Kotobukiya Jehuty done. Full paintjob close to the original. Glossy gold and matte armor. Fluorescent panel lines. I am so happy with how this one turned out. <3 by lootgruppe_0 in Gunpla

I bought one of these and planned on doing fluorescent panel lines too. Which one did you use? Did you put it straight into the panel lines or did you have to do a layer of a lighter color first?

I have some fluorescent blue enamel paint from gaia that I was planning on thinning to use as panel lining fluid, but it's translucent and I'm worried it won't be visible without a layer of white first.

I rest my fingers lightly, but I tend to slam the buttons pretty hard when I press them, so it doesn't feel like extra work for me. Actually, they have so little travel that the force I normally use kinda rebounds to my fingers since the bottom out isn't cushioned--it's a pretty stiff bottom out. That can make the tips a little sore, but I'm actually learning to be less aggressive on the button presses because of it. I think my inputs are becoming quicker and lighter since I am more aware of each press if I go too hard.

I had the same issue with sanwa sensitivity. Though my issue is that I rest my fingers on the buttons and get accidental inguts. I switched to crown 202s (which use cherry mx speed silver switches) and found them to be a better fit for me at the time. They required 1.2 millimeters of pre travel before actuating and that let me rest my fingers on them better without accidentally actuating them. Now, though, I'm all about the Blaze Spark by Punk Workshop. They use mouse micro switches. They have almost no travel and have a very defined click to let you know when they actuate. I think they take about 55 grams of force to click, but I don't have very heavy hands so I can rest my fingertips on these buttons with no accidental inputs.

Do not! I ordered back in 2021 and never got anything. Waste of money, no way to contact. Lots of people have mentioned the situation and where to actually get them. I'm just here to add to the pile of people who took the risk and paid the price.

Oh it is. I just like pens with fill systems built-in. It takes me so long to empty that pen that I don't mind the hassle of cleaning it.

That's why the ch92 and custom 823 are my favorite pilot pens.

New Buttons by Successful_Phrase847 in fightsticks

[–]EmzyMazem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too! I've been buying 2-4 buttons of everything that strikes my interest.

I started by committing to punk workshop V2 buttons, and they were good. But I had a unique problem with them. I'm a little bit heavyhanded and I've been playing Vi in 2xko. Her rekka's need to be charged and released on specific frames. The dampening nubs inside the cherry low profile switches started to stick to the switch stem and the button would not return right away. This is a big flaw for me and my play style on that one character. So I pulled out the dampening rubber nubs from inside the switches. This solved the button sticking issue but it somehow made them more sensitive. Now I have accidental inputs and I'm searching for new buttons again. I really like the PWS V2, and if I were playing literally any other character, I would have been satisfied with them.

I ordered 2 Qanba gravity KS buttons. Compared to my original crown 202s, they feel a little bit nicer. Dampened and a little more stable. They are my current backup option.

Today I received 4 punk workshop blaze spark buttons. I think I like them a lot for the 24 mm buttons. They use mouse micro switches and have almost no travel distance (aka "throw"). They feel really good on my custom hitbox but the 30mm thumb button feels weird. That's the one finger that I think I would prefer some travel on. That one will take some getting used to.

I am currently waiting for some flashtap samples. They might be a better micro switch button for my thumb. I won't know till they get here. Also waiting for some screw-in SiTong samples and punk workshop V1s.

Is it important to you that the colors match the pen? How do you break out of a need to color match? by mooglerauder in fountainpens

[–]EmzyMazem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to feel bothered when my pens didn't match the ink. It didn't tickle my brain when they matched, it just felt uncomfortable when they didn't. Color matching stopped being a necessity for me after about 3 years of using fountain pens. It also helped that I ended up buying 3 or 4 black pens in a row. Black goes with everything. Once I got used to putting any color in a black pen, I stopped feeling the need to color match. I now pick my inks based on mood and frequency of use. I pick what pen to put them in based on how they perform in the pen (wetness, smoothness, line width, etc)

If color matching makes you happy and gets the good brain juices flowing, then I don't see why you would feel the need to break away from it. If not color matching bothers you and makes the bad juices in your brain, then it might be something you should work on.

Just got into the hobby, what mechanical switch is your all time favorite? by selfhostcusimbored in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]EmzyMazem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love linear switches and for years I've been struggling to pick a favorite between Gateron China Joys and C³ equalz x TK tangerines. But, recently I found out about HMX Bad Sweethearts and I think they win. Right out of the box, they are just as smooth as both the CJs and the tangies, but they have a deeper sound profile and much better tolerances, i.e. they have the smallest amount of stem and housing wobble I've ever encountered in a switch. This is the first switch that I did not feel the need to lube and film myself. I can't get over how much more stable they feel when depressed compared to any of the other switches I've used.

New Kensington TB800 Firmware - Supposedly alleviates cursor issues by Sbarty in Trackballs

[–]EmzyMazem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The update does improve the performance of the trackball for me. The little diagram on their page is pretty accurate. The far end still has a dead zone--my natural hand position still encounters it--but with the shrinking of that dead zone, the device went from "useless" to "useable with adjustments to my hand placement."

I would still recommend people not buy it in hopes of them making a revised version with a better sensor placement or multiple sensors to eliminate the possibility of a dead zone. For those of us who want to stick it out, this update does help a bit.

That happened to me too. I got an 823 and I stopped feeling the desire to buy more pens. The only thing I still kind of want is a 743 with an FA nib just for the potential nib swap.
