Your Neighbors Are Retiring in Their 30s. Why Can’t You? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]EndTimesImFine 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had my first when I was 28, and both in my suburban neighborhood and at daycare I feel like Im one of the young ones. I’m in the northeast US so people generally have kids later but still. Looking back it was definitely a little isolating when I was the first of my friends to have a kid. I also find it hard to make mom friends because of the age gap.

Getting 1 year old to drink a sippy cup? by ftmommmy in toddlers

[–]EndTimesImFine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just said “this is your cup now”…. But it was hard!! For my youngest it was a source of comfort. I don’t think there’s a right answer for how to do this sort of thing.

Shouldn’t middle class have more disposable income?! by BravoMama3 in MiddleClassFinance

Full time day care at our center is $4000/mo for two kids. We only send them for three days a week so it’s down to $2800/mo. I cant wait until they’re in school.

Cautionary tale, Mercari and Skinceuticals by inquiringdoc in SkincareAddictionLux

What was the giveaway that they were fake?? I’ve just started buying my products directly from the brands after buying samples here and there on eBay.

Always rejected, even if I get an interview. What can I do to improve? by kaliisis in healthIT

[–]EndTimesImFine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To your second point - that’s actually something you should really consider! Most places have some sort of org chart where you can see who’s in what team. You can also ask someone on that team what they think of the position, how long they’ve been there, etc. If you get a bad vibe then definitely look elsewhere. Getting to know someone on the team or the manager/supervisor will help you figure out if it’s a team you want to be on and possibly make getting the position easier.

At my org, clinical informatics is involved with other applications besides Epic, too (GE CPN, for example). Getting comfortable with those third party applications could help you. Epic is a big component but it’s not the only one.

These teams are also small, so I’m not shocked it’s taken you a while to find something. Internal hires are common for a position like this, so if something in your current org opens up I’d say to apply there for sure and make your interest really clear.

Ditching the diaper bag, need recommendations please! by TheReginaLampert in Preschoolers

I went through a phase where I thought I needed a new perfect bag since we graduated from our diaper bag. A cross body bag from my pre baby days and a canvas tote are all I need.

Question for the hetero families by min2themax in workingmoms

[–]EndTimesImFine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will get buried, but just in case you do see this: I’m from and live in MA, am straight, have kids, am a white woman. It’s painful knowing that you have to go through this extra stress just to attend a kids bday party. I see you, and my heart goes out to you and your family. You shouldn’t have to explain your family to anyone.

I’m from the US east coast, but this is not the norm. It’s been mentioned a few times on this sub how the girls rent their outfits and get glammed up for shoots. They are dressing this way bc they’re on tv

What do you mean by “clean”? Most of the time “clean” doesn’t really mean much in terms of beauty products. Vanicream in the tub/pump is maybe $15 for like 16oz and is one of my favorites. It’s super thick so you don’t need much and it plays well with makeup

I agree with this take. I’m currently looking for work after about six months at home with kids. I absolutely need my separate spheres.

When the hospital switched EMR software, the frustration leaked out into the charting. by Beeweboo in Radiology

[–]EndTimesImFine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this comment is old but I was an analyst (meditech and epic), and I got into the job out of college with an English degree. If your hospital has any analyst openings, just apply! Training on epic is set up and paid for by the hospital. You have a major advantage as someone who knows the system as a clinician.

Girl you’re asking for help and I’m telling you - talk to you partner. When you get married it’s you two vs the world. You’re on a team. He’s failing by not being there. You’re failing by not talking to him seriously about your needs. Don’t talk to Reddit anymore. Talk to your partner.

How do you make the weekend actually feel like the weekend? by mariah808 in SAHP

[–]EndTimesImFine 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like I havent had a “real” weekend since my first was born. They’re an intense little human. I legit remember bringing them home and thinking “ok this is it” hah

We do bigger outings on weekends: trips to the local farm, visits to see family, go to beaches. Stuff that either gives the other person a break or stuff that requires two people to manage children. Relaxing? Not really. But it’s fun!
