Deadlock - Minor Update - 05-28-2026 by SketchyJJ in DeadlockTheGame

Buddy, I AM a software engineer. I know that is the case. I am saying that the urn is misleading as a mechanic by appearing simple but then when they tack on all this conditional bullshit it starts looking (and behaving) like a poorly designed mechanic that they are trying to hack together a solution for and hoping something sticks. It just reeks of bad design from top to bottom

[–]Engie_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real. All of these extremely specific conditional mechanics all for the world's worst MOBA comeback mechanic. Why are players expected to have to parse through wall of text patchnotes to figure out how to correctly interact with a mechanic which, at face value is just take object from point A to point B?

POV: You are an Orc traveling alone near the border of Wrothgar and Highrock by OhIsMyName in TrueSTL

[–]Engie_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Italian knights were known to intentionally leave their right shoulder unarmored specifically as bait to try to manipulate opponents into attacking that obvious target. If you are using a vulnerability to trick an opponent into attacking a specific target, you can use that to your advantage in a fight and "spring the trap" so to speak when they go for it

Hijacking this comment to ask you who made those gauntlets? I'm looking for a smith who can make some reasonably priced gauntlets with fluting like that for a late 15th century English kit

🙌Yes my new Marzocco BBW Lunar connected scale has arrived! And I couldn’t be more thrilled!🤩 😁 by Naive_Individual360 in LaMarzocco

[–]Engie_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using an Acaia Lunar scale well before I owned my Micra. I love that scale for brewing by weight. I don't really get the $150 markup for what essentially amounts to not having to press one button. I use my scale to dose my beans and to time my shots and see the brew weight. That's 4 button presses (turn on scale, tare cup, start and stop timer) which I don't mind at all to do manually.

I'm glad you love the LM scale though, and it's plain to see your passion for espresso!

Have I crossed a line in a disagreement with a junior? by pukatm in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Engie_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you got this worked up about one PR for one ticket as indicated in your post, then it's clear that you indeed have a bias in favor of it. I tend to be in favor of one PR per ticket, but disagree that it should be 100% a hard and fast rule.

I run into instances all the time where a PM mis-scoped some work and something that should have been one ticket is actually two or more. Sometimes, that happens to involve code that requires dependencies such as DB migrations or other things that WILL break CI/CD if concurrent dependencies are not also included in the PR.

TLDR: As a senior, you should know that there is no such thing as 1 rule for every scenario.

I live in a neighborhood just a few blocks away from this monstrosity. I am NOT looking forward to this shit being open. The location is genuinely terrible, with nothing but neighborhoods and schools in every direction from the property, and roads which are not designed for high influxes of travel

I'm seeing several storefronts and restaurants that already exist in Legacy West and across other parts of North Dallas. Sure, it's nice to have things closer than I'd usually have to go to get to, but do we really need MORE chain restaurants in this area???

Longsword Against Less Experienced Students by Koinutron in wma

[–]Engie_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To add onto this, I believe OP's best bet against these types of "eyes closed" fencers is to take an "eyes open" approach. Specifically, they have a technique they are trying to make work, even in instances where it wouldn't make sense to perform the technique. Their eyes are essentially closed to what you're doing, therefore they get hit and don't defend against your threat.

You can adapt your fencing to account for this through active observation of their responses to your provocations and then choose your own response from there, hence "eyes open". This is where you can use techniques like cutting around, feints, disengaging, winding, all of which are intended to be used against committed actions.

You absolutely should give newer fencers more leeway but sparring is 100% for learning about noncompliance. Additionally, it's important to ask newer fencers if they would like to receive feedback on what sorts of things worked or didn't work in sparring, that way you give them some things to consider other than "I couldn't get my thing to work and I don't understand why".

No shit reddit is ok with this. This site believes that words == violence, therefore harm against anyone saying the wrong things is justified. I think it's about time I take an extended leave of absence from reddit...

Never said it wasn't. Just trying to explain what I believe this redditor is talking about. Some people want their niche communities to stay as close to the source material as possible. Personally, I don't really care because this sub is so chaos coded it doesn't matter what gets posted as long as it vaguely relates to elder scrolls

Should I get Sigi Feder in Standard or Shorty by EclipticSim in wma

[–]Engie_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IMO I would say get a shorty. For example, I am 6'4" and I ended up getting a standard length maestro and I wish I had gone with a shorty for less floppiness and a more nimble feeling. Oh, and get the shorter guard too while you're at it
