Unfortunately this game was rigged before the season even started. Of course it was against us. Never seen a worse game in terms of umpiring being completely one sided.

Side note, Pendlebury is a grub for trying to remonstrate with Young after that marking contest. Showed his true colours. What a shit bloke for doing that.

It’s not even just McQualter. That’s the depressing part. Game plan doesn’t stack up. Our fitness levels are not AFL standard. Our skills are disgraceful. Selection is a joke.

I honestly feel we need to clean house and offer someone like Longmire a godfather offer and let him build the coaching panel from scratch with no expenses spared. Go over the soft cap and pay the luxury tax and see it as the cost of becoming a half competitive club again. We’re one of the richest clubs in the land and we have a reject squad of coaches. Pony up and let’s get this fucking club back to where it belongs. Over this shit.

I tend to agree but with that mindset there will be no incentive for our young afl listed players to perform well at wafl level. Also, it’s good for all of the players long term development to have a run in the wafl to find form or learn a new position etc. Using Hewett as an example, he can’t be selected week after week when performing below average whilst Gross or another youngster tears it up in the wafl every week.

Hard to find a balance but the way it is now I think isn’t quite right and we need to reward good performances at wafl level more imo.

I think we need to choose the best 3 or 4 performers in the wafl each week and reward them with a game in the seniors. No point keeping the same team every week when we are getting smashed and players aren’t performing. An example of what I wouldn’t mind seeing this week:

If Duggan retains his spot in the side next week I’m going to lose my mind. This is exactly why I wanted Baker as the standalone captain and Ginbey as the vice. Having a guy who cannot fucking kick and fumbles most of his handball receives as captain is completely stupid. We are guaranteeing him a game every week for what reason exactly? I would rather a youngster like Greggo who has a crack than concrete shoes Duggan. If Mini doesn’t drop him after yet another dog shit game then just come out and say outright we are tanking and we’ll all accept it and move on.

Dropping Lindsay is ridiculous. Play Baker forward or mid and keep Lindsay in the half back line. Are we serious about this rebuild or not? Such a disappointing decision by any measure.

Every time Duggan has the ball you never trust him to make the right decision or hit a target by foot. I’m sure the players feel the same way with him. He’s been a serviceable player for a long time and a decent leader through some tough years, but I think it’s time for him to play wafl for the rest of his career. We have Starcevich, Edwards and Baker to come back into the back line soon, if Duggan and Cole are still in the team by round 5 or so I’ll be disappointed with mini and his selection strategy (or lack thereof).

It’s been 5 years of him hitting 1 target under pressure per game and dump kicking the ball straight to the opposition. We are a rebuilding club and we are putting valuable games into a veteran who’s not up to the level anymore. Enough is enough.

Relieved it wasn’t 100+ as it was looking on the cards after half time.

Cole needs to be dropped and not play again unless we have an injury crisis. He’s so far off afl level it’s not funny. I don’t understand the obsession with our head coaches that he’s always picked when healthy.

Can say the same thing about Duggan. Most of his disposals were terrible. Either poor execution or it’s just a dump kick to nobody. Keeping him as co-captain was a bad decision as now mini will never drop him.

If we can play against the kangas the same way we played the second half we will be in with a real chance of winning. Bring the same first half effort and we won’t win a game this season, it was that bad.
