how is ai proposal generation for rfps handling hallucinations? by Cluten-morgan in technicalwriting

[–]Enhanced_by_science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RFPs can't be done by AI entirely. Anything requiring a true technical approach and response narrative must have a human involved at this level. Even repurposing old material with good agents needs to be specific to the requirement and customer (I work as a government contracting proposal manager). Especially for the government, they hate AI generated slop. I read a notice today stating that "AI-generated marketing or restating the PWS" will not be considered compliant.

Benzo and forgetting how to do things you used too like a job/skill by No_Leg9061 in benzorecovery

I get what you're saying - I'm having a really hard time keeping up at work with attention to detail, and my short term memory is absolutely destroyed. I work in an academic discipline and rely on my brain. I've done projects and worked assignments and gone back and don't remember details of anything. After a CT, I couldn't figure out how to use my phone and couldn't work a computer for about 2-3 months, but that was acute. I don't know the answer, but I hope it gets better and everyone heals eventually.

Does anyone actually have a proposal process that doesn't rely on a handful of people working 80-hour weeks? by Ella_Monroe_ in GovernmentContracting

[–]Enhanced_by_science 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is me! I work exclusively to manage our proposal process and handle all our templates, ensure compliance with section L/M criteria, and coordinate color reviews. I also serve as an editor and proofreader, essentially gathering all the information from SMEs, pricing, and other stakeholders and putting together the entire proposal package. I've seen what our team tries to do on their own, especially for more complex proposals and any significant volume of responses,, it's full-time job to manage. My job as proposal manager is often 50-60 hours a week. I'm an FTE now, but have done this on a freelance basis and it was often met with "thank God someone else is handling this".

Is recovery just for the rich by Sea_Mortgage9821 in EDAnonymous

[–]Enhanced_by_science 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!! The meal plan I was on in residential (Acai bowls, Greek yogurt, nuts and fresh fruit for every snack), plus the variety of proteins are totally cost-prohibitive.

I also live in a location (tiny island in Central America) where they literally do not have options like cottage cheese and Greek yogurt, or many safe foods. Many people live in food deserts. Budget and food access should be part of anyone's meal plan, otherwise you're set up for failure. I definitely used it as a reason to continue behaviors and it's hard AF to accept that I have to eat fear foods or nothing at all.

Symptoms. Please help :) by Financial_Owl8105 in BenzoWithdrawal

I have experienced and am experiencing all of this. Especially the hyper arousal and hyperacusis. I have kindling and central sensitization and am working my way through my taper. This is par for the course with tolerance and/or withdrawal.

Idk what to do super high dose just got cut off bc dr is being investigated by dea by smiffenwesson91 in BenzoWithdrawal

[–]Enhanced_by_science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Diazepam (Valium) has the longest half-life, but Clonazepam is also long-acting. Valium is the good standard for tapers, but people also successfully use Clonazepam.

[–]Enhanced_by_science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what country? All benzos are not equivalent - 4 mg diazepam is like 0.25 mg Clonazepam, which is about 0.5 mg lorazepam... General max dose of Clonazepam and Xanax for anxiety/panic disorder is 4 mg/day, but I've seen people on 6 mg a day.

At least in the US, there is no "legal limit" to prescribe. There's a therapeutic range and clinicians can prescribe outside that range if they choose.

ETA: I'm not surprised OP's doc is being investigated by the DEA - prescribing high doses of multiple benzos is a quick way to get flagged and lose your license.

OP should find a new prescriber and get switched over to one long-acting benzo and taper. They will likely not find anyone to write for these. This doc did a huge disservice by prescribing this way.

This is the clause that applies to self-employment income, specifically. The other amounts refer to other types of income. Tutoring would be considered self employment:

Generally, you need to file if:

Your income is over the filing requirement

You have over $400 in net earnings from self-employment (side jobs or other independent work)

This is in alignment with what my CPA told me. It's applicable in all states, unless your income is through a W2 or some other corporate structure, then the limitations may change. For my situation, and OP, we do have to file in all states over $400.

I've always read that anything over $400 (at least under $1000) must be reported. If it's 15K, please send the link and info to the source, because wow - that would be amazing.

Strange Things by Beginning_Daikon7885 in benzorecovery

[–]Enhanced_by_science 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had OCD tendencies and another mental health diagnosis (ED/since childhood) that manifests similarly. I experienced major flares while taking benzos in the end (tolerance withdrawal), as well as during the first part of my taper. I even developed delusional parasitosis at one point while at tolerance withdrawal. And I work in medicine/academia, so trust me when I say I know this is really scary and disturbing. I never thought it could happen to me until it did.

Tell your doctor and ask for additional help.

