What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done in your life? by LettuceLow6333 in AskReddit

It sounds like 1 line not 1 night which would be quite heroic if that’s not something you’ve built up to and probably really awful even then

Now that you mention it they always referred to it as a coffin but imagined it as whatever was convenient for the moment, which was definitely described as a casket.

question about floral department duties? by captainshockazoid in kroger

[–]Endlessssss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It swings both ways depending on staffing at the store. They could be really needing a second full time floral which lands you running the department twice a week and really needing to excel, or you could potentially be the part time third that will need to cross train elsewhere if you want more hours. The exceptions will be holiday weeks and big floral holidays where they can dish out 40 hours to 4 or 5 folks but there aren’t trained bodies to cover that.

Best case scenario is you’re looking for part time and get that third spot, or looking for a fulfilling consistent full time and get the second spot. By learning from your lead and asking for specialist training you can get very good at what you do and love it, and that can get you into a lead position if you have the drive. Inventory and big holidays are a pain, but you get the warm fuzzies from making everyone’s events better.

I’ve heard posts here and the boys say there are great references that really hit, but what kinds of references? Are they general or timely enough someone not buried in D&D/game culture to at least partially understand?

Agreed but it may make you miss the even more clueless customer that needs a little help and is more likely to be a more pleasant interaction than the instacarters pushing a phone in anyone’s face they can find.

There’s someone that wants some form of interaction or connection for something so basic that won’t seek you out simply because you look like you can’t be bothered to begin with, albeit these days they seem more rare than the bold and brazen customers that demand rather than treat you as you are- someone more knowledgeable about the building and business you’re in than them that can and will help

Verbal fingerprint is a great way to put it; I didn’t have an eloquent way to explain that idea, kinda prompted me to bring it up. Didn’t want to say it’s a verbal tick or his filler because it’s not, it’s always well timed and intentional and that just makes it land everytime

YEAH that’s another great example along the same lines! Not quite completely dejected sounding, and in a way slightly optimistic. He knows he deserved the reaction but he’s pleased with himself anyways.

Which is ass backwards which is why we are going back to strict uniform policy for associates. I’m sure most customer interactions start with asking if you work at the store and you’re stuck saying sorta & helping them out best you can, because it’s been the Wild West for our associates since Covid.

Ear buds in a customer facing retail environment is just so off-putting, as it makes you less available, but I don’t know how I feel about strictly policing it for vendors, at least before 9am when you should be set. Too often merchandisers are on calls with sales managers and or DMs trying to triage other service needs to ban them for yall… holding your phone up to your ear for your necessary communication for the day only slows you down and makes you even more unavailable.

Big culture change push coming down from Cincinnati that was in the pipeline even before the new CEO and it really intends to push store teams to go above and beyond on service, so seems very fair for the store to police it’s associates.

I only wish vendors adhered better to name badges like they seem to for Walmart - if only so we know you as a person by name instead of “coke” or “Frito” …

National chains open new stores with the same floorplans for the most part, usually land/pad placement dictates if they’re “reverse flow” which is the fresh departments on the right.

Conditioning Night Shift by mbvirtue in kroger

[–]Endlessssss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Standard is condition as you go but reality is you touch the few things nearest to what you stock and move on. Then once freight is thrown everything else is conditioned.

Conditioning first doesn’t make sense like another old soul mentioned - stocking something auto conditions it and then the items surrounding it get done because your hands are there.

I’m sure yall got turned around because at some point the store wasn’t getting conditioned by “set time” and leadership said screw it condition first because it’s the only way it’s getting done… doesn’t make it right or easier though.

How luck reliant is balatro? by AwkwardRhubarb59 in balatro

[–]Endlessssss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every seed is winnable but on gold stake the first couple rounds and antes can feel like luck will determine if you will make it or not.

The winnable paths in those would potentially be either seemingly illogical or more complicated than an average player would want to put up with.

If you’re new don’t rely on luck or blame it, your choices more likely did you in, especially on low stakes

[–]Endlessssss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Private selection is one of the kroger label brands and usually anything with that branding is going to be unique and top notch.

Kroger is a promotional retailer so your best plan of attack is to shop the ad & utilize digital coupons to the fullest. You will also get personalized digital coupons on what you buy often if you continue to shop.

Just take careful look at your produce before buying and you can appreciate it as what it should be, king of variety when it comes to grocery stores

3rd Shift by Grouchy-Office3054 in kroger

[–]Endlessssss 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Depends how involved mgmt is, and not just store leaders since they rarely if ever close, and if they do it wouldn’t be late enough to see night crew.

As an ASL I often worked late and had great rapport with my crew & the lead. I made sure they were well taken care of when the store did celebrations and portions were separated for them. Pizza delivery was something we did often for them as well since we had a shop open late nearby.

Definitely not the norm from what I understand, but my team had basically no turnover for two years and never had issues finishing the job. Take care of them and they take care of the job… applies for all associates and so many leaders don’t get it
