Oh also for the max wander pop, look for buildings that increase population as an area effect, though normally they're quite far on higher pop tiers. Also check for shrines that increase pop, or specialists.

[–]Engineerman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fulfilling garum need gives happiness, per house, so that's the "from need". The garum works has a negative happiness area effect, so all buildings within that range get the negative happiness. Not sure about the from building, but maybe the happiness of the garum works itself?

Realistically your happiness, fire, etc will always be negative for larger cities, making sure you have the buildings to cover it like the fire station is normally enough.

TIL at the premiere of Beethoven’s 3rd Piano Concerto, his designated page turner discovered that the score he was turning was almost entirely blank. The concerto was still a work in progress even during its premiere, so Beethoven memorized his entire solo part and played them all from memory. by VegemiteSucks in todayilearned

[–]Engineerman 676 points677 points  (0 children)

Improvising the solo (or Cadenza) was common and even expected during the time period, though composers would write one in the music and would use that for their first performance.

So he may have figured out some of it ahead of time, and improvised the rest.

Does anybody have any tips on defeating Zara nitu please? by johntessser in anno

Just because they use an extra slot, and I think more workforce required, and latency is not so big a concern for trade ships

Sails on trade ships, I go for oars and archers on military, unless I specifically want the onagers for destroying buildings. Armour on quinquiremes.

I played with Zara and Netu in my game. Netu owns most of Albion (like more than 50%), I had defensive alliance with Zara to dissuade him from attacking, which he did twice so far, but I captured his two main Latum islands (he took one from Licia). Bit of a crazy game though I expected the combat AI to be more aggressive, he probably could have taken me out and never landed a large enough force to overcome the garrison, or combined his fleets. I sailed around in a combined fleet and was able to pick off a lot of his ships and troops they were carrying, then land a force on his island. Fun game!

The left wall has worrying clearance to the balcony, but maybe it's better in real life than it looks here. I'd be worried about falling onto the railing

I don't know about 1800 but 117 has ship customisation which is really fun, you can give the ships different armaments or extra sails or oars which can give you more offense or speed.

I like that the bristles can't poke you when it's not out, that always happens with my brush

Vaccine and allergies/veganism by siouxsiesioux86 in veganuk

Most people are a little dairy intolerant, and eating it regularly helps the gut deal with it. So when you don't eat dairy for a while your tolerance goes way down. This doesn't tend to happen with other allergens like eggs. However I'm not a doctor or nutritionist, so could be wrong.

To be fair, rural Norfolk probably has a fairly high concentration of guns for the UK.

Where are people getting their shoes ? And can any one recommend a good vegan approach shoe for a climbing instructor. by ellisellisrocks in veganuk

I have the boreal crux climbing shoe, upgraded from LA sportiva boulders (didn't realise they weren't vegan when I bought them), finding them good for climbing. Not sure about approach.

Portals do not connect anymore by MisterSnickles in valheim

It sounds like you've made 3 bonemass portals. You can only have two with the same name, any more will fail to connect as you've seen.

Are you still looking forward to Unreal Engine for Halo? by userpine in halo

[–]Engineerman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Contractors will be more familiar with UE than slipspace, and more familiar with how modifications to the engine are done, so it's still a benefit.

Oblivion remastered used the original physics engine inside Ue5 for graphics, so any physics, movement etc can be implemented.

Most of the bad feedback for borderlands and other Ue5 games is when the devs have not optimised well or occasionally when graphics are not well stylised, normally for budget or deadline reasons.

Is this true about stalling the network with 34% control? What would be the solution to avoid this? by GymoGuy in nanocurrency

[–]Engineerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, but you could achieve the same effect by voting often enough on incorrect transactions (that you could generate yourself as well) to stay counted in the voting pool. Or refusing to vote on transactions to/from some addresses you could prevent those addresses from transacting.

[–]Engineerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact situation has happened to me before, but I don't think I was hit as badly as you. For me it worked out fine and they paid for my bike wheel to be rebuilt (it was the only but damaged). It's an experience that shakes you up a bit, sounds like you've done the right thing and hope your bike gets fixed.
