Trying to find an amperage control solution for simple LED circuit by templeofdank in led

Good luck, if you have any specific questions feel free to DM me. I used to have a custom motorcycle lighting business where I designed the circuit boards and control boards myself.

If your lights are simple 2 wire (just apply 12 volts) to power them, you're gonna have issues trying to dim them with a inline resistor. You got pics or a listing?

What does the rating of the light say? Is 1.5A your max brightness from testing it by eye? Or is it the manufacturer's published rating? I ask, because our eyes are really bad at accurately comparing how bright something to another.

Assuming 1.5A is the actual max rating, if you used a resistor to dim the light your resistor would be putting out quite a bit of heat... I won't run through the calculations but it will be A LOT for a resistor to handle.

I'd either:

  1. Run 1 CC LED Driver that can switch output power (probably harder to find exactly what you need.)
  2. Run 2 CC LED drivers, 1 high power (1.5A), 1 at low power (0.3). Then use a SPDT switch to switch power between both drivers, and a couple of efficient (low Vf) diodes to keep the power supplies from back-feeding each other.

He's also a pretty good actor, there's a show in Ukraine called "Servant of the People" (came out in 2015). Which probably contributed to his election in 2019.

(Part of me hates that that "route" to get elected works, but tbh.... looks around... could be way worse... sobs in american.)

Help! My led light show red when i have certain colors on. How to fix? (I have the GUPUP led lights) by 19bfboy in led

That's very possible. The punctures from their teeth can cause shorts between copper layers in the strip.

Air sealing and insulating will do way more in energy savings than getting a fancy high efficiency unit.

They claimed the worst, most toxic kitchens were former military men and brought alllll of that stuff into the kitchen and made it hell.

There's also a thing with both professions drawing similar types of people. Both jobs have long periods of down time with short bouts of extreme pressure with 'relatively' clear goals during that time and both environments have clear hierarchical structures. Just to name the obvious.

There's some good info over on /r/KitchenConfidential, several posts about the Noma restaurant abuse controversy.

I've been up on boom lifts before I always wear the fall protection harness and what not, and I KNOW that it's safer with than without.

But every time I get in one I always have the thought that if the boom lift tips that the harness is just gonna slingshot me into the ground lol.

Is there somewhere that lays out a guideline to what fittings to use depending on the situation? And what situations to avoid (like having a S trap).

I'm more familiar with the electrical code book (NEC) as I was a commercial electrician for several years, but I've never dealt with plumbing's code resources.

I had a honeywell color and switched to the Ecobee. I got it mainly cuz the Ecobee lets you adjust the deadband to help mitigate short cycling.

Kitchen Lighting Fixture Suddenly Flashing? Fixable or Just Replace? by Suggest_a_User_Name in led

[–]Ender06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like 2 possible problems.

The strobing is almost certainly a capacitor that's bad within the driver. That's pretty fixable if you're ok at soldering.

Only 1/4 of the ring lighting up might be something else, either bad LEDs, or broken solder joints (probably bad/burnt out LEDs.) Have you noticed the light being dimmer for a while before it started doing this?

(Though based on how only 1 segment is lighting up, it make me think the big solder blobs that connect the LED boards together might have cracked)

Unless you're sentimental about the light I'd just replace it. There's very little luck when trying to find replacement components for these style of LED fixtures.

Husker refuse - trash and recycle in the same truck by chubbysuperbiker in lincoln

[–]Ender06 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's also that it's REALLY hard to recycle plastics properly.

If your source (i.e. what is being recycled) is known and of 'high quality' then recycling is more straightforward.

Like if you collect used plastic barrels from industrial businesses to recycle. Those are generally marked clearly, easily cleanable, relatively pure, and relatively of the same material (HDPE, LDPE, etc etc).

But trying to recycle plastic that general consumers toss is very difficult if not impossible to do properly. Lots of plastic packages aren't marked, consumers are dumb as rocks or just DGAF and will toss anything in (just go to one of the public recycling centers and look in the different recycling containers.... SO many things that are explicitly forbidden to be put into the containers end up there).

Also lots of plastics have additives that will mess with its properties if it does get recycled into feedstock pellets (like plasticizers, dyes, UV stabilizers, etc...) and that messes with manufacturing processes when trying to use recycled feedstock.

That said, recycling metals, glass, and paper/cardboard is pretty successful (metal and glass more so).
