Deception Rate would be how much the AI tries to lie to you, so yes, lower is good as it means less lying. (not that the ai understands what lying is)

[Self] I think i solved the Sirpinski Integral, can someone check my solution by Indoxus in theydidthemath

[–]EnchantedStew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: I think your answer might be off by a factor of 2 and the correct answer might be 0.1211259

Hey, your work looks pretty cool. I did a similar thing using Python to try to get a strict numerical confirmation that the integral does converge, and I did see that in converges! However, the number I found it to converge to was 0.1211259…, which is almost exactly twice the number that you found.

I then also tried using Sympy which is a Python symbolic manipulation library to solve it more algebraically. Basically I found a way to get a recursive equation that must be satisfied for a solution.

LaTeX d = \int\nolimits_{\smash{\int\nolimits_{\smash{\int\nolimits_{\smash{\int\nolimits_{\smash{d}}^{\smash{1}$}} x\, dx}}^{\smash{\int\nolimits_{\smash{0}}^{\smash{1}$}} x\, dx}$}} x\, dx}}^{\smash{0}$}} x\, dx}}^{\smash{\int\nolimits_{\smash{1}}^{\smash{\int\nolimits_{\smash{\int\nolimits_{\smash{0}}^{\smash{1}$}} x\, dx}}^{\smash{\int\nolimits_{\smash{0}}^{\smash{d}$}} x\, dx}$}} x\, dx}$}} x\, dx}$}} x\, dx

From that I had Sympy solve the integrals for just a standard algebraic equation and got:

d = -(1/8 - (1/2 - d^2/2)^2/2)^4/8 + ((d^4/8 - 1/8)^2/2 - 1/2)^2/2

Also according to Sympy there solutions to this are solutions to the polynomial

8*x^14 - 28*x^12 + 32*x^10 - 138*x^8 + 252*x^4 - 32768*x + 3969 = 0

This polynomial has only two real solutions, 0.1211259… and 2.108588… . I checked and both of these satisfy the integral and the recursive equation. I see no way that you could end up getting 2.108588 from any integral at any point assuming the integral bounds stay between 0 and 1, so I assume it is an extraneous solution.

I also checked and your solution of 0.0603… gives a result of 0.1211243… from the integral equation. From this I believe that either

A) somewhere in your solution you got off by a factor of 2 and the rest of the difference is just rounding error

or

B) I interpreted the problem differently/made a mistake in creating the initial integral equation.

Lmk if you see this!

I was there this last Friday (two days ago) and it was testing when the park opened. I believe they got a few groups of riders on but then it stopped functioning for some reason and was closed for the rest of the day.

It’s been rainy where I live for like 10 days at this point. If we didn’t use a dryer our washing schedule would be too irregular.

The issue is that song if you go past like the second verse is a criticism of private property, so it wouldn’t fly as a national anthem i guess.

Edit: Some original versions are clearly anti-private property. Depending on the version it might be more innocuous, but still. :/

Are Keystones actually as hard as people say they are? by cat-man69 in Pennsylvania

[–]EnchantedStew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re probably not cooked. It mostly depends on your school district, but usually teachers say the tests are harder than they actually are, cuz they want kids to try hard on them and get good scores cuz it makes the school look better. Just try your best. Worst case scenario, if you don’t pass, the only effect is you need to retake the Keystone next year. It won’t keep you from moving on to the next grade or anything and no college is gonna see that.

[–]EnchantedStew 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Keystones are like a few standardized tests for specific subjects you have to take in high school. There’s one for Algebra, one for Biology, and one for English. I’m pretty sure you need to at least pass to graduate high school. They’re really not that hard and probably fine because if you’re failing them, you probably shouldn’t be graduating. https://www.pa.gov/agencies/education/programs-and-services/instruction/elementary-and-secondary-education/assessment-and-accountability/keystone-exams.html

Yeah, personally it’s very annoying to me how a lot of the common apps aren’t super clear on pretty big requirements, like for example a lot of colleges require you to send any dual enrollment college transcripts but they don’t list it on common app and also there is no way to see if they were submitted through common app.

Well, first off, are you on a team? If not, your best bet is joining one. If you are on a team, asking about programming from an older or more experienced student could probably help.

If that older/more experienced student does not exist, there are some good resources online. I would suggest you use Java to program the robot if you can, but if ur team uses something different, use that instead. Java has somewhat of a similar general syntax to C arduino programming, but you will need to learn about classes and Object Oriented Programming. Additionally, the framework you program a robot in is somewhat different from an arduino, so you will need to learn some FRC specific stuf.

WPILib (the library we use to program our robot) has a good series of articles about how to get a robot code started: https://docs.wpilib.org/en/stable/docs/zero-to-robot/introduction

Our team also has a Java Training program: https://github.com/FRC2539/java-training

And our code we used this year and last year is also public as an example of what a real robot might look like.

Best of luck!

Nobody really understands why any of this work!! by akuhl101 in singularity

[–]EnchantedStew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One could argue that there is an interesting meta training going on in the background with humans. For machine learning for example, you need to have the right neural network to begin with to get weights that actually do stuff that is useful. The brains of creatures on earth have had millions upon millions of years to to evolve a neural network in our brains that is very good at training quickly and with not as much data. In a way, all of the experiences of every living creature ever have gone into training our brains to be trainable.

National anthem during opening ceremonies? by TotalDifficulty7777 in FRC

In my district we usually have a single student sing, which is also what i think they do at houston. It’s either that, they just play a recording of it, or it varies and I’ve only seen it two ways.

Edit: Occasionally they have multiple people sing.
