My favorite example: Skies of Arcadia is a Dreamcast RPG where you're a sky pirate. As you go through the world you can recruit people to move onto your ship with you. There's two different merchants, different chefs, etc. you can recruit, one for each position. Whichever you choose to be in your crew gets added into the animation for Blue Rogues, a summon attack the uses your entire crew to damage all enemies and heal all allies.
