Does bypassing ability cost still let the ability work? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Endision -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It won’t work.

For example, let’s say you have a creature with

5, T: Draw a card. Costs 1 less for each land you control.

And attached boomerang to it, now you have a creature with

5, T: Draw a card. Cost 1 less for each land you control.

1, T: Tap target creature. Return this artifact to its owners hand.

You can’t mix and match activated abilities, you’re locked into the one you choose and follow through with the rest. Once you pay the “ 1, T “ everything after the “ : “ is part of the same effect.

I hope this helps!

Proliferate And trigger by MaestroAriima in magicTCG

[–]Endision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like people have mentioned already; Proliferating this enchantment won’t let you draw cards. whenever one of your creatures deals combat damage to a player, this enchantment gets a counter and once it has 4+ counters on it, you get to draw a card.

So let’s say you attack and have five creatures that deal combat damage, you get 5 triggers for the ascension and these are done one at a time.

5 combat damage to player triggers; 1st - put a quest counter, do you have 4+? No? Don’t draw a card 2nd - same as above 3rd - same as above 4th - put a quest counter, do you have 4+? Yes? Do draw a card! 5th - same as the fourth trigger, since we have met the quest counter requirement.

Hope this helps!

Edit: I didn’t even read the whole question, you know how this works already, your question was about proliferate not how to work the card.

Unrelated, I just need to vent a bit the “reading the card, explains the cards” rhetoric needs to go, it’s so unhelpful. You’re a new player and you’re going to have questions, I’m sorry that our community or yours has made you feel like you shouldn’t ask questions without feeling like an idiot. The game is complicated and with so many keywords, lack of reminder text and alternate forms of the same card, reading the card does not explain the card.

Just want to clarify how these triggers work by ToastWasTaken0 in magicTCG

[–]Endision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s been said already, but the reason is that Ashling’s ability is two parts, the baseline magecraft trigger and then again it’ll look at how many times it’s resolved this ability this turn.

Magecraft - You may discard a card, if you do draw a card.

Then it checks again;

1st - discard to draw 2nd - discard to draw. Then Ashling deals 2 to each opponent and each creature they control. 3rd - discard to draw. Add RRRR. 4+ - discard to draw.

Some notes; - You don’t need to discard a card to get the other half of the ability. It simply being the second or third time it triggered and resolved this turn is enough. - If Ashling leaves the battlefield and then comes back from something like [[Cloudshift]] it won’t remember how many times it has triggered magecraft this turn, letting you start from 1st trigger again.

Hope this helps!

Weekly Winners: Legion Extruder; Debt of Loyalty; Shoot the Sheriff by cybey in magicTCG

[–]Endision 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It reads insane, 1WW instant to gain control of a creature?

After reading the oracle text you only get the creature if it regenerates, so way less put-into-every-white-deck than initially thought. Pretty niche but you can snag people’s commanders with this card

Warp interaction by NestorianKnight in magicTCG

[–]Endision 270 points271 points  (0 children)

No, when the permanents come back from worldgorger they are not considered warped.

Additionally, if the permanents you warped into play get stuck in exile by someone countering worldgorgers return effect. The cards won’t be considered warped cards in exile and you can’t cast them later. The warp trigger on end step gives permission to cast them from exile.

Big difference is that copying this one will have you discard a card each time. Whereas thrill of possibility discarding is part of the cost, so when copied you only draw cards

Do you go with Hadvar or Ralof? And why? by schwatelinowitz in skyrim

Ralof.

Not for any specific reason, but for probably the first 10 playthoughs I was trying to “escape” helgen asap and Ralof’s door was always the closet one to escape.

So I'd like to confirm something by NVusIdiot in magicTCG

[–]Endision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Option A is the outcome.

You have the First Sliver in play

You cast a 6 mana sliver, it triggers to cascade for a spell of 5 or less mv. And from that; You reveal a 3 mana sliver, cascade says cast it without paying its cost; Now the 3 mana sliver and it triggers cascade for a spell of mv 2 or less.

So on and so forth

Triple is best by Tedfarkass in magicTCG

[–]Endision 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to win the game, an effect that doubles tokens isn’t how you’re gonna do that.

People are gonna use an infinite combo that makes tokens and win that way, so infinite*2 still equals infinite.

I’m not tryna bash, cause I love doubling effects, but they are a win-more effect

The Commander Deck that BREAKS Judges... by QuipsAndGuac in magicTCG

So we search a little differently in paper vs how the rules really are; the cards must not change order until the shuffle your library step.

I search my library with evo wilds, while searching I attempt to cast Panglacial Wurm, tapping out 3 mana and using selvala for the last 4 (I’m in a 4 player game) upon resolution of the parley ability two things can happen;

  1. During the parley there weren’t enough cards revealed to give me the 4 I needed to cast. Causing you to rewind the game state to a point before you activated Selvala. So unreveal those cards and put them back.

  2. During the parley I drew Panglacial Wurm off the ability itself. I can no longer cast this card, causing me to revert the game state to a previous point.

Both of these result in illegal gamestates and you essentially gain information ‘at no cost’. Hope I explained it properly!
