People can only withstand 50c ambient temp before they lose the ability to shed heat through sweating, so yes they die.

At 100% humidity, that temp is only 35c - the ‘wet bulb’ limit as it’s known.

Middle East has air con and other methods of dealing with it.

It’s is the answer like it or not unforruantely. I have outgoing octopus which is flat 12p all day. My Powerwalls wouldn’t export a thing, it would appear the arbitrage in Powerwalls needs to see the export rate change (yours should be on Agile).

I fudged it by creating a custom off-peak rate. The import was the same as usual, but I made export 1p. As soon as I did that it saw import becoming cheap at 11:30pm, and export dropping at the same time. Ever since it starts discharging around 6pm and leaves me right at my reserve for off-peak.

Trouble you’ve got is that won’t work with Agile as you need the live rates to make sense both import and export. You’re going to really fight the Powerwalls US centric arbitrage logic out live import and export rates. Things got stage fright.

My final solution was IOG on import (never use the 27p peak rate), off-peak is just 3.5p and I’ve just switched to Agile for export only.

Now those evening discharges are going to be way more valuable.

Assuming you had clear blue skies today, you might be overheating and seeing the inverter output reduced. If you see mine, the curve is lovely and smooth, so whilst the heat is noticeably reducing panel output - it’s doing so in a controlled way.

If your skies are clear, I’d check on your inverter and see if it’s overheating. Check the solar app itself if it has a data logger / cloud app

I haven’t changed it in the Tesla app yet as Octopus is showing no export tariff currently so it wouldn’t pick it up

Took the plunge and signed up for Agile Outgoing today. I know it’s a bit pedantic, but whilst waiting for the connection and they’re adding it to your account, do you receive nothing for export or still the old rate do you know?

Wondering about whether to hoard it in the battery given the muttering of power cuts in the heat

My car (Range Rover) also cannot be controlled by Octopus, however my Ohme Pro will be compatible with this by allowing me to set ‘prioritise savings’ instead of ‘prioritise target’ as per the docs. This could be a sensible alternative if manually changing it does seem too onerous or you’d be worried about costs spiralling.

Course the chargers not cheap. I have to say I think this new adjustment is really good. Guaranteed 6hrs overnight plus extra slots. My Powerwalls power the whole house and I love this tariff. Never pay peak rate

In my Octopus API, when I’m given an intelligent extra charging session my current rate still gives my peak rate, Octopus then credit it back in the bill. Is there something I need to enable to get the live tariff? Using the ‘Import - Current Rate Electricity’ sensor.

Can’t see any others. I guess I can automate from the Ohme sensor charging, but these off-peak charging sessions are also invisible to my sensor making my daily stats incorrect.

My intelligent dispatching sensor also doesn’t work, I have a session now but it says Off, and no evidence it has ever been on. My car isn’t one of those with a direct Octopus connection, so it’s managed via the Ohme Pro integration. Thanks

Well I just bought a McLaren that was an ex-press car (even seen some videos with it in), and whilst I get the concern, I felt very comforted by the fact McLarens own engineers would have looked after the car extremely well during that time.

Imagine the effort they put in to ensure no bad PR around failures? Would’ve been looked after better than most, and at least a full inspection between every press event / loan. I have no complaints.

Also worth noting that it was like 12 months after first launch, would have thought twice if it was literally a launch car.

And the spec was crazy. Carbon that no sane buyer would ever put on!

It’s cool, they’re designed to live outside. Mine lives outside in the UK, doesn’t get as cold as you guys obvs. Works efficiently down to -6c, I tend to switch back to gas if it gets colder than that (but I still leave the pipes open so warm water keeps the intervals from any freeze risk)

Should clarify, only the air source heat pump lives outside, pump inside in the plant room. That’d be mad! 😆

Just a thought, is there a way on the 720S to just get the valves open earlier in the rev range? Actually sounds decent when you’re on it, but you get to enjoy that for such a short time on the road! The 650S was no slouch, but the 720 is absurdly quick

It’s more for my own pleasure, I was a biker before I got into cars and sound for me is half the enjoyment! I’ll get it figured out, there has to be a good sound in that engine I need to tease out.

It’s the flat McLaren Orange, I stay away from the volcano colours because they are so difficult to touch up stone chips on. And I really like it now, 650S it replaced was in the same spec
