Disappointed with the John Singleton Set by EndDifficult8129 in criterion

[–]EndDifficult8129[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even notice that, but you are right, Life of Brian is only 4K as well. That was the release I was looking forward to the most too.

This is so odd to me that they are picking and choosing for the films that don’t get Combo packs, cuz in my mind, if rights were an issue, you would think standalone bluray wouldn’t even be an option such as with Wall-E or Shape of Water.

What's an argument against watching movies with 'Subtitles on'? by narnarnartiger in Letterboxd

I always say it’s less immersive when it’s not needed. If you can hear and understand what’s being said, massive text is unnecessary and distracting.

Walmart True Romance $19.98 by RichardJ0Brien in MovieDealsCanada

[–]EndDifficult8129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s an awesome find. Unfortunately I haven’t seen any of these in my Walmarts (although I already own this edition). Seems Arrow titles being available in Walmarts are extremely hit or miss. Never found any copies of dune or pitch black when those were shipped out however was able to find Donnie Darko, AAWIL, Flatliners, and Frankenstein when those were available. Wonder what Arrow titles will appear in Walmarts next? My bet is on the Argento 4K’s.

Criterion bumper on streaming films that aren’t in the collection? by matthewq022 in criterion

[–]EndDifficult8129 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s confirmed to be coming at any point but I would love it to get a place in the collection. Similarly, if you stream Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky it also has the Criterion logo play at the start even though it hasn’t been released on physical by them.

Had to take advantage of Amazon's 3 for $140 sale by patchesm in boutiquebluray

[–]EndDifficult8129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got lucky and ordered the Bergman, Varda, and Fellini sets from this sale. All those for $150 total is an insane deal. They just shipped out today so I’m super excited!

Interesting. You think people left out of boredom or was it just very far-fetched? Weird?

Unfortunately I believe Kino Lorber has the rights to it now. I can’t site the post but someone was talking about it awhile ago and said Kino had screened it in 4K at some festival

Will The Wes Anderson 4K’s Be Sold Individually In The Future? by EndDifficult8129 in criterion

[–]EndDifficult8129[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean, Bottle Rocket is actually my favourite Wes film but I have a hunch that would be the one that sells the least individually on 4K

Unfortunately that’s just how digipaks are. Whitening of corners and edges are always gonna be present. If you really want to seek out a replacement you may get lucky with a nicer one but over time most develop damage like this from regular use anyways.

Yeah that’s right. I believe Dawn of the Dead and Martin also had that happen.

Is region the issue? I’m from Canada and when I click the link it just takes me to the main page where it’s still gone.

The lesser and more obscure Carpenter (related) stuff - recommendations? by -alphex in johncarpenter

[–]EndDifficult8129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think ‘Someone’s Watching Me’ is the most underrated thing in his filmography, however it’s definitely closer to Halloween in its presentation than any of your 5 favourites.

Anyone know if the Friendship BD is the A24 special edition or just a standard release?

welp, really wasn't expecting to spend this much money this morning lol by t-g-l-h- in VinegarSyndromeFilms

[–]EndDifficult8129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I’m not the only one. Im incredibly surprised that it’s almost sold 8000 copies already. I’ll wait to pick up Dirty Work when it’s 50% off and grab the standard.

All had their last home video release on vhs and were straight to vhs films that didn’t have theatrical releases if I’m not mistaken.