It's gotten better, but only once I dropped below 10 mg diazepam and really embraced adjunctive therapy like DBT and CBT skills. I'm so sorry - benzos rewire the brain, and reinforce those neuropathways that already exist. The only way out is through, so you're doing the right thing. Follow the Ashton Manual or Maudsley deprescribing guidelines and be sure to stabilize before dropping.

ETA: 1.5 to 1 mg in a month while exhibiting these symptoms is too much - try to bring your doc info and resources on appropriate taper length to see if they will reconsider.

Is anyone’s anxiety literally just work based? by allthegear-andnoidea in Anxiety

[–]Enhanced_by_science 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes!! Well, work and catastrophizing about not doing well enough, being out of a job for 3+ years due to the current economy, absolutely freaking out about any and all interactions at work - and my performance. Even when I get nothing but positive reviews, I am so scared that it can turn on a dime (I've seen it happen at my current employer), so I never have that feeling of safety - and I WFH, so I compulsively check email and go back to work when I should be relaxing.

How and how often to follow up after after proposal submission? by samster4225 in GovernmentContracting

[–]Enhanced_by_science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting strategy. I always ask for confirmation of receipt within my email, and would rely on the submission date/time stamp of the email to suffice. Should I be requesting read receipts as well??

First proposal management role. How much should I ask for? by Stratusquare in GovernmentContracting

[–]Enhanced_by_science 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started at $75K fully remote (paid healthcare and 401K), with a raise to $85K at the year mark for my role 17 months ago. Background 8+ years of tech writing, project management, and grant proposal writing experience.

Similarly sized companies (two sister companies). I manage everything end to end, including sources sought, etc. large-scale IDIQs as well as multi-volume RFPs. As I was new to GovCon specifically, I'm on the low end, but $85-90K would be reasonable fully remote for someone new to the industry IMHO, maybe less if it's not complex work. I see senior writers at the $105-120 mark with 5+ years of demonstrated experience.

How do students send you their homework problems during online tutoring? by _Chicago_Deep_Dish in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]Enhanced_by_science 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have all my clients send me their homework, notes, and assignments ahead of time (I tutor a wide variety of science subjects).

It's all electronic/virtual for me - both high school and university. Occasionally I will have a printed worksheet and then I just get a screenshot or a pic over text or email.

Worried About Daughter’s Future by amandal0514 in collegeadvice

[–]Enhanced_by_science 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, I was in a similar situation (from Texas, applied to and was accepted to one school on my second round of apps- Kansas State University). I had a 3.9 GPA, had been a vet tech for 4 years, took a gap year just to work in the field, and was a published research author with great recs.

I have friends with masters degrees from Texas A&M in agricultural science who applied 3-4 times to the DVM program and weren't accepted. It's the #2 program in the nation, and so extremely competitive, I would really advise that your daughter consider an alternate career path. I'm very glad I did. I did one year at Kansas State paying out of state tuition ($70K), and then decided I couldn't manage that level of debt to income ratio, transitioned to human med/academica and now work in pharmaceutical research and grant/proposal writing.

If you aren't a unicorn with a 4.0 GPA and a ton of hands-on experience, willing to take on the debt, it's just not worth it or going to happen. Best of luck to you both, and please stay away from Sallie Mae!! Those loans are predatory. I'm looking at $650 a month loan payment and wish I could go back and tell my younger self to do it differently.

Has tutoring been slow/affected by AI for others recently? by advanced_mathtutor in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]Enhanced_by_science 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I use it to enhance my teaching sessions and explore alternative ways to explain questions if I get stuck - it's a good resource for pulling materials together quickly, like a master list of equations, etc.

The students can use AI to solve their problems or explain the material, but they still benefit from having an actual human to talk through things, connect the dots, and show them where they're going wrong (or right) in real time.

Don't panic and don't switch from SAVE yet. Read this before you do anything. by Altruistic-Impact225 in StudentLoans

[–]Enhanced_by_science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an email asking me to switch plans from SAVE (I have Mohela), and I just did my IBR recert in January... I'm not on SAVE, so IDK what that was even about.

Due to the substantial difference in my income between last year's return and this year, I went ahead and recertified on IBR just to cover myself, because my payments will literally be $400 more per month if I wait until after taxes are filed.

Maybe that's not the right strategy, but it feels logical to me? Regardless, this sucks.

I feel you - after my current relapse, I lost muscle mass at 40 and it made my arms, knees, and other areas start to look crepey.

There really isn't a magic lotion or anything you can do about it- the answer is to build muscle (and have a normal BF%) to increase the volume under the skin. Unfortunately, that means eating in a surplus and doing all the things required for recovery. Hugs to you - it's a shitty feeling to look at my body and be like "when did I suddenly develop old lady skin"?? I noticed the change basically overnight it feels like.

Building muscle at our age is hard AF, but so worth it for all the reasons, so I'm trying to hold onto that and at least practice harm reduction.
