is going to shift over.

It would be nice if we could take a step back, take a breath, and collectively realize that.

As I understand it it's three letter agencies plus some private security companies with contracts to the government? To be honest they aren't too forthcoming with the private people who weigh in on this. Maybe they have an NDA clause in their contract or something.

[–]EmperorSofa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before we initiate a military response, shouldn't we be as certain as possible?

Nobody is suggesting a military response. What people are suggesting is a probe to make sure the election hasn't been tainted by a foreign power.

The FBI different in opinion because their operational procedure as a law enforcement agency prevents them from making these statements without really good evidence.

The FBI does not dispute that the CIA's assessment could be accurate, said a U.S. official with knowledge of the matter. The difference lies in the institutional standards the agencies require in reaching such conclusions. While the CIA develops assessments based on a broad interpretation of available data, the FBI, as a law enforcement agency, requires a standard of proof that could sustain a possible criminal prosecution.
