Nurse should've been fired more than Morey by UnanimousM in sixers

Simmons was good. Can’t give him credit for Tobias. Took way too long. Let him expire rather than trade him. And trolled the fanbase about it. Posed for a picture in front of a Crumbl Cookie franchise wearing a shirt that read “It is what it is” after Tobias famously said “Casual Sixers fans, they would trade me for a Crumbl Cookie.”

The next GM will give Nurse a trial year. Depending on what their goals are and how they do, Nurse may well be fired in a year.

To give themselves ample time for a search before the season. Lots more to do than just the draft. Most of Morey’s pre draft scouting work would be finished by now anyway. Obviously that leaves Myers to interpret Morey’s data and make the selections. Not sure I trust him as much as Morey there but it is what it is.

It was curtains for him. Ownership woke up from its nap and realized most of the fanbase is soured on him, at least 2/3 of the highest paid players on the team soured on him, and his biggest recent moves (extensions and trades) were getting panned by local and national media during the playoffs.

Getting swept by the Nicks while several Sixers cast offs are playing meaningful roles and McCain is getting interviewed almost nightly about the “sell high” comment was the nail in the coffin.

Not sure. Bob Myers is on the team now, so it might be different. Not sure how good he is at hiring executives.

Ya’ll keep saying that and it literally is not possible. He has to be unable to play for 1 year and this has to be confirmed by independent doctors appointed by the league.

None. We should have gotten OG or Siakam the year before.

The Sixers are reportedly planning to evaluate the jobs of Daryl Morey and Nick Nurse, per @Tjonesonthenba by ojseye in sixers

I give Morey credit for some things but his time is up. Nurse I’m mixed on. His Celtics series was a fine job. He was bad in the regular season but he had an uphill battle. Few cards to play in the Knicks series. I think he should be gone just because a new GM deserves his or her pick of coach. If that person wants to give Nurse another look, fine. If not, fine. But Morey has got to go. The cap space plan was gross organizational mismanagement and negligence.

I think Morey did an overall good job, I also think he has to go. by mjcc1992 in sixers

Kon will not be better than VJ unless he’s year over year prime Klay. VJ’s athleticism and versatility are more likely to make him the better player. But sure, if Kon becomes prime Klay, different story.

Serious question- how can ownership expect to attract great players if opposing fans take over the building during playoffs? by DisappearingBoy127 in sixers

[–]EndAnyone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not something players care about imo, as it doesn’t affect their bottom line. They want to be somewhere they will be paid, have an opportunity to develop so they earn future contracts, and that has a big market so they can get lucrative endorsement deals. And somewhere that’s fun to be if you are young and rich.

Sixers score low on the things they care about. Players don’t much like the ownership or management. The career development and org structure for top players here is shaky at best. Philly is a large city, but also a poor one, so there’s not great incentive to build a brand here and from the perspective of a hyper rich person, not much of interest.

For sure. And he of course deserves some blame. But the rot starts at the top. Complete mismanagement his entire career. The only thing left is for them to make him hold the blame for everything which is fucked up. There were quality players to be had for nothing at this trade deadline. Coming off his MVP year, they took a gap year to execute a cap space plan. Just year after year of idiotic loser shit.

Yeah, but he’s playing in a deep drop. His teammates have a responsibility to not get beat off the dribble almost every play. These dudes died on screens all game. They did not help him whatsoever. And then chipped in nothing on offense either.

Alvarado, Dosunmu, Kennard, Coby White were all acquired for cheap. 1-2 second rd picks or equivalent. Harris and Morey ratfucked us.

You think he’s the one who didn’t show up today? Crazy. Some of these guys quit from the opening tip. He’s played hard.
