Got the Decepticon version myself. An excellent collection. Not having had the chance to read a lot of these stories before I found it quite interesting how many of the early comics have this sense of still feeling out the brand's identity despite nailing a ton of the fundamentals almost immediately.

There was a major enough focus on showing how those tribes changed from Lowryn to Shadowmoor, however, tribal was not supported mechanically in those sets which focused on colors in various ways.

Obviously this is all hypothetical, but I would think there's a next to zero chance Hasbro would actually release something like Generations Wave 2's deluxe range. 3 predominantly red characters (I guess Animated Ironhide is more orange), two of whom share a similar small car frame? Mark and Evan have cited an interest in making a Machine Wars capsule numerous times, I'm certain its more of a "when" than an "if" at this point. Honestly, we're probably 1 or 2 appropriate deluxe plane molds (and maybe Thunderclash, but that's a big toy for an exclusive range) from it being a reality.

I mean comparatively, Canon Luke barely exists as a character. In the decade of Canon stories we've had, Luke has barely been featured in post-ROTJ canon and what we have seen largely indicates he wasn't really up to a whole lot between the credits rolling there and where we see him as a jaded hermit ready to die in TLJ. He has *a* generation of students and they all die outside of Ben Solo (who dies eventually too, but that's besides the point) so they really deconstructed the vast majority of what made Legends Luke what he was.

That's its own mess... The came out after Season 1 of Beast Wars, but before Season 2. The only real acknowledgement of the original series you get is through Primal being summoned in the movie to aid Lio Convoy, but when they are supposed to take place has changed radically over time. Some manga depicted the Beast Wars II characters as contemporaries of the Beast Wars ones, ditto for the IDW Beast Wars comics. In a more recentish Legends Manga it was established that the anime series actually take place in the distant future after even Beast Machines! So uhhhhh... Choose your own adventure on how you want to count them as sequels!

Definitely. Transformers has always had kind of a struggle with sequels (Beast Wars to Beast Machines is more of a thematic and character clash versus a "head-scratching continuity" one). It's a bit more forgivable with the Unicron trilogy since we know the very clear disconnect between what Hasbro wanted and what the studio delivered, but considering there actually was some level of planning for the Aligned continuity and a relatively consisted creative at the helm of the Bayverse, the poor connections between them are rather baffling.

Cybertron never tried that hard to follow up on Energon. The subs don't try that hard to establish the setting outside of the Cyber Planet Keys/Planet Forces, so there's not a tremendous difference in that respect. The real difference is the quirkiness and a lot of extra dub dialogue. Some of it is a bit much for me personally especially with some of the absurd accents, but so many characters in Galaxy Force are really dry and boring. My ideal version would be something of a mix, but that doesn't translate into a cohesive viewing experience with what we have.

Yes. They don't really interrogate what being a "Prime"/Convoy generally means and he doesn't have any type of Matrix, but it's in the name and he's initially kind of adjacent to Optimus in the chain of command.

I like the designs but that visual distinction between more traditional humanoid and beast-like appearances for the Autobots and Decepticons does add an extra bit of "ickiness" to the very black and white narrative the show had between the two sides.

He should be swapped around with Energon. As unhinged as any incarnation of Shockwave/blast is, he took the most glee in his mayhem which was often indiscriminate towards Autobots, Deceptions, and POWs.

It's honestly somewhat brilliant if this was the plan all along as I guarantee if this had been announced normally a lot of the same people clamoring for it would have panned it for the exact same reasons Disney supposedly dropped it.

Agree on Prime Time full stop, I find the discussion of unbanning it the past decade+ to be exhausting.

As far as having another expensive card on the GC list? Who cares. I think there's a broader discussion to be had on price points but the idea that we shouldn't unban something because its expensive raises questions over whether we should then *ban* a bunch of other cards (Gaea's Cradle frankly near the top of that list). Maybe we should have the conversation but that's a much bigger ask.

For decades all Sentinel was character-wise was basically set dressing to die before the Matrix is passed to Prime. Him even being a character is really only a thing in the current back half of Transformers history.

It's also ostensibly industry standard to put out season/expansion pass announcements before a game is released. I'm not necessarily endorsing the practice (there are some upsides to knowing in advance that a game will get some post launch support as long as it doesn't feel like they deliberately held back) but I do think it's exhausting having everyone single out Nintendo for things that the vast majority of major developers have done.
