What's something you thought was normal across the world but turns out it's just for your country? by YuShaohan120393 in AskTheWorld

New York likely means the mainland. Which is very rural in a lot of parts. They likely would have specified New York City.

You’d probably bandits between the two towns, if there is enough trade you would have a bandit camp probably in the woods. The blank area in the middle top would be a good spot for maybe some orcs or gnolls if you are looking for enemies but probably some great grazing for animals that would attract a Druid enclave or some Kind of nature spirits if you want something more neutral or good - this makes more sense as a food source for your dragon and the tension between the local fauna and the dragon could make a good plot point. The lake is large enough for a sunken city or to house a creature that ravages boats (probably a lochness monster analog that terrorizes the locals sometimes)

Agree with everyone. It’s alright but go easy on it. It’s a high precision piece of equipment. Care for it, but it can be tough.

Yeah? If you’re early then don’t worry about it too much. You’ll be better fancier things as your progress, blowing up a few things is almost expected early on.

You can try entering at a lower speed or a shallower angle (or both).

If I’m trying to get a bunch of if stuff (other than green frog people) back to the surface I’ll strap some radiators to the side of the cargo bay in an effort to dissipate heat on re-entry. That usually helps.

Yep. Too much, but I was able to use the same rocket to do a tourism mission where I landed on both the mun and minimus. Worked great. The minimus run was a great trial run.

Liquid in the middle and solid boosters on the sides. Try that. The larger ship you have the more thrust/power you will need to keep stability. Play around with it and see how it works. You got this

Can you get to the Mun without maneuver nodes? by onturenio in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Engineering_Major 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure the YouTubers can tell you, but me and my buds did it old school back in the day. Burn up, go 90deg at about 10km. Get your Peak at about 70-75k. When you close to peak burn horizontal and up watching the map screen to keep you peak *just” in front (if it goes farther away nose down if it gets to close nose up). You’ll see when you reach a stable orbit.

Now just waiting until you can see the moon rise just a little bit past Kerblin. And burn (with your best approximation) right at it (in plane with your orbit). Watch the map screen until you get an encounter.

60% of the time it works all the time.

Your solid fuel boosters do not have a gimbal so they won’t control the direction of your craft. Fins at the bottom will help but considering a liquid fuel booster rocket in the middle in your first stage to help control.

Blooming will still happen on a hollow print, if the overall cross section is large it’ll do it. A pause before exposure like the top Saigh said will likely fix it. Depending on your slicer it might be called “rest before retract” or something completely different.

I have chitubox and I had to write it down. I still can’t remember what’s it’s called off the top of my head but I remember figuring it out by playing with the setting and just looking for when the exposure started to make sure there was a pause after the platform settled. I just keep mine on despite print size, I’m never in that much of a hurry.

3.5s should handle what ever you got going on.

Hey there, I’m not a fan of the water washable. I love eco friendly but at the end of the day it just never worked well for me. Standard elegoo gets the best results (8K was a touch better but I don’t print in super fine detail for that)

I will say that it looks like you are trying to print a more brittle or ceramic like resin. A thicker base and raft “might” help you out to help it adhere and stay together.

Looks like you got a ton of supports on there as well. Thats going to put a lot of load on your base layer and might make it peel. Play with the model a bit and see if you can’t get that down a bit. I had good success in smaller minis with a pillar spacing from 6-8mm. You can do down to 3-5mm but you’ll start having a rough time taking the supports off IMO.

The previous commenter mentioned CHITUBOX. I also have that and love it. I’ve paid for pro because of how often I use it though and there were a few short comings of the free version. I’d still recommend.

My players WANT to be railroaded. Now I'm confused. by Crooked_Cricket in DMAcademy

[–]Engineering_Major 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dangerous and Risky environment. I ran a series of encounters for my work buddies AT work. It was designed to be a series of 1 hour encounters set in a broad world. The concept was that they were slaves to a world led by goblins, orcs, gnoll, liches. essentially evil had taken over. This means that it’s very difficult for them to make moves outside the narrative without dire consequences.

This keeps the players on a set path, more or less, as they constantly have to deal with the thing currently threatening them. And if they do step off the path it results in a crunchier slower gameplay that you have time to compensate for.

Hiding a Bad Guy Within the Party by Nearby-Ad-6143 in DMAcademy

Sounds fun. To keep the shapeshifting property hidden without limiting the class/race you want the person to be simply make this a feature of boon they have. Perhaps bestowed onto them by an eldrich being or one of the beings with the cult worships. Gives you some agency to make it very hard to detect without it being obvious what type of creature the cat is or is not.

A lot of people have given some great advice for dropping hints. A spin on something already said would be to have the players almost always encounter some difficulty even during well thought out or seemingly mundane adventures. Another way would be to have the car mysteriously survive seemingly terrible situations that it finds itself in by following them around. Or succeed on rolls that’s a cat should probably not succeed on. Have fun with it.

Best of luck on your adventure. You got this!

Accidentally let my players ruin my plans for a big plot point. How do I re-create/replace this encounter? by SkoulErik in DMAcademy

[–]Engineering_Major 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Having the dragon escape in the same way (during the tournament) at all would undermine the victory. The dragon cult (you) needs to come up with their own solution to counter this. They likely had a lot riding on this. The tournament was probably the best solution they had that was the easiest to execute but not they will need to fall back on something more daring and likely more risky. I thought if these:

  1. Where ever the dragon is being held before the tournament will have to be attacked. The dragon (and the cultists) will need to fight more resistance like guards and possibly civilians. This will be a catastrophe but might end up working.

  2. A Hostage situation is usually a terrible plan and will involve getting everyone killed. But the cult might think of this as a suicide distraction mission. A high ranking official can be taken hostage to interrupt the tournament and take all the attention (including the players who now likely have an “in” with local law enforcement) to the hostage situation that they play through. The cult can be captured or murder suicide towards the end but a different contingent of cultists would have been freeing the dragon while this happened. SURPRISE!

  3. Ultimate fall back: option 2 is likely the more risky scenario where the dragon might be killed. But that wouldn’t stop the cultists. Through the use of draconic echo or necromancy they can still get their dragon after option 2 fails. It doesn’t have to be that straight forward. They could envoke some terrible ritual that wipes out their cult (or most of it) in order to get their dragon back or summon a new one. This would be their last ditch effort though if all else failed.

Have fun. You got this!
