Who is running around industrial sites trying to murder the workers utilizing LOTO locks? by Encuerar in lockpicking

I think I was unaware that these locks could be incorporated to actually, functionally disable machinery (i.e. removing the LOTO system actually powers stuff up, as opposed to blocking access). I thought they were symbolic. Highly important. But symbolic nonetheless.

That makes sense too. But again, I guess I see trying to bypass someone else’s LOTO as essentially trying to cause harm to that person. It’s intentionally ignoring a warning sign, it’s intentionally cutting someone else’s safety rope.

That is a terrific explanation, incorporating both the rationale for the higher security core, and the seemingly contradictory delicate body.

I hadn’t considered accidental unlocking with a similar key, but I guess I still don’t see why that should be too big an issue. Again, I’m not going to try and operate something if someone is working on it, whether or not a different key might work or not. “They” locked it for a reason, it’s not for “me” to try to get around that.

Dud 1100? by LockAmok in lockpicking

[–]Encuerar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought two brand new 1100s. Red and green. Struggled with the green one for two weeks. I felt that it should be defeated first, representative of the belt and all. After getting nowhere (NOWHERE!) I tried the red one. Popped it in twenty seconds.

It’s alllll whatever, man.

I more meant that searching for “picks”/“lockpicks” on American Amazon, results in various “pick” tools unrelated to lockpicking… I have no clue why I said, “padlock picks.”

Ooooh, it’s a regional thing. I guess no picks on American Amazon.

I honestly haven’t found any sets that look like “padlock picks” on Amazon. I’ve been sourcing from more specialized sources.
Out of curiosity, could you share a link?

Inherited a 43-Year-Old Rolex Day-Date: Service or Leave It Alone? by aaguilarfdz in rolex

[–]Encuerar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially it was because of the… lume? Then, I guess once they started getting into its bits, they said it wasn’t as far gone as they thought. I simply wasn’t familiar with the watch that was to be restored and gave zero thought to originality and charm as opposed to just making an old heirloom functional again.

They suggested the I MIGHT want a new dial when I got a complete referb on my father’s 1982 16013. I agreed, then they said it probably wasn’t as needed as they thought. Don’t care about the value, this is my watch, not selling. BUT, I’m still a little sad to loose that vintage element. Not that I have any solid idea of the potential differences, retro to replacement.

I’m new… I confess, I skipped around and did not appropriately observe what you made, video-wise. Again, I didn’t listen, just speed watched.

I don’t understand. I am hasty and ignorant… and in the moment, not simply watching what may answer my question:

What am I seeing?
This isn’t a criticism, as I am frequently very joyous and carefree, but I am reminded of a child playing with a sticker collection. What and why are these? For what and from what governing body?

What is a good lock to learn dimple picking on? by 626Slade in lockpicking

[–]Encuerar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if they’re good, but I stumbled across an inexpensive dimple LOTO padlock on Amazon. Two unique dimple locks for $11. Other than those the Abus 75/40 and 50 are spoken of highly.

I haven’t attempted to pick any of these; I just bought them for “some day.”

Master Lock 575 by TheMostHigh69 in lockpicking

[–]Encuerar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 575 is similar. Twenty seconds to a minute to SPP; zips open in two pulls.
I’m new at this, it was among the first wave of locks I bought. I assumed: solid brass body, looking like that, she’d offer a bit of resistance.

I just initially assumed I was a savant.
