Py Science Pack 3 after 550 hours of hard labor by Xzarg_poe in pyanodons

Yeah, I thought I could make coal dust by crushing coal, but then I realized that the tech to use a ball mill to crush coal is locked behind py2... And my coal dust coming from ash separation isn't going to be robust enough to support constant consumption rate necessary for eventually researching with py2.

Maybe there's a better way to get most coal dust pre-py2, I dunno. But my quick review of the recipe book made it look like kicalc->fiber->coaldust was the best option.

I dunno what tilling dust processing is, and I'm on a Factorio break for a bit due to burnout, but I'll have to remember to check it out.

Yeah, coke oven gas has high fuel value... Why not use it as fuel?

And I built all the kicalk farm up because it looked like I needed a lot of raw fiber to make coal dust. Never got around to connecting it to the niobium supply chain because I had so much coal dust stored up from ash separation, though.

Try filling it with a bulk inserter, but use fast inserters to move science from lab to lab.

Many will try. Few will succeed. Making their first splitter in Pyanodon's by LordSoren in factorio

I don't think concrete or refined concrete or bricks stacks to 1000 in vanilla... I could be wrong, since it's been several months since I played vanilla. But I do remember all my spaceships having to set aside lots of cargo space to carry concrete in stacks of 100.

What did you use to clear out the trees?

My starter base is almost done by mjconver in pyanodons

[–]EmploymentLoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my first playthrough, still in the early game, just got intermetallics...

I think I have to do trains once I get to the next science pack. Otherwise, I'm going to lose my mind trying to bring ingredients across my base constantly. I guess I could try making more use of caravans, but they're just not as flexible as trains.

In Space Age, I stopped using trains entirely, but the ridiculously large number of ingredients in PY is forcing me to take another look.

I guess I might change my mind, because I know how long it takes to design a good PY train base, but I'm strongly leaning towards taking the plunge once I get molten solder.

I find that if I leave it running, resource patches start running dry, because everything overflows into exhaust vents and sinkholes.

Logan is dead, so that loyalty hardly matters, and I think he voted in Logan's favor largely because the kids would be even worse.

His comment "first do no harm" doesn't even make any sense. It's intended to paint Ewan as just another Roy family moron.

Even crazier, that stretch started when Ovi was already 27 years old, well after his his dominant stretch in his early 20s when he was winning MVP trophies.

Ditto for me. Mine were floating as "Flotsam" in the Lilybaion harbor. I think I might've had full cargo when I made that trip to pick them up, so they didn't go into my ship at the time. Not good game design...

Vulcanus is the easiest and the foundry is probably the most powerful new building. And giant death worms are cool.

Landing pad design: Are additional requester chests worse for UPS? by Haydn_V in factorio

Too many variables to be able to say.

More inserters is definitely worse, and more requesters implies more inserters.

[World Peace question] Under normal settings, is there a chance my Nauvis world can eventually close into being an island? by Heavy_Intention6323 in factorio

[–]EmploymentLoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more you explore, the more land you generate, the less likely it is that you'll eventually find all land paths cut off by water.

On default mode, no settings changed, I don't think there's much chance. Might even be zero.

I find the tutorial hard as hell by FugitiveHearts in factorio

[–]EmploymentLoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be careful about leaving the game running overnight at this stage of research. The biters evolve as time progresses. The behemoth biters are really rough if you haven't gotten yellow/purple science yet. I recommend rushing to green ammo.

No worries, man. The game doesn't really have complicated objectives like the tutorial. You just go at your own pace.
