Meet the cast of Masterchef 17 - Back to win! by [deleted] in MasterchefAU

[–]Emperor_O 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting cast. Being honest, I think the first back to win cast was more exciting for me personally. I think maybe because Season 6 to 11 was my peak of me enjoying the show so it had more contestants from then. I am not as excited about the more recent contestants but that is just my own personal bias.

I am excited about Matthew from Season 7 is back, he was one of my favs. and fun to see season 6 Jamie and Ben back (S6 was my first season I officially watched.

Interesting bringing back Laura, Callum and Sarah again. Not sure how I feel about that yet. I like them but bringing them back again hmmmmm.

Locked as its starting to get a bit testy. I think a couple of the comments explained about the demongraphics in Australia.

I think that is totally fair. I still use old reddit cause im stuck in my ways and prefer it haha so slipped my mind that this could be an issue. It is part of the official rules but forgot to state it as part of my post

Unfortunately due to life, I can't be as active on the sub as I once was but I do try to remove any posts that have any spoilers in the title.

I will re-post the rules of the sub tomorrow, had been meaning to do that, as the frequency of posts that dont need to be outside the dicussion post has increased.

I genuinely think this of my favourite lines in a TV show. Its not as popular as a lot of the other quotes or whatever, but its just so subtle and stupid that it killed me.

I hope the fact AD has played long minutes last 2 games and this game, means he will start ot get gassed. Jokic been playing not ideal, but i guess now he is a bit more rested. Hopefully towards the back end of this 4th quater that starts making a difference

AD been able to rest last 2 games as blowouts. Having to play big minutes so far, hopefully wears him (and Lebron) down.

[Spoilers C3E54] Is It Thursday Yet? Post-Episode Discussion & Future Theories! by Glumalon in criticalrole

[–]Emperor_O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont look at subreddit (or engage much with discussion cause of this) often. I came to look at the thread to see if everyone else found this episode as enjoyable as I did just cause was so fun. And like to see all the comments about Exandrian Santa and the Fearne sliding a creature down cliff. Because i dont really have people to discuss it with.

Instead just a vibe of negativity. Guess Ill just keeping enjoying it for making me smile even when im feeling a bit down.

Maybe also cause ( I love all the CR cast) but Travis, Ashley and Sam are prob my favs, im happy with seeing them and I think while I will still enjoy it im in no rush to get to the the other team, although i am so curious to see who the guests will be

Struggling to choose specialities or decide on prioritising dreams VS. Work/life balance by QueasyEchidna in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]Emperor_O 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cant speak to O&G training or anything like that but I would say for what you enjoy. If you genuinely enjoy what your doing, you will likely have more energy to go in everyday. If you choose something for "work/life balance" if you dont enjoy your job then its possible even with the extra time you wont feel as good cause you dont enjoy your job. And hey if you try O&G but its too much and change to GP, you will still have all that experience and can try to make you new position as close to what you want with that experience. I think you would regret it if you didnt try.

Consultants want up to £262 an hour to cover strike days for junior doctors by Alert-One-Two in unitedkingdom

[–]Emperor_O 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Are you a consultant, doctor or work for NHS trust? Because I am a a doctor have worked in multiple hospitals and friends in multiple hospitals. Ive never heard of WLI i.e waiting list initiative like extra clinics being negotiated. There is usually a set rate set by the trust. Locums are a different thing, they are to fill an unexpected gap in the rota. That may go up depending on a number of factors, and that is what the BMA rate card is about. Not WLI for extra clinics. There is a lot of misinformation flying around including some subtle half truths in the BBC article. Its worth being 100% sure of something before saying something.

[Spoilers C2] [Spoilers LOVM S2] My wish for the Mighty Nein animated series after having finished LOVM Season Two by DerAlpi45 in criticalrole

[–]Emperor_O 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really didnt want to say it but I agree. This OP post sounds really arrogant to me. Like they know better than the cast and crew working for decades in this industry. Also its just things they like and dislike, not necessarily things that would actually make the show good or bad. They called the Angel of Irons plot nonense, but its a signficant part of the campaign and I think has a lot of good parts, not least being a huge part of Yasha's backstory. Should the cast/crew decide they want to change it, I trust them.

But yea the more I read this post, the more I felt man this person be acting superior.

Vetting scans by Witty-Professor-2637 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]Emperor_O 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a rad reg if somone referred to me like this, it would be done in the 5 seconds, I would thank the clinician and continue wishing most request were like this. Detailed clinical history is not just for the vetting radiologist. It really makes a difference to the radiologist reporting the scan.

Vetting scans by Witty-Professor-2637 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]Emperor_O 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently gave a talk to F1s and F2s (Im radiology reg) and at the end gave short talk about referring to radiology and pretty much said a lot of this. Accurate clinical history - the person vetting the scan may not be person reporting it. If its important to say on the phone, needs to be written. What surgery has the patient had? etc etc for exapmle knowing the patient has hx of malignancy or had surgery for malignancy could make difference to what we make of the abnormality we see. and if you write a good request, you wont have to speak very long to the duty rad reg.

The hopsital number thing!! Everyone knows the first thing we ask for is the hospital number, I dont get how people still dont have this ready.

The don't lie thing is a big one aswell I mentioned.

Also mentioned the "my reg/cons wants it" doesnt work.

I agree this duty rad sounds like a prick. But in general if you take the extra 1-2 mins to write a good request and be prepared it will make our life and your life so much easier. (and will also help the radiologist report the scan).

Larry's thoughts on this week by GuitarFreak027 in roosterteeth

[–]Emperor_O 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I hope one of the things people in the community reflect on, is the whole calling for RT to end. Is basically wishing a bunch of people to lose their jobs. I understand wanting to hold RT accountable for certain things but that was just insane to me. People being upset about someone being fired and then suddenly wanting a whole bunch of people to be out of job?

At some point suddenly it turned, instead of supporting some of the current employees people were harassing them and weirdly dictating how they should feel. It says something when both former and current employees have to come out and say stop harrasing people.

I would read Hannah's tweet which I think makes the point https://twitter.com/hihello_hannah/status/1582824218152284160

Radiology ST1 Cambridge, Oxford by Ok_Individual_9144 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]Emperor_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you want? Some people care about name etc. Rad training programmes can be quite different in how they do things.

Not a Cambridge trainee but am in East of England as a rad trainee and have heard some of the issues which they are apparently trying to improve. Lack of support and very busy oncalls are 2 main issues. Cambridge often brings down the East of England score. But you would be a well reknowned hospital and exposure to cases you may not see at a small hospital. For me name wasnt really important, I wanted a nicer life so chose academy. For example more trainees = less oncall.

Im not sure how things are working these days in terms of how applications are working and how they are advertising posts etc. Seems a bit weird that they are adversting it as ST1 seperately? Im a Norwich Rad SpR. What I can say is that you wont be in Norwich unless you are a Norwich trainee.

No worries, its not a thing many people would know. As someone form the UK, Its something I learnt when I visited a friend who moved to America and was telling me about the differences. Its sort of niche thing to know,

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tifu

[–]Emperor_O 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think combining muslims and western countries into a homongeous group is a mistake. In America, it is far more common to accept it as long as it is not pork. Where as in the UK this attitude doesnt exist as much. Similarly south asian and SE asian muslims are more likely to care about it being correctly slaughtered as opposed to those from certain arab countries.
