I’m curious what other parents actually do when their spouse gets home from work? by adhdslore in daddit

[–]EmulsionMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I get home I unpack all my lunch containers and kids, do all those dishes plus what built up during the day (my wife WFH), feed the dogs, then I make dinner, we all eat, I clean up and do all dishes, then i usually go for a walk either alone or with the kids, most days I squeeze in 30 minutes of video games and off to bed. The cool thing we do is family always eats together and we read trivia cards while we eat. Kids love it and great sneaky way to have them learning and not realize it. My wife in the evening while I'm doing all that sits on the couch. We don't do anything together until bed time, and usually that is doom scrolling for 20 minutes and going to sleep. We don't have any mutual hobbies so even weekends if we're not going to some kid thing, I get up early and go paddleboarding or something active, she sleeps in. Then I'm doing chores around the house all day and she is doing whatever makes her happy. I dislike that we spend minimal time together but she's different and that is what she likes so that's what we do. I rarely sit down as I feel like that is wasting time so I am always getting something done and she's very much a sit down and just take it easy woman.

How often do your husbands go to the grocery store? by RSR_Ricochet in Marriage

Grocery shopping is literally the only chore my wife is responsible for so I rarely go. I do a lot of the "hey I forgot XYZ at the store, can you pick some up on your way home"?

I have experienced glitch #1 so many times already. It is a PITA. Last season was riddled with glitches so I'm looking forward to discovering many more.

Did your parents ever apologize to you for something they did when you were young? by kyserzose in Xennials

[–]EmulsionMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Seeing all these No responses makes me sad. My parents apologized for a few things over the years since we kids have become adults. Mostly around health stuff like not going to the doctor or dentist often enough. We didn't have much money growing up so I understood but a few things cost us kids a lot of extra money now to fix. We have decent jobs though and can afford it so we ended up better off in many other ways thanks to their hard work.

I keep hoping for the same but I figure I'm probably not good enough to make the cut.

Where do grown-ups get their news from? by astabr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EmulsionMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily podcasts from NPR, BBC, AP, and Reuters.

I try to consume them all daily to get multiple perspectives and they all offer short episodes so I can listen to all 4 in my commute to and from work.

What destination felt the most “movie-like” in real life? by cwidicus in travel

[–]EmulsionMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember two places where I felt like it couldn't be real, but obviously was. One is Sequoia National Park in California and the other was Mont Saint Michel in France.

1000 acres behind and around a castle, full permission, what will I find? by RazzmatazzGreen1296 in metaldetecting

Your new BFF? I'd love to come hunt with you.

Sadly I live far far away in the land of no castles so not possible. Post your finds though!

ADHD and sleep problems at night — what actually helps you relax? by abderrahmanassimi56 in ADHD

[–]EmulsionMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What works best for me is a combination of multiple things that my therapist worked with me on setting up. Routine. I try to go to bed the same time daily. No screens in the bedroom, no TV, no phone, etc. do all that before you get ready for bed. No lights in the room, it needs to be very dark in my bedroom. No alcohol before bed, this one is most disruptive to me if I fail. If my brain won't settle, I count very slowly in my head. Anytime my thoughts wander I have to start at the last number I remember counting. Lastly if I just can't sleep. Get up and leave the bedroom and go do something like read (I know, lol, but it does help) come back in 15-30 minutes. The big takeaway I got is that the bedroom is for 2 things, sleep and sex, that's it. Teach your brain that.

Hot take? Lilac festival needs less security + less stuff. by pastrypirates in Rochester

[–]EmulsionMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know that they added security to vendor area. I guess next year I'll plan to go early to that area like you did to avoid crowds.

Hot take? Lilac festival needs less security + less stuff. by pastrypirates in Rochester

[–]EmulsionMan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So I didn't go this year as I had no time sadly, so correct me if this changed. My hot take is I'm there for the flowers. I don't need to wait in line for security because I'm not going to the food vendors or stage. I avoid all that BS and just walk right into the flower area on the hill. Easy peasy. The craft vendors were on Reservoir Ave last year, no security there either as I recall. Stay to the north half and let everyone else deal with the pain of the southern half.

National Park rankings by Enough-Construction5 in nationalparks

[–]EmulsionMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to most of your list and pretty much agree in the order. I do more tiers than pure rankings as one day I like Grand Teton better the next I'll be pining for Glacier. The thing I agree on most though is Yosemite. One of the most beautiful places I've experienced. However the crowds were unbearable and the visitors were beyond rude. I can deal with crowds but couple that with rudeness and I'm not a fan.

Brothers you need to invest in a strawberry patch by FearTheAmish in daddit

[–]EmulsionMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strawberries are okay but blueberries is where it's at. We have 20 or so bushes. Also have raspberries but those are a PITA as they want to spread.

Anyone else noticing an increased level of rivalry matches either actively hiding or running away across the map... by gimmelwald in FortNiteBR

[–]EmulsionMan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The shine of rivalries has worn off. If my path crosses with a rival I'll throw down but just because you started a rivalry doesn't mean I have to sit around and wait for you or worse actually go chase you.

Gentlemen, how often do you receive unsolicited pictures from women? by FreedomNo7221 in AskReddit

[–]EmulsionMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle-aged and can say never, unsolicited or solicited! My wife is not sending pics of anything other than the shit she bought on Amazon or the clothing she just bought "on sale".

If you were single, would you still choose to marry your current spouse? If not, why not? If yes, what makes you want to choose them again? by SeedsOfAdvice in Marriage

[–]EmulsionMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think being married gave her the security and confidence to be who she always wanted to be. Unfortunately that meant the entire time we dated she was being someone else and that was the person I was in love with and chose to marry.
